No Messi? :wideyed:

Edit: Right, they announce 5 at a time and still got 15 to go.
After Messi's performance against us, and his consistently good performances and the allegations hanging over Ronaldo, I'd say Messi was a cert to win.

I think Kane's initial issue this season was confidence (which is weird, considering he got the golden boot, but a different type of confidence related to his attempts, rather than simply scoring). He looks like he's had that back lately.

If we're pragmatic about it, Kane is and always has been two types of player - one that can knock it in by virtue of "right place, right time", and one that has good movement and a good shot on him.

I think he (or someone else) has realised he'll just get marked out of the game and barely get a sniff as a 9, so he's obviously dropped back as a 10 so he can get into the game more. I'd worry if it were Jermain Defoe we're on about, but Moura has taken up that role and it allows Kane to trot about and have more space to do his thing.

Most important thing is that he's permanently adapting, which is why he's never been a "one season wonder".
Good post. I get frustrated with Kane in the deeper role, but if it adds a new dimension to his game then even better. The best players do this over their career and while it feels counterproductive at the moment, if there’s a long term strategy behind it that improves his overall game and makes him more potent in the long run, that’s a good thing

These awards are all nonsense, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud to see Harry listed as one of the nominees of the Ballon d'Or:

Struggling to understand how all 3 of Liverpools front 3 made the nominees, Would have thought Eriksen did a hell of a lot more for his country during the world cup and had a better season last year than 2 of them ... maybe just wearing my bias goggles :whistle::whistle:

The most telling thing for me is that he started looking better in recent weeks after we rested him midweek for the EFL cup game. Before that he started every game in addition to the internationals. He just needs to be rotated more, simple as that. I fancy Moura and Son to lead the line at times in order to rest Kane some more.

Salah is so fucking overrated.. One-season wonder so far he has proven.
Yes and no. last season he was probably one of, if the not the, best player, constantly, in the world and he plays for Liverpool which obviously gives anyone extra brownie points. There is no question as to his season thus far being a shadow of last. But I will say he is still consistently getting into situations were he should be scoring. His finishing has been letting him down but his build up play is as good as ever. Much like Kane, when it clicks I fear he will go back to the Salah of last season as it’s only the composure that is lacking at the moment. Overrated or not, last seasons numbers were incredible, I think he probably deserves to be on player of the year lists. But saying all that, I hate how just because he plays for Pool that it immediately gives him validation as being up there with Messi. In that regard he is certainly overrated. He is very, very far from Messi’s level, as is Kane and pretty much every other footballer on the planet bar Ronaldo. Mbappe maybe one day, but not yet and not for a while, Kane also but he needs to be better then he has been of late and again, consitnalth for many years to come.

I agree with you somewhat. But I just have a slight issue with the over the top coverage of him over the summer and into this season. They acted like last season was the norm and that he’d be banging in that amount this year. It was obvious he wouldn’t and I’ve said that many times. Just looking at his numbers over the last few seasons and he was never going to be as productive. He will still get a good amount of goals this season because, like you say, he still gets into good positions.

Last season was so frustrating though watching team after team and defender after defender letting him cut inside and watch him whip the ball into the goal. Showing him outside was always the best option yet teams just didn’t do it.

I want my Kane back ?

In my opinion he was at his ultimate best 12 months ago around the Huddersfield and Liverpool games

Looked fine to me last 3 or 4 games. Had that header been 2cm lower we would have been knee deep in stats for the last 48 hours. Who he’d gone past in another list and how’s he’s scored 20 in 27 since his career threatening injury at Bournemouth ?

Was in Kane’s left ankle he hurt?

SSN showed a video of him this morning doing a dynamic stretching exercise and you could see him wince with pain when putting a lot of strain on that side.

I see Real Madrid have started to ramp it up with Ramos saying how great Kane is and how he would suit Spanish league.
This is just the beginning of there push to get Kane I expect it to become fever pitch before January window opens wankers

You really think the club would have realised him for international duty if he had an ongoing injury. Any excuse we’d pull him.

Watch rashford behind him, he touches each ankle as he moves also, so think it's part of the movement to touch their ankles.
