Well since he's signed he's shown nothing to me on the pitch that he can cope at this level so i say we cut our losses and get rid in January.

My guess is that Sanchez will play at the back and Dier will be a useful utility fill in when needed in multiple positions. He'll cover CB and Wanyama and in a stretch a full back position. Sanchez has something of the Ledley's about him, with pace, power and good awareness/technique. His pace will certainly help us as neither Toby nor Jan are really blessed with much. Plenty of opportunity to grow but might have to cut out some of the sliding challenges in the Premier League.

Just out of interest, what's the record transfer for a CB, I can't recall too many above 40m ?

Not sure he's the messiah, but the bits and pieces I have seen of him at Ajax he's a decent player and adds things we lack at centre back with his raw athleticism.

However, a couple of concerns:

a) Suggests predominantly going three at the back. I notice a lot of fans like to hang their hat on one formation, 'we play better with 3-4-3' etc, personally I'd hope we continue to be flexible from game to game and tailor our approach according to the opposition.

b) I am one of those who'd much rather see Dier's long term future at centre back - the murmurs are suggesting otherwise though (if the other CB comes in too). I don't think midfield is his best option, particularly if it is to be three at the back predominantly.

We shall see.....

Yeah whoever is in charge of Spurs online presence or there PR department should be sacked for not making that happen.
This is the exact thing we make fun of Arsenal or West Ham for doing, I'm very happy we just announced with a tweet and link. Would be cringey otherwise.

I was thinking about this earlier. Spending 35 mil on a CB suggests that we will be playing 3 at the back a lot next season but the fact we are looking to sign Barkley and a Pacey wide forward suggests we will 3 behind the striker.

If we do end up signing a Pacey forward and Barkley, even if we sold Sissoko and GKN, we would have 2 AMs too many for playing 2 behind a striker.

I wonder if this means Lamela will be moved on soon.

We shall. Four competing for three positions across four comps hardly derails Dier as a CB in a two let alone a three. This excellent signing also keeps 2cv suitably away from the first team too.

Or maybe the club is trying to add some depth because they want to take Europa more seriously this season???

What pacey forwards we linked to? Aside from Martial which is a total pipe dream I've seen depressingly few links to these and I agree we need badly. All I see is CBs and CMs

In addition to Martial, we have been linked with Keita Balde, Mahrez and Josh King but I wouldn't rule out someone not yet linked.

JJ, Gards & Hercules seem confident we will get one and other ITKs have stated we are trying to bring one in.

You could be correct about CB being Dier's better position as I think he is behind Wanyama Dembele and Wilks in the pecking order at CM. Saying that with the acquisition of Sanchez, I want to see the best as our back 3 and I do suspect that Sanchez is better than Dier, so that would relegate Dier to the bench as a squad player
