I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't think he's as bad as some are saying, but to be honest I have more than once read opinions on him and come away thinking he gets quite a lot of leeway from most fans and the errors and daft shit get brushed over sometimes.

Personally, he's not really my ideal type of centre back and I think it's debateable as to whether he was at that point worth the fee and being our record signing, but he's a good robust option to have, is still very young, and CB's with recovery pace are quite rare and will always command a premium.

I agree with this, I personally can't see how people can say he is for sure going to be world class where as with Foyth, his attributes are far more obvious for him being the potential to be an incredible ball playing defender. I like Sanchez though and I'd say me not seeing how he turns wordclass is more to do with me not being a professional scout than his ability.

I see Sanchez as potential world class. Its all good having a ball playing centre back they are desired but also a robust athletic solid types are also good. A lot of pundits are now going gaga on VVD but it took him time to get to his current level.

I think people are far too quick to slam Sanchez, I really don't get the fiasco (its beginning to boarder on Sissoko levels) as for his passing it's not as bad as people are making out, he can also play.

I think Ajax actually targeted him last night, instantly closing him down as soon as he was in possession, fully aware that his passing isn't the best & he's fairly easily forced into mistakes.

I'm also on the fence when it comes to him. He's big, he's strong, he's reasonably quick. However, he does lack football intelligence & has questionable concentration levels.

He's still a kid in CB terms, so hopefully experience and coaching can address his shortcomings.

Last season he proved his ability, but that was (in my opinion) much down to Vertonghen's calm & assured guidance beside him.

You play Sanchez week in week out instead of how his been rota'd I guarantee you'll see what a defender we have on our books. Anyway Sanchez is the least of our squad concerns.

He’s been a rock today. Mature performance unlike that young hothead Alderweireld who kept losing his man.

Very, very impressive tonight for Colombia. You really do forget how good he can be as he just kind of blends in usually - I feel like he’s one of those players who really benefits from the viewer just keeping an eye on him throughout the entire match.

Agree...excelled tonight and dominated the game....will have a huge influence on Columbia's progress in this competition.

Agreed. Excellent performance. Very solid. He'll be imperious for us once he's matured more.

and to think some don't rate him.

So good today. Won every header, could play high back line because he’s fast enough to run back, seems better with the ball. With Queiros as manager he will be their key player

In a weird way I actually think he’s better playing out from the back when he’s on the left. He’s always played there for both Colombia and Ajax. There’s just something about the angles and body shape he has in that position that gives him more passing options. Have always found it weird that Pochettino plays Toby on the left when they play together.

I think his performances suffered last year because he was in and out of the side. He has all the attributes to be a world class player.

His all round play for us has 90% of the time been excellent. Was just all about cutting out the odd error very much like Foyth. They really could be an unbelievable pairing in 2 or 3 years.

I said throughout the season when Vert was injured that I couldnt understand why Poch plays sanchez on the right after his performance vs England and this has just added to that feeling.

Our fans do t realise what a talent we have. He will be a rock once he has a regular starting position nailed down.

Like the boy.
Bit impulsive at times
but experience and viewing some Ledley videos
will knock that out of him.
Has all the attributes for success
and some of the faults of a 23yr.old
in a responsible position.

Good defender not sure on his ability with the ball and with the way we play I think that is important.
