I keep saying it, but he has been consistently good for most of the season, up there with Sissoko for player of the season.

Aaand he's injured again

Edit: Good news, just a gashed shin. Late fitness test for tomorrow, but no way that keeps him out any longer.

People are being a bit harsh on poor Danny boy.

It's as though you've all forgotten that he's a fully pledged CM now & was played out of position yesterday. :cautious:

I just don't get why he let the ball go through his legs. He looked injured so maybe didn't want to kick it but it's insane to do that without knowing who is behind him.

Then he is questioning his teammates for not telling him. He might have a point that all it needed was someone to say away or man on but he is a professional football and needs to be aware of his surroundings.

All he had to do was control it and swivel to kick the ball out for a throw in

Can anyone explain why he did that? He cost us the game with that action

Because like many others in this team at the moment, they think they've fucking made it.

Wankers, to a man.

I put our current struggles down to complacency. If you don't sign anyone, there is no pressure on your position and you get into a comfort zone. It happened at Arsenal for years and it's happening with us. Players need all kinds of motivation to perform at their best and competition for places is so important. How many genuine first team players have we signed in the last 2 years? How many quality youngsters are pushing for a place? Unfortunately we are in a slump and it's our own doing. This summer is the time to rejuvenate the squad, much the same as Fergie did at Utd where he constantly reinvented his teams despite huge success. I don't hold out much hope though.

I think that error was a wonderful example of his overall game these days - lack of focus.

What we get is a mix. At times his old tenacious energetic driven self is on display, but then half the time he seems to be playing as if he's in some all-star exhibition game. Someone who is trying to play with a bit of swagger and arrogance but not really in the right way, or at the right times, and daft mistakes following. I don't have any problem with a footballer trying to expand and develop his game and be more ambitious with their play, but the reality is he often writes cheques his ability cant quite cash.

The mentality needs to change a bit, in my opinion.

Because despite all the hype on here, he is not actually any good.

Harsh! He's still our best defensive FB. Fucked up today with the goal today no question, but he's not generally error-prone defensively. He's up there with the best left-sided FBs in the league.

Is he?

Im not Rose biggest fan at all but these stats are a bit skewed as he has only played half the mins of the others.

Says more about his injury proneness.

Edit: Will just add, I think he's the best full back we have. The claims that he's one of the best in the league is bullshit though.

One of the best seeing as there's only one player who is clearly head and shoulders above everyone this season then I don't see how it's BS?

I rate rose but he’s been taking liberties from the Burnley game. Trying to dribble through people when there are options available seems to be happening a handful of times a game and just doing stupid stuff in general. Just play a normal game and it’s good enough the vast majority of the time.

Well they're not because they're per 90 stats.

They're still skewed because he's been in and out the team, difficult to build up rhythm and consistency if you find yourself on the bench every other match.

He did a fantastic move in 1 moment during the second half against Southampton, was thoroughly impressed but from there he began overextending himself trying to dribble and be over elaborate, the mistake felt inevitable with some of the choices he's been making recently. I like when our players believe in their ability but fuck me a lot of our defenders really do not read danger. That's what makes Alder stand out, he never overextends himself.
