There was no single time this season when we could put our strongest eleven on the pitch like 3 games in the row. Thank god there are no tournaments during summer.

I was bored the other day and went back through our starting lineups in the premier league and couldn't find any games where we started what I would have said at the beginning of the year was our strongest XI. I was even fairly flexible and allowed a few either/ors with some positions and players. I only saw 2 game where we started 10 of our strongest XI. We usually managed 8 to 9, but went through a stretch of just 6 of 11. Even our great DESK attackers only started together in 6 of the 31 games I looked at.

Strongest XI is subjective and someone else could certainly get very different numbers than me, but I'm just posting to support your sentiment that injuries seem especially bad this year and we've always seemed to play a squad missing at least a couple key members. Here's hoping Winks can recover fully (and quickly if we manage to progress in the CL).

It's so important we get another playmaker for next season. Ideally someone who can play as a number 8 or push forward as a number 10. I would go as far to say that we miss Winks as much as we miss Eriksen when he doesn't play. Not to suggest he's on the same level of Eriksen but just because of the impact it has on our play when he's out. Eriksen is great further forward but just doesn't have the same impact when he's deep.

Completely agree. He's so important to the way that we play and we have no-one like him.

I think we need to sign at least 2 midfielders:

- One similar to Winks but maybe a bit more of an all-rounder who can play in a defensive role if required.
- One who is more forward thinking that and can double up as a number 10. Perhaps in the mould of a Grealish or Lo Celso who likes to drive forward with the ball but can also pass and is technically sound.

Our team is begging for a few more intelligent, technical players in midfield who are comfortable under pressure and can link things together. I think it would also do players like Alli, Kane and Eriksen (if he stays) the world of good as they could focus on their strengths rather than being forced deep all of the time.

I actually forgot that the final isn't actually until 3 weeks this sat. Any one know if he is in with a shout?

Said on Insta he hopes this isn’t the end of his season. Even if he’s on the bench it’ll be a boost.

I don't think we can afford to carry two players lacking match sharpness against Liverpool. However much both he and Kane are important to the side, to put one in is risky, to put two in is suicidal.

Kane's always gonna get the nod. I'd put WInks on the bench if he's fit.

Really everyone will be lacking match sharpness, 3 weeks is a long time without a game.

If everyone is fit, strongest team please

Same for me but on a player for player that you would still have to make the call on Dele or no Dele with either one of Lucas or Son missing out.

Lloris
Aurier Toby Verts Rose
Sissoko Winks Eriksen
Lucas Kane Son

There’s a massive difference between not playing for three weeks like the majority of the players and two months like Kane and Winks.

Apparently Liverpool are looking to play a friendly the week before the final too.
