Sell Eric and upset Dele? No thanks.
sell them both, thats a nice tidy profit. there should be some nice bargains to be had from the three that will be relegated in the summer.
for a real lottery windfall we could listen to offers for rose, walker, toby and kane. for that lot we could buy a real high wage earner:banghead:

Post match Spurs Tv wembley interview poor lad looked beside himself
I love Eric Dier. He epitomises the kind of attitude I want in this new Spurs team. He feels each loss hard, he cares, and he fights. All that, while being a very good technical footballer. I know it will probably end up being Kane, but I'd have Dier as my future captain for both Spurs and England. The perfect blend.

Yes I was thinking similar lines for captaincy and also thought how poch is bringing through good characters on the field as I could imagine most players as Captain. Forget their positions on the pitch for a minute.

I could imagine Rose, verts, dier, Kane, alderwirald, wanyama, with lamela eriksen and dembele not far behind

I thought Dier was accomplished yesterday. I know some.of you guys thought he had a poor game?

His ability to read the game, knowing when to push up into midfield and when to drop back is a real asset. Personally, I thought his game permitted Big Vic to rampage in the second half.

Do we under estimate Diers flexibility in terms of where he can play? Perhaps he's not been the midfielder he was, due to being constantly moved around the formation?

Thing is, I don't think.he has ever been terrible. Below par on occasions, but generally solid.

Would always be in my team whichever formation we play, for it is his flexibility that allows us to change systems mid-game and confuse opposition. Dont think we have any other player that can do this, Christian is the closest in the forward positions, but ant change to his role is dependent upon that of Eric's.
Definitely a future captain.

Well put. I think Pochettino definately recognises the tactical flexibility he brings to the side. Certainly helps save on substitutes as well.as being an instant change in game. Thing is, he's a decent footballer too. It's not like he is just there because he can play in numerous areas, it's not like he is keeping anyone out of the side that deserves his spot. Not in my opinion anyway.

It is funny how even a year ago Poch was being criticized because he couldn't deal with certain players and only wanted guys with character. Now people are recognizing that players that are talented, willing to work hard, get along and play for the shirt may just be the guys you want on the team instead of guys with me first attitudes.

Dier is what I call a glue guy. Not everyone will be a superstar on a team but you a couple of guys that do all the little things that allow the others around them to free up their play. Dier gives us that and is worth way more to our success than many realize.

You have to understand that I am merely thinking out loud here. A lot of people see Dier as a DM, but I don't. I am at a loss to understand how people see him as a top class DM. I think we need another central midfielder, one who is different to anything else we have. I don't think any of our central midfielders are creative enough.

A few people have mentioned Stones. Using his transfer fee as a benchmark, OK, £40m for Dier is not enough. But was Stones really worth that kind of money? Maybe if he had a coach who had a clue how to organize a defence? Nobody spends £80m for someone who is not a game-changer (which Dier is not) so I don't think that's a realistic price tag.

There's a marked difference in what Dier does with the ball at his feet and what he enables us to do as a team. With the ball at his feet he's a young and slightly raw prospect who would attract a decent transfer fee. What he contributes to making us totally flexible and so difficult to play against is utterly unique and priceless.

Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham have created 'new style' of player in Eric Dier

Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham have created a new "flexible" style of player in Eric Dier.

Dier joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon almost three years ago and was initially used a central defender.

But the 23-year-old was transformed into a holding midfielder last season and has proved his worth in a variety of positions this term.

Few players command such a level of tactical flexibility on the pitch and Pochettino is delighted Dier has proven to be a success at White Hart Lane, having become an instant fans' favourite by scoring a late winner against West Ham in August 2014.

"It was his first official fixture, he was in the starting XI," Pochettino said as he cast his mind back to Dier's last-gasp strike at Upton Park.

"I'm very happy because he's a great guy and he deserves it. I think we created altogether a new style player. He can play different roles.

"It's fantastic, that flexibility he provides with his quality for the team. He's been a fantastic signing for the club."

Dier's effort helped kick off Pochettino's reign in north London with a win and the England international epitomises the club's recent transfer strategy.

Spurs have developed into a major force under the Argentine coach ahead of Friday's clash with the Hammers and Pochettino is pleased to have overseen such stellar progress.

"After nearly three years we feel very proud of the way the club is, the teams is, how the players have grown up," said Pochettino.

Spurs will cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table to just one point if they are victorious at London Stadium.

Antono Conte's side are not in action until Monday night, and Spurs will be determined to keep up the pressure on their capital rivals.

I don't think people realise how important Dier is to the system. He is the player which allows us to effortlessly change formation at multiple points during the match. How many sides can do that without it causing some sort of disorder in the team?

This is why it's utterly ludicrous to suggest that we should sign someone to replace Dier in the team, making Dier simply a back-up player.

Spent a fair bit of time as a CB of which he most certainly fucking is not - I think he needs to be alongside Dembele and not Wanyama but Poch seems to have other idea's and clearly knows more than i do.
