Down to the dog Simba. I'm sorry this is getting a little bit silly.

Does this mean we have to get a banner done as well?

Exactly this. Lamela is clearly shy and a bit of an introvert - half of his Instagram feed was pictures of he and his dog. Living in a foreign country, away from family and childhood friends, plus the fact his brother was in a life-threatening accident... These things all add up, and any 24-year-old would struggle with all these issues added together. Give the guy a break. Some of the reactions to possible reasons to why Lamela isn't playing are similar to some people's reactions to when a rich person admits to be suffering from depression.
It's the imbecilic view that money means a person can't suffer. "Suck it up you're rich you don't know what real problems are."
Whether earning £7 an hour or £70,000 a week life can still affect you in the same way.
Not down to the dog! I have a dog I was made to move 2 hours away from family and friends by an ex who then left all I have here is my dog. If my dog died tomorrow I'd be devastated and lost in life! Times that by a shit load with a young lad in another country just him and his dog! I feel for the dude
Lamela and N'Koudou either side of Janssen = Europa League Winners 2017
No wonder men are embarrassed to talk about mental issues going by some reactions. Losing a dog is like losing a member of your family. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Erik has just started following Michael Buble on twitter...it's a long way back from here
A comparison.....
I've suffered from kidney stones for many years. I've had various procedures in the past to get rid of them, but they have returned many times.
However, for the past 4 years, I've suffered periods of excruciating pain from the same areas, and yet every scan I've had, from x-ray through CT and even MRI have shown no further stones in any way causing a problem. Nothing.
But still the pain appears, along with other symptoms of kidney stones.
Why?
Mental?....possibly. I've drunk some heavy stuff over the years that may have affected me. But it just shows the body is an odd thing and can give out signals to the brain that actually, don't necessarily mean anything is wrong.
Just a thought to throw out there into the argument.
I lost my dog just before Christmas and I can tell you now that it's by far the worst time I've ever had in life. I come home from work every night to find the wife in tears as she just can't come to terms with it.
For some people, pets are every bit as important as their closest family members
I don't have any problem with the level of sympathy aimed at Lamela here.
I do think a lot (not all) of you would be less sympathetic to other members of the squad or players for other teams.
