Someone has uploaded Eric Dier’s tackle on Sergio Ramos to a porn website.

The video is listed on PornHub with the title “Thick Englishman smashes into dirty Spaniard”.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was booked just 12 minutes into the match in Seville for a firm but fair tackle on the central defender during England’s 3-2 win against Spain on Tuesday night.

Didn't think he stuck out one way or the other yesterday. We largely controlled the game so he didn't have a ton of cleaning up to do and thought he made a couple good long passes out to the fullbacks splitting the defense to setup an opportunity.

If he’s fit enough to play on Saturday, I think he’ll look better playing in a midfield 3 with Dele and Winks with one of Son, Lucas or Eriksen losing out. He’ll have mobile, dynamic players near him and he’ll be able to stay deep and focus on what he does best, ad keep it simple.

Did some stats comparison with Fernandinho who many currently regard as best DM in PL. interestingly Dier is same on pass completion up on forward passes which really surprised me 70% to 69%. Also ahead on big chances created, through balls, crosses all quite surprising. Even more surprising is he’s actually down on defensive duties. Down on interceptions clearances aerial battles. You would think it would be other way round he’d be excelling on defensive side. Maybe it’s a clue as to why we seem to be giving up more chances and generally look a bit fragile in the middle.

That's how I've seen him play this year. He's been pretty good spraying the ball wide and for me, as of now, can better split the defensive line than Winks with a through ball. But he's been poor in his defensive duties and has been sloppy at time with play back to the GK and CBs. He needs to pick up his energy levels in midfield and throw himself around more.

No way is he first choice anymore after the way Winks and Sissokko are playing together. Will be interesting to see how Poch plays this out when he's back.

Part of me wonders whether he might be somebody we would be looking to cash in on in the summer. Can’t see him getting a look in too much for the rest of the season.

Don't know where to put him. The issue of playing several positions OK, but not great at any of them.

Every team/squad needs flexible players like Eric Dier. I am sure he will remain an important part of the squad and get lots of games.

Winks is a superb pivot with a big future, and Sissoko has become a formidable box to box water carrier. But I still think you need an out and out DM/destroyer in your team. With Wanyama looking more and more unlikely to return, Dier is our only real option for that role.

Sissoko or Dier is mainly a question about tactics. Dier edges it if the need is purely defensive. Sissoko edges it if the need is more of an attacking sort. Certainly it makes not sense to announce that one is "better" than the other, they are rather more or less on the same level of ability, but with different main traits.

Although Aurier put in a great cross yesterday, I could see Eric playing at right back if Serge and Trip continue to defend as poorly as they have recently.

I think we shall see Eric in CM as we know Winks has been playing with pain and as much of an engine Sissoko has, he can't play every game, he risks getting injured again.
