I really, really, really, really, really don't want us to sell Rose, especially if we're signing Sessegnon, whom I believe would benefit massively from training with Rose (as well as being coached by Pochettino).

Agree but it looks like we need to get used to it.

You’re short of a couple more ‘reallys’
If Poch sees your post he might keep Rose but only if there are enough ‘reallys’ in your post.

He's one of those players who I hope goes overseas for his next club. It would feel strange and sad seeing him play against us.u

PSG and Juve battling it out for a Spurs LB?

I never thought I'd see the day. :)

The reality is that this transfer competition will set Danny Rose's market value. Then, Danny will have a choice:

1) get a big move away on presumably a much larger salary, and see if he wants to face the challenge of playing in front of Italian crowds with their unfortunately all too frequent racism, or playing with a prima donna like Neymar

or

2) decide the grass isn't always greener, Spurs have an excellent squad with outstanding new signings and a manager who has massively improved his game, and see if we will match the PSG/ Juve salary offer.

I hope Danny chooses 2, assuming there's nothing going on behind the scenes that we are unaware of.

I think we've made Danny's choice for him in omitting him from the squad that's away on a pre-season tour. We obviously have decided to move him on now, whilst we can still demand a decent transfer fee and given the availability of a bright young prospect in Sessegnon.

Happy for Rose to stay but a new contract? Not for me, if he regains his form for a whole season, good for Spurs, then let him go next Summer, to offer a longer term could see us with a severly diminished player, he relies on speed and aggression and they both start to wane come 30...Still one of my favourite players though.

I think you’re forgetting how bad he was as left back

He wasn't bad at left back.

In fact when Bale broke into the team he was switching between the two positions and equally impressive in both.

Obviously he ended up being far better further up, but he was a decent left back too.

Weird that we are selling him now that he is fit again. But maybe it's at his own request - although that would be even weirder for a guy who says he misses his mum up north all the time.

I don't think it is at his request as he was coming out saying he'd sign a new contract if offered and basically saying up to club if they wanted to keep him.

Still seems strange we're willing to let him go but maybe Poch does just feel if we are to push on we need someone with better delivery like Sessegnon at left back.

At least we'd know not to expect a decent cross into our box from their left full back

You need to come to terms with his departure. We've probably got a Danny Rose-Peters in the development side ready to step up.

I get the impression we don’t want him don’t you?
We were trying to get rid of him last year too. The more important question is why nobody wanted him last year and why they are not queuing round the block for him now??
Because he is not a good as he was before he got injured 3 years ago imo.
Reading between the lines I’m guessing after Rose done the sun interview a few years back Pochettino refused to sell him for a year, keeping him as a backup and promising him a big money move after that season unfortunately for him there were no takers so the situation is the same in this window

I suspect it’s that and the mental health problems that he has been public about. Remember his comments about a club asking him if he’s still crazy. As ridiculous as they were, I can bet you there’s other clubs thinking the same thing, especially in England. They see him speaking to the sun and then speaking in post match press interviews and they probably wonder if they need the hassle. Unfortunately I suspect there is something in that. Football is still in the dark ages in lots of respects.

Most of the top clubs are investing in youth with the odd high value purchase. Tripps and Rose have have done well and are unlikely to get better in a role that most teams what very quick, high energy players. Both though represent good value with heaps of experience so priced right can be off the books so freeing up spaces, reducing the wage bill and so allowing us to refresh the squad. Maybe there are behind the scenes issues but there is enough logic in these transfers from our point of view

Arranging a meeting off his own back with the sun and talking about his “low wages” and spurs lack of ambition while he had been injured for 6 months would put a lot of future employers off mental illness or no mental illness I would imagine.

I share that impression.

But I don't want to speculate because I suspect there may be plenty we don't know.

This "Lion" character spoke about some "clause in DR's terms". It's probably BS but, if its exists, I wonder whether it was an existing clause that kicked in at some stage in his contract (like Toby's release fee in the last year), or whether it's part of the ongoing negotiations with Juve.

BREAKING: Danny Rose is allowed to travel to italy to conclude talks to Juventus. The clause in the terms he has signed will come handy Dybala very much in balance
