Yes definitely for the coming season but on the plus side we would have a much more youthful squad for the future. Clarke as well is a good signing. It wouldn't be ideal and we'd do well to get 4th again but it wouldn't be a disastrous window like last season.

Personally I think we'd need another left back, CM and forward for it to be considered good for this season. We have to look at RB as well to see if anyone exceptional becomes available.

Are you seriously saying you are happy with us going into the season weaker, that this is another transitional season and that we should be doing well to finish 4th?

Madness. The whole point is that we are looking to move up a level now and challenge City and Liverpool. We don't have another 5 years to make a plan to win the league, Kane will be fucking 30 by then. I think people are crazy if they think Poch is going to spend another 5 years building up a side to win the league. He won't stick around that long to wait to win stuff and nor will our best players..

If we are selling Rose and Trippier we surely must be buying better players to replace them.

Oh wow. So it's confirmed by the club. That's that, then. Hopefully we get a better replacement in. In my world that would basically only be Digne, even though I've never been that overly keen on him, Firpo, who seems to be going to Barca, or.......... not sure? I can't even think of a clear upgrade in LB over Rose that would be available. Ryan Sess does not do it for me, I'd rather we start Davies.

Kieran Tierney is who we should ho for

Honestly not that convinced by him either. But I could very well be wrong. Poch might have a Trippier 2.0 lined up from somewhere, much like Robertson, that just turns up and is class, even though they have played at a small/shit club.

Yeah I don't agree with it but reckon that's what will happen. I think it will be Sessegnon and Lo Celso in with Trippier, Rose, Toby and Eriksen all leaving. Not sure we will do anything else with Saliba and Ceballos off to the Goons. Would leave us short by 2 or 3 players.

Sounds like squad weakening more than strengthening

I don't think any of us have enough information to draw any conclusions yet.

Despite the experience of last summer, or my lifetime as a Spurs fan, I don't see us doing anything foolish here.

Levy knows he will loose Poch and also the stability of CL football, £100m of revenue, and premium sponsors if he doesn't keep him happy and refresh the squad to his satisfaction.

The money will be there, particularly if we protect or cash in on dwindling assets, so the ball is firmly in Poch's court to sign off on departures and signings as we go down the list.

Our biggest challenge this summer was to replace Dembele and Eriksen, if necessary.

So long as we pull that off with GLC, everything else can be a Foyth style development project, particularly in more advanced positions.

Trippier and Rose weren't exactly owning the full back positions, so much as Aurier and Davies were never fit.

There are very few complete modern full backs in world football, so it makes perfect sense to develop one or two younger ones, and rely on the similar calibre deputies in the meantime. If we stand still, the situation is only going to get worse, not better.

Rose was more essential last year as we needed his best attribute, ball progression, which we were terrible at. Winks and NDombele negates that reliance on Rose best qualities, so it allows Poch to build the team in a different way.

I'm apprehensive but also pretty positive we'll get it right at FB.

Eriksen / GLC is a far greater concern for me, but very worst case we can eat the £70m write down, and splurge most of our resources next year to keep our place in the Top 4, and challenge next year.

Tierney could be good option if we lose Rose, with added bonus that it will piss off Arsenal

The bloke's constantly missed international duty to try and nurse his way through injuries and has now had a double hernia operation. I just don't see us taking a gamble that it's all solved. Maybe next season if he actually stays mostly fit for a year, assuming Arsenal don't just blow £35m or whatever it'll take for him in the mean time.

The intention is to take off over the next five years not by the end of the next five years but this season may be a pause for the big launch next year, it's not a choice it's a consequence of building a title winning side, keep the faith.

Read my post. Didn’t say I’d be happy with it. But the one plus would be replacing a bunch of 27-29 year olds with those 4 or 5 years younger.

The reality is we need to build a new team and let them grow together. The signings we have made and seem to be close to making indicate that. Of course we need at the least 2 more on top of GLC and RS but long term it is the right plan for building a footballing philosophy and sustainable business model.

Ideally we will get a couple more young players to fill in at left back, central midfield and up front.

Should seriously be looking at left back Jamal Lewis from Norwich. Made his debut for NI in 2018 and was named in the Championship team of the season. My Mrs is a season ticket holder at Carrow Road and I occasionally go and watch them, or try and watch them as much as possible. A lot is said about Max Aarons but Lewis for me is the better of the two.

I’d imagine the young lad from Fulham is lined up as replacement then.
