Kane's definitely tailed off a bit this season injuries or not.

He seems to be less instinctive and isn't as lethal a goal scorer as he's been previously.

I hope he gets back to his best next season.

It's not that we play better without Kane, it's just that we play better without a half fit Kane who keeps rushing himself back from injuries and we would be even better without a coach who doesn't have the balls to give him some bench time every now and then.

Moura or Lamela would have given us a far better chance to win on Saturday, Pochetino was responsible for this defeat by picking an unfit player over them. I love Poch, but I hope he's admiting to himself he's to blame this time. Hope he learns from his mistakes.

I’m actually surprising at how few mentions I’ve seen of Lamela not getting on.

I appreciate Poch wanted a similar replacement for Sissoko but I’d have dropped Eriksen deeper and brought on Lamela.

We all know he sometimes loses possession taking too many touches but the one thing we were crying out for was for someone to have the confidence in their own ability in the final third.
So many needless flicks when players panicked was driving me mad.

Lamela has plenty of detractors and he’s not always the answer but his energy, hunger and will to win would have been absolutely massive during the final 15-30 minutes.

For me it was the necessary sub, bringing on Llorente smacked of desperation and a lack of ideas.
Lamala can pick a pass to unlock a congested penalty box, is full of movement to take defenders away and open up space for others and his energy would have been infectious. I really think Poch missed a trick by not getting Lamela involved in the last 30 minutes of the game. Hindsight and all that.

If SIssoko wouldn't have become injured, I'm sure Lamela would have come in at some point. That was just bad luck.

However, had I been in Poch's place, I would have brought in both Lucas and Lamela around the 30th minute of the first half. Winks, Kane, Son, Eriksen and Dele just weren't getting anything done and we needed some dynamism.

Also, Kane was one of our best players of the second half, but he really shouldn't have started. This was the perfect game to give him the role of a super sub. I really hope the reason Poch decided to start him was because he felt he was the best choice and not because he wanted to reward harry for his top work of these past few years. And I'm not just talking in hindsight here, I spent the past three weeks telling everyone around me how I hoped Kane would have a bench role and not start the game.

Klopp started Firmino, Poch was always going to start Kane... if we won, no one would have moaned, if Klopp lost then the boot will have been on the other foot. Both players got fours and fives in match ratings.

You have to play the best though and take a calculated risk.

I was more surprised Winks came off although slightly understand why he came off.

He should have come on for Winks then Alli for Lucas. Two players buzzing about moving the ball quickly and not giving their defence a minutes rest would have given them a lot to think about. I was disappointed he didn't get on.

It was in the Wembley game against them. Almost help sneak a result. Good point.

Well, that calculated risk was to lose a CL final. Well played Poch!!!

That's unfair. It was a calculated risk, and Poch had more informed insight than any of us had in order to make the call. It didn't come off, and that penalty call after 20 seconds changed the whole game.

I think questions can fairly be asked about why Poch didn't change things up earlier in the game seeing as we just weren't at the races and didn't look like breaking down a Liverpool team that were comfortable sitting back to defend their lead.

I thought Kane had a poor game as did others. It would be interesting to hear more from folks who were actually at the game as you get a wider visual perspective and see far more in terms of player movement than you get on TV.

I had family and friends who were at the game, and the general negative consensus re Kane's perfomance was his about his lack of movement throughout the game.

He's certainly not at his best, but let's put things in perspective...

Harry was injured before the World Cup and then tired all season after it. He was then injured a couple more times during the season, missing 10 league games.

But if he had have scored 5 more league goals, which isn't that unrealistic, he would have won the Golden Boot. 6 more goals would have seen him win it out-right and not share it with others.

The guy's a goal-machine and with a proper rest and pre-season, I think he'll be smashing them in again come 19/20!

such a shame to see Kane bumbling around the pitch. he looks nothing like he used to, and hasn't for a while.

this was the year he needed a good summer off because he's not getting one next year

Yeah and he will get one. He's played half a match for England.

If Southgate has anything about him he’ll see the bigger picture and send Kane home to his wife and kids this morning. I suspect however that he won’t and he’ll probably play the full 90 on Sunday in the most pointless game since the World Cup 3rd place play off.

As long as he doesn’t get injured, playing 90 minutes on Sunday won’t do any harm to his being fresh for next season. He’ll have a good 5 weeks rest before pre season, and then a full pre season, he’ll be fine. If anything, scoring a goal or two might leave him feeling a bit more content and help his mindset starting next season.

I actually think this season he was more affected by the lack of a proper pre season than fatigue, as pre season is when players are fine tuned.
