Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri driving the club's move for Tottenham full-back Danny Rose
  • New Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri is interested in signing full-back Danny Rose
  • The Tottenham man has two years left on his contract, but is available to buy
  • Rose has been at Tottenham for 12 years and has also played for England
Maurizio Sarri is driving Juventus's move for Danny Rose.

New Juventus boss Sarri specifically asked his employers to make a move for Rose, 29, following his return to Italy after leaving Chelsea.

Spurs are ready to cash in on a second full-back this summer after already selling Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid for £20m.

Trippier's deal was sorted just before Spurs flew to Singapore and Rose was also left out of Mauricio Pochettino's touring squad ahead of an anticipated move.

Sarri feels he has space for another left-back in his squad with the possibility that new signing Luca Pellegrini will be loaned out to Cagliari.

And his personal intervention underlines his determination to secure Rose who also has interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Schalke.

Spurs have lined up Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon to replace Rose and are close to agreeing a fee with the relegated Cottagers.

Would Definitely have Rose as number 1, love the guy.
Sharp and hard in the tackle, bombs on, technically good (see several turns/skills/megs in the last 1/4 of the season)

Weird that we are selling him now that he is fit again. But maybe it's at his own request - although that would be even weirder for a guy who says he misses his mum up north all the time.

Are these everyone from the Premier League era? Tried to rank them.

1 Christian Ziege (*)
2 Benoit Assou-Ekotto
3 Danny Rose
4 Lee Young-pyo
5 Clive Wilson
6 Ben Davies
7 Erik Edman
8 Mauricio Taricco
9 Justin Edinburgh
10 Reto Ziegler
11 Timothée Atouba (!)
12 Paolo Tramezzani
13 Gilberto

* More of a midfielder though, certainly not lb in a flat 4
! Not sure how one can rank Atouba, he was just something different

Whenever I think of Edman I just think of THAT goal against Liverpool.

Isn’t Italy typically quite racist? I.e. players have expressed that as a reason as to not go to an Italian club?
Or am I making that up?
If so, Juve seems a strange destination.
Apologies if that’s incorrect. I just thought I had read that at some point this window in another thread.

You’re forgetting the left back we had that was so good going forward we played him further up the pitch * ended up being sold for a world record fee, I’d put him at the top of that list.

Followed by Danny Rose in 2nd.

I have really liked Danny Rose and still do i guess. He been a good player for us.
I know he had his problems but still im a little disappointed about his behavior.

He wants to go north, he wants to leave, hes not paid enough, not being a professional and joining the pre season (hes till under contract and playing for spurs is his job).
I think its time for Danny to try another club now. Let him go and then maybe he will be happy. Then he will see if he can get all the things he clearly cant at spurs.
Absolute twaddle
And following on from my previous post, i'd certainly have BAE as better, and (in my time watching) Ziege, who had a brilliant left foot. Hard to think of too many decent left backs we've had though in the past 20 years. Had a season ticket that covered Paulo Tramazini (?),Reto Ziegler ,Timothy Atouba and a very poor Brazilian who's name escapes me......it's not been a strong position.
You forgot Yippy Lee in that list
Danny Thomas ?
He was a right back, my all time Spurs favourite

You are correct. I did raise my eyebrows when I heard of him going there.

You obviously never saw Ziege try and defend. He had great left foot but made Trippier look like Maldini. It was the main reason he was binned by Liverpool.

It’s a stretch putting him in as an LB as well. He only really played as an LB very rarely. Was primarily a wing back and often played left midfield as well.

Much as Ziege was a Rolls Royce of a player, he was knackered by the time he joined us.

I have a big soft spot for Taricco, he was sensational in the 5-1 v Chelsea, and was generally a very committed player who did have a kick of talent too.

Ekotto just edges our Rose as my favourite modern left back though, for four years under Redknapp he was exceptional. His skill and passing were a joy, and despite what that idiot Hansen commented after one bad game v Everton, he was actually a very robust defender who wasn’t easy to get the better of. I wish him every luck in his porno career.

Verts might be the best left back we've had. Although he's not a left back. I'm a massive fan of both BAE and Rose, couldn't really chose between those two.
But I am of the opinion that Erik Edman was underrated. Whilst he wasn't spectacular, he was in the same mould as Davies. And he was very much part of the Frank Arnesen era which was exciting.

In the last 4 seasons Rose has played 78 league games, scored 3 and made 9 assists.

During the same period Davies has played 96 games, scored 3 and made 11 assists.

Davies is not as eye catching but he is a better more flexible defender, and is a couple of years younger. He has proven his worth.

He’s also a lot better than Rose going forward but he has the fatal flaw of being unable to get back in a month of Sunday’s if and when we lose the ball.

Whilst I agree with your points and think that Davies is criminally underrated by many considering he has been a mainstay in his position during the club's best ever period during the PL era, I also think that your stats only tell half the story. Yes it is wonderful when full backs can chip in with goals and assists (look at Liverpool last season - wow), however when comparing Rose and Davies it would also be valuable to see their relative stats for defensive contributions too.
