Wow, just wow.

You obviously don't watch Jorginho play and I'm amazed 4 people agreed with that post. Jorginho is a miles better deep lying play maker than Winks. It isn't even close. Jorginho is always looking forward with his passes, he completely dictates the play and is at the centre of everything Chelsea do.

Winks does nothing of the sort.

This has absolutely confirmed what I suspected. Winks is so vastly overrated by some on here. The comparison to Jorginho is ridiculous.
Actually, both Jorginho and Winks percentage of passes that are forward is 24%.

Winks actually plays more long passes and has a higher ave pass length.

Jorginho does create more chances per game but Winks has a higher 2nd assist rate.

Maybe if you were watching Jorginho week in week out you would have the same criticism of him.

?? No he isn’t. Have a look how slow he is for Wolves third goal the other week. Winks is definitely not rapid.
He’s not quick over longer sprints, but he does have a good change of direction, and burst over five yards which is perfect for his position.

Bit like Modric then.
No, not as good as, now
perhaps probably won't be
but a bit like him
in the parameters given.

Completely agree. There is a reason that the wjnks/Sissoko partnership is our best despite them not being our best individuals. They have great balance. Our transitions have become so much quicker with them in the team.

Winks does a lot of simple but essential things. He links play, gets and gives it simple. He runs with it, finds space. It's easy to overlook the importance of the basics.

He does them extremely well.
Dembele has lots of great qualities but I honestly think that we transition more quickly without him (and without Dier).

Teddy Sheringham describing Winks in an article about Poch's impact at Spurs (in the Daily Fail).

You only have to look at the way Harry Winks has made an impact. He reminds me in so many ways of Michael Carrick.
He is probably that bit more mobile but he has the same impact and influence as Carrick. If you watch, he takes the ball on the half-turn. He can see everything around him — in front, behind and to the sides. Carrick was like that.
It was Pochettino who spotted that ability and he was not afraid to give Winks a chance in the first team, and he is not the only youngster to be given his chance by Pochettino.

His passing isn’t as good as Carrick’s

My main concern with Winks is that when we’re on the back foot he is not yet any where near being able to turn the tide in our favour.

He doesn’t stop working, and that’s useful, but he can’t grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

We really miss that kind of player ie Dembele at his best.

Carrick was never like that either.

Just cringed a little bit when I noticed the video on bbc website of Winks saying we are good enough to win the league. Our players need to be quiet stop saying this type of thing until they can prove it on the pitch.. let’s not forget every time someone comes out and says something similar we normally capitulate in the next game

We are third in the table and within striking distance. You can hardly expect him to say anything else if that was the question. If he had say no, he'll be accused of lacking in confidence in himself, his team mates and his manager.

I think/hope that is the sort of thing maturity will bring

No where near as good as Carrick winning the ball back (so far), also think he plays a lot shorter than Carrick.

Cue a 3-0 loss. I really hope I'm wrong but every time the players start talking they get all spursy. Yes I'm going to that phrase until we stop fluffing our lines when it's time to step up

Yup, better movement and skill though

He’s still young and has potential but he’s got plenty of areas to improve. He’s shown plenty of great things but needs consistency and experience.

Great to have a player of that quality from our youth team though.

What’s he worth? Certainly more than 30m, possibly 50.

Awesome

Awesome

keep in mind Carrick was 23 when he joined us and it was another 3 seasons before he joined utd.
Modders was also 23 when he joined
Winks is 22 and has lost almost a season with injuries.
His potential is greater than many at SC believe it to be.
In today's market 50 million if he were for sale
But worth more than 50 to us
100% Tottenham lad

Best game all season and what I've been wanting to see from him more.

His shooting is horrid though haha.
