Superb strike from a great little player.

Another player treated badly by the not inconsiderable minority of our fans who are utterly ****y at times....
It's true that he was treated badly and he was, fairly or unfairly I don't know, singled out as a bit of a troublemaker during the Mourinho days. But he was done with us. The injuries, the chops and changes, the bad vibes, he had to get away from us as much as we needed him to leave.

He needed a move away and a fresh start at a slightly lower level, and when he's back in the PL next season I bet he'll look a lot more like the Winks who dominated Real in 2017 than the shadow we saw play for us 2019-22. Maybe not a top four quality player but I'm sure he will be a very good PL player again.

Was at the game today, he was instrumental in Leicester City general play, keeping the ball moving and ticking, this was even before his goal, and then he started gaining more confidence from the goal with some forward passes. He also almost scored in the 1st half but Begovic and the defender managed to clear it.

Now that he’s not a Spurs player, are we allowed to ask for clarity on what he did that made him be considered a bad egg during the Mourinho era?

Come to think of it, what was it that Toby did wrong?? Did we ever find that out?

He'd got too comfy with us, imo, and needed a change of scenery to rediscover himself again.
Injuries didn't help but he had seemed to stall, if not maybe stagnate.
Glad to see him doing well and that was a cracking goal.

From an LCFC forum. High praise.

I sometimes get Paul Scholes vibes about Winks. So tidy in possession and he's the heartbeat of the team.

I know he's not as forward thinking as Scholes and doesn't score worldies, but technically he's right up there.
Aged well

Maybe, sometimes getting out of their comfort zone is really good for players. I do wonder whether he should have had his ankle surgery a long time ago and if that was a big part of why his form with us suffered.

Like Lo Celso he's playing football style that suits him for the first time since Pochettino. Has to stay healthy and he will be fine. Not sad that we lost him, prefer all our midfielders and it's best for his career to be somewhere he will start.
