If we didn't need to buy players elsewhere, LB would need upgrading imo. Danny's control and all around football ability just disappears into thin air as soon as he gets within 35 yards of the goal

What. He was our best player, what an odd time to make such a criticism.

His actual ability and desicion making in the final third does leave a bit to be desired, but he has a pretty eye catching style which does give him if not a free ride, then at least a somewhat cheaper ride than many others.

Based on his energy, commitment and endeavour he is a wonderful member and my favourite grafter in the team.

Just needs to gain confidence to pull the trigger again. He created a great opportunity for himself last night.

How are some people shitting on Rose for his performance last night? He was a constant nuisance for their defence, fed Moura in god knows how many times and saved our skins on at least two occasions.

He was completely back to his old self last night.

He is trying a bit too hard. His delivery not quite up to scratch....situation made worse by Trippiers inability to get to the touchline atm. Rose is what he is....heart on the sleeve, full on player...you can't pick and choose the bits you like

Agreed, rough round the edges but I loved his effort last night, definite MOTM contender on a difficult night. Like you said he made two excellent last ditch tackles.

Last night was difficult though because the box was full of Brighton players. He's always going to be a lot more effective in a game that is more open. He's a warrior as well and always seems to be in a war with someone. You need players like that to be fired up as it also gets the crowd going too. Seeing Taricco in the crowd last night reminds me how nasty a player could be. Rose isn't that bad though, he sort of plays right on the edge without going overboard. I'd like to see Alli show a bit more of that as he doesn't seem to be playing on the edge much anymore. Not that I want any red cards mind, just get the balance right.

The big question with Rose is can he get back to 3 game a week level of fitness. I actually really like Davies as a left back, just not so much as a wing back. I'd maybe look at bringing in Sess this summer so we can rotate Rose with Davies if we go with fullbacks, or Sess if we go wingbacks (but he could also play in front of Davies/Rose as a wing forward). That would certainly increase our options on that side and not be over reliant on Rose being fit.

He was really good last night but his delivery and final ball is still piss poor.
Honestly, when you’ve got 11 men defending a box against 4 attackers, chances are the defence will win out every time. Doesn’t matter if it was Rose or David Beckham putting the crosses in.

I agree that Rose’s crosses are generally bad, but last night wasnt the game to criticise him for them imo

There was still a few times when he just simply over hit the cross and it went out of play. Nothing to do with having a packed box.

His delivery isn’t really good enough, if he could improve it he’d be almost the complete leftback although defensively he still makes mistakes occasionally.

Furthermore I would say that we played into Brighton's hands by trying to cross all night for our giant centre forward. Their defenders thrive on that kind of aerial game and would go on winning every ball for the next fortnight if we kept playing. However we did see they kept retreating back with the odd hole opening up for shots from outside the box and clearly used that as a strategy which in the end brought the goal. It was a tough game with them executing their plan alomst to perfection. It's a while since I played football but always, always it was easy to stop players whereas creating chances let alone scoring was the hard part of the game

still not back to his technical best to my eye but you cant question his effort. must be a nightmare to play against him on that side because he never lets up.

Fair play to him, he's only saying what pretty much everyone is thinking.

BUT.....

I know he was only answering a question, but I do wish he'd sometimes just refuse to answer questions that aren't specifically about him or a game.

People (the club?) very much remember his previous somewhat ill advised comments to the press, so maybe Danny could sometimes simply throw in the old, "It's not my place to comment on that sort of thing" and move on to the next question.

(This is not a dig, I love the guy.)

Yes and no. There is a degree of responsibility that’s reasonable to expect from all footballers when representing their clubs in interviews. But equally, a dissenting voice that isn’t motivated by greed or revenge or a need to cause chaos (or any other self serving motivations) is fundamental to the evolution of any organism. Without these voices how are we able to reflect and evaluate, modify and adapt?

Rose treads a fine line, but he speaks from the heart- a heart that is sometimes overwhelmingly passionate- and, like you, I love the guy probably for the same reasons

Davies can also play centrally. Gives Poch another option.
