The thing is no-one's going to buy an injury prone player with 3 years left on his contract from Levy - he'll probably be asking for £40 million. I think Lamela is destined to be a squad player until his contract eventually runs out.

Then we are screwed because we are keeping a squad place for a player who doesn’t contribute. Poch already likes a lean squad. When you factor in Wanyama to it, plus you have the likes of Winks who always gets injured. All of a sudden we have quite a few squad places full of players who are always injured.

Maybe I’m jumping the gun on winks but I have a bad feeling he will be another injury prone player.

Yeah I completely agree. It's a tricky situation - we have injury prone players taking up precious squad places who probably don't want to leave. In an ideal world we'd sell Lamela and Wanyama and use the money to reinforce but unless a team wants to take a risk (and spend a fair wedge) on them, it's hard to see them leaving. At the moment they're both on decent wages at a Champions League team in London, are settled and get to train at Hotspur Way and play at a brand new stadium. Where else will they get that now?

I reckon we will have a few suitors from Italy who will happily take Lamela on, he will likely get less injuries over there not having to play our style of football.

Italy does make the most sense. Maybe one of the Milan clubs would take a punt - Lamela's about their level and they have a bit of money. Still not sure they'd pay what Levy's asking though.

I think Lamela will be given until the winter TW to prove he can play a role and stay fit. If he spends over 30% of his time out injured between August and Dec this year, he'll be out on his ear in January. However, Poch really seems to rate him highly, and will likely want to give him one more chance. Give him an entire summer to get strong, work on his fitness and get his head right. 'Cos if he does come back fully fit and physically in great shape, then he will be an important weapon on a team that desperately needs depth next season.

Make no mistake, we've missed a fit Lamela over the last two months. He has the ability to open teams up with smart passes. Especially those that tend to park the bus. He's also integral to the press. Without him, we suck at it.

Look, I'm not saying the guy is brilliant or anything like that. But given the number of games we will play next season, having someone like him who can start 25-30 games and regularly come off the bench, will be incredibly important.

I'm surprised that many people agreed with this. Its time to move on, he had a full summer to recover and it didn't make a difference. He came out on fire this season and then injuries derailed it all. We have greatly missed him but its time to replace him.

He's proven at this point he can't start that many games consistently. He only started 14 by my count all season, 12 the season before, and 7 before that.

It's time, which is sad to say because I love the player.

Anyone seen the live Instagram streams he put out after the final whistle? Sky Sports News just aired a few of them.

He’s an absolute psychopath!
Lucas “swimming” completely face down on the water covered floor whilst Lamela shouts his version of English lyrics at the camera :ROFLMAO:

The guy bleeds football and I genuinely love him for it. He’s not our best player but he sure as hell cares about our great club.

Really hope he hasn't got injured again with all those crazy celebrations haha.

We will need him for the final, that's for sure!

Lamela has a very unique style of play. IF he can stay injury free he is an excellent squad player. As soon as he came on he was always looking at forward passes between the lines

You are correct, apart from the fact that he isn't a squad player if fully match fit. He'd be pushing a slot as regular starter.

He is our most creative player alongside Eriksen baffles me why people want to see him leave

My only issue with Lamela is his injury record. When we're operating with such a small squad, having any player who is so rarely fit has a huge impact. I don't want to see him leave, I want to see him stay fit.

Exactly. We can only have a good squad if our perceived squad players are pushing the first x1.

I dont think we can replace lamela anyone better who wont start regularly
