Great to see him scoring and more involved again. There have been quite a few games this season where he's hardly been able to get involved but this new system probably helps him in that regard. The more we continue to get him featured the longer he will continue to score. Guaranteed goals in the guy if he gets on the ball!

Given that we're notorious for paying low wages, I think if you're looking for mercenaries then Spurs probably isn't the club to go for. Not to say there's nobody in the team who's head could be turned with big money, but there's a reason why they've gone for players like Oscar, Ramires and Costa, who have all got something in common...not that they're Brazillian, anything else?

For the life of me I can't recall what I was listening, watching or reading but someone mentioned that the reason these players are thinking of money could be mainly because of their upbringing and in particular where they're from. It makes sense.

I imagine these players were brought up in very poor conditions in an environment that none of us would choose to be in. So they are driven by money, they're driven by looking after their families and friends and future generations. That's understandable.

Also and it is a discussion for another thread, for alot of these footballers... Football really is a job in all intents and purposes... You'll go work for the employer that pays you the most.

Harry Kane: China not for me
  • Last Updated: January 16 2017, 0:00 GMT
Harry Kane insists no-one at Tottenham would prefer a big-money move to China over achieving success at White Hart Lane.

The Spurs striker hit a hat-trick in Saturday's 4-0 Premier League win over West Brom in a week when he also celebrated becoming a father for the first time.

Kane opened the scoring early on against the Baggies before a Gareth McAuley own goal put Mauricio Pochettino's side further ahead before the break.

West Brom were better after the interval but relied on a string of saves from Ben Foster to keep them in the game before Kane struck twice in five minutes to seal a comfortable win and the match ball.

With the Chinese Super League looking to attract some of the world's biggest stars, Premier League clubs can expect plenty of interest in their own talent.

League leaders Chelsea have already sold Oscar and John Obi Mikel to Super League clubs and their forward Diego Costa has been linked with a similar move.

But, with the recent victory over the Blues proving Tottenham are in good shape to challenge as they did for much of last season before tailing and finishing third, Kane says everyone at the club wants to stay.

"People are going to speculate about that but you can see how good a shape the club is in," he said when it was put to him that he could earn more money elsewhere despite recently signing an improved deal at White Hart Lane.

"The future is very bright. We've got one of the best managers in the world, if not the best. I'm pretty sure he'd stay (if a Chinese Super League club came in for Pochettino), he's started a project here, we've got the stadium coming, so the future is very bright.

"Performances like West Brom and winning games like that, the next step for us is winning trophies, so hopefully we can do that this season and push us onto the world scale.

"I'd be very surprised if any of our players went out there, especially within the next couple of seasons. What we've got going on here is something very great and I think it would be silly for the players here whoever maybe come and go not to be part of it."

Kane believes it is not only Tottenham's players who would prefer to stay put as opposed to bolster their bank balance with a lucrative move.

"It's part of football now," he said when asked about the big money being spent by Chinese clubs.

"There's a lot of money in the game because of how good the Premier League is and other leagues around Europe. Players are going to choose what they want to choose.

"Either they're going to go there and earn some good money but a lot of players I think will stay and the ambition is to win the Premier League and win trophies to play in the best league in the world.

"I think that drives more players than most so I don't think it's that much of an issue. The Chinese league are trying to do all they can to make their league as good as ours.

"So you can fault them for that, that's their choice and like I said it's down to the players and what they want to do. But I definitely think the ambition to win Premier Leagues, especially for the young players, will definitely drive them more."

The 23-year-old would certainly be sought after if he declared an interest in such a move, with West Brom skipper Darren Fletcher conceding after Saturday's loss that Kane has plenty to offer.

"He is a fantastic striker and his form has been unbelievable," he said.

"He is very good at everything; he is quick, he holds it up, he leads the line, he lays it off, he can head it, he can shoot and he can score tap-ins.

"He excels in a lot of areas, you get a lot of strikers who are quick or great finishers - he has a complete package and a great work-rate as well. For any manager, fan and players, I'm sure they appreciate him.

"He has worked on his game and keeps progressing. It is easy to be a flash in the pan for one season but he has shown now and done it over a number of seasons. That is a sign of true quality and he is improving all the time."

Kane now has 13 in last 13 PL games.

Can he score 30 goals this season ?

If Kane remains fit & can play the next 18 games, then why not?

Why can\t Karen Brady just shut up. Does she really believe people now a days need to be educated about the process of giving brith (combined with an English grammar intro)

By Harry Sykes

Karren Brady has laid into Harry Kane for a Twitter message proudly announcing that he had become a father.

The West Ham vice chairman used her weekly newspaper column to criticise the Tottenham talisman for his bad manners and “strangling the English language”.

The Tottenham talisman, who was rested from the team last weekend as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the FA Cup, revealed on his personal Twitter account last Sunday night that he and girlfriend Kate Goodland “had our beautiful baby girl, Ivy Jane Kane” earlier that day.

The outspoken Brady was unimpressed at Kane for taking credit for the birth, while also panning his sentence structure.

“Congratulations to Harry Kane for his ‘assist’ in the birth of daughter Ivy Jane . . . but that’s all it was,” wrote Brady in her Sun column on Saturday.

“All the heavy work was done by your girlfriend, Harry — although you might not think so from his tweet that opens ‘Me and @KateGoodlandx had our beautiful baby girl ’.

“The lad wins no points from me for strangling the English language — or for good manners.”

Brady’s criticism of an apparently inoffensive and positive personal message from the England international is unlikely to go down well with Tottenham fans.

Relations between London rivals Spurs and West Ham have taken a nosedive in recent years, partly due to the east Londoners winning the race to rent the Olympic Stadium at a peppercorn price.

That deal was secured by Brady, much to the chagrin of Spurs’ long-serving chairman and negotiator-in-chief Daniel Levy.

Spurs fans can at least take heart from their side’s league position, with the team third in the table ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

By contrast, West Ham are 13th in the league and still not clear of the relegation zone, and are also facing a mammoth fight to hold on to prize asset Dimitri Payet.

Wow...just saw this. What an unbelievably crass, disrespectful thing for someone to say. I'd half expect a teenager to come out with something like that, but not a (supposedly) successful, adult woman.

I wonder what she has to say about all the women who nowadays say "My husband/partner and I are pregnant." F'ing low-life bag...

Bare in mind, she did manage to give birth out the end of a cock... so she's not easily impressed when it comes to childbirth.

I love Harry Kane. Obviously. Watching him, it doesn't seem like it should work, but it does. At first I thought 'exuberance of youth', 'beginner's luck' etc etc. But he keeps doing it again and again. And again. At times he looks clumsy but the number of headers he wins against centre backs - who really should be winning those battles - the way the balls drops at his feet, even when it's really fizzed into him, the way he's 'luckily' in the right place at the right time for those tap ins. .... he's the real deal and seems like a level headed, decent young man to boot. He deserves everything he gets, but saying that, the club deserve a lot of praise too for stickling with him when he wasn't a 16 year old Rooney-esque first team sensation, when he wasn't scoring in 10 consecutive games on loan in the lower leasgues, when he wasn't making more headlines for his social media updates than his performances on the pitch. He's probably done countless other younger players a huge favour too, encouraging clubs to persevere a little longer in today's immediate-return crazy football world. Ryan Mason is probably a good example of a beneficiary. Viva Harry Kane and viva la Spurs!

Don't know whether his groin is of concern but he didn't look as sharp as he can be again last night

Still scored though and keeps his quite amazing goal scoring record going.

Joined the legendary striker Gary Lineker on 80 goals for the club

Lineker league 105/67 All 138/80

Kane league 102/63 All 149/80

Apparently he's scored against 23 of 25 PL teams he's played against.

I know United are one, who is the other he hasn't scored against? This is doing my nut in!
