Considering we are full to the limit on non-HG players i'm interested on who is going to make way for Yedlin to be registered.

Good point, just to clarify here is the current list of non-home grown players, i've omitted Friedal and Ekotto for obvious reasons.

1 Hugo Lloris
2 Younès Kaboul
3 Jan Vertonghen
4 Vlad Chiricheș
5 Paulinho
6 Roberto Soldado
7 Emmanuel Adebayor
8 Érik Lamela
9 Michel Vorm
10 Eric Dier
11 Mousa Dembélé
12 Federico Fazio
13 Nacer Chadli
14 Christian Eriksen
15 Benjamin Stambouli
16 Étienne Capoue
17 Nabil Bentaleb
18 DeAndre Yedlin

I would sincerely hope though that we shift at least one of: Chiriches, Paulinho, Soldado, Adebayor, Dembele or Capoue in January.

It's a joke that Dier doesn't count as HG

Just to clarify-as Yedlin was born after 1/1/93 he can join us on 1/1/15 despite us having the maximum 17 non-HG in our squad.

I know I'm probably on my own on this but I'd actually rather keep Naughton for the rest of the season rather than have Yedlin on the bench

We can then give Yedlin some gradual exposure and reassess Naughton's contract in the summer

Like Dier and Kane who are all born the same year, Yedlin doesn't need to fit into the registered 25 man squad to play domestic football for us this season. Next season he'll need to be registered, but this one he'll count as U21 and can play.
Europa League however, if we want him to play there he'll have to replace one of our current guys (maybe even a non home grown one, I don't remember how many hg we got atm), as UEFA demand a player to have been with a club for at least two years if he is to count as a U21 player.

I don't see any downside to bringing him in. He can train with the first team, play some u-21 games and against Sheffield and provide depth in case of injury and will allow Dier to focus on playing CB. The sooner he can start getting instruction from Poch, the better.

Bentaleb is homegrown and has been here for 3 years

I say keep should keep Naughton for the rest of the season. Get Yedlin back in Jan and loan him to an EPL team, that way he can get used to the league and the country before even kicking a ball for us.

I don't think the Kyle's will let him near Brammall Lane if they're right to play.

Would imagine Ceballos would be the one who makes way. He is non home grown. Now that he is not signing a new contract he seems to have been completely frozen out of the team so i'm sure it will be his place that is taken in the squad.

Well the club appealed for the work permit, so someone at the club must want him in the squad in January. If he is in, he can obviously train with the team and play U21 games - I think they will assess him early, and make a decision on Naughton based on Yedlin's readiness.
