Yes, but he wasn't forcing a move and was said that he accepted the clubs decision if he wasn't sold, he was 1 into a 5 year contract.

According to some Walker was abusive to Poch. As I recall he was unhappy about rotation with Trippier. He also made comments about Poch changing our training to lighten the load on players as the season came to an end. It is my understanding that he was not allowed to discuss these matters. Poch was not amused.

For a start, theres no chance Aurier leaves and isn't replaced, so theres another option with Foyth centrally

Similarly no ones actually gone yet.

As discussed with someone yesterday, if we include all our sales and hardly any incomings, its pretty obvious we would be short of players. The same as every team.

This is key. Countless times in the last few weeks of the season we saw chance after chance fall away because of poor end product from the FB's. Let's not forget we fell away badly last season and I think this is largely the cause. Both need replacing and I hold no sentiment over it at all.
So Rose and Trippier was to blame for our falling away badly because of no end product? I don't think so somehow. Defensive lapse against Bournemouth, Southampton, Burnley, Wolves, West Ham et al is why we fell away imo.

There were only a handful of players that drove us into the CL final and played very well at said final and Rose was one of them.

No they weren't to blame but i definitely look at the Liverpool model of full backs and feel we could be getting more from ours.

Don’t think Toby is leaving this year.

People are being harsh on rose being a cause for our problems last year, he was decent and improved as the season went on. Funny thing is though when Rose first came in he was a poor left midfielder and was converted into a left back, he struggled defensively first year he played that role but rapidly improved.

Someone like Sessegnon could actually be the heir apparent, similarly struggled defensively, isn’t really rapid or tricky enough to be a forward but does have an excellent final ball. At 19 he is miles ahead of where rose was and will get thrown in next to Jan...with Davies in support. If there was ever a scenario for a kid to come in and learn to defend this is it.

Wish we were keeping rose as his mentor but hard to see that happening at this point.

If he wants to play up north and we won't sell to a rival club where does he actually go?

Manchester is out, I assume the red half of Liverpool too. Everton is an option but I doubt we'd be overly keen to sell to them either.

Burnley, Newcastle...you'd think that would not appeal to him.

Leicester and Villa aren't really *north*.

If it is England, It can only be Everton surely.

Checked on their forums and there is very little talk of him or rumours/gossip.

I think it's more likely than not that he won't find a buyer.

In the current market PL teams aren't really buying off one another. 10 years ago a much larger proportion of transfers were from within the league - if you look at our 09/10 squad about 70% were bought off other PL teams whereas our current squad was largely bought from abroad or the lower leagues (only Sissoko, Llorente, Wanyama and Davies were bought from other PL teams). The same goes for our recent signings and top targets - they're almost exclusively Championship or playing abroad.

The mid-table clubs are so rich now that there's less of a need to sell so if only happens in exceptional cases like AWB (huge money for relatively untested youth), Delph (older player allowed to leave for cheap) or Perez (Mike Ashley). It's more feasible and better value to take a punt on a promising young championship player for cheap (Clarke) or a foreign player that costs significantly less.

I'm rambling but my point is, who is actually going to stump up the cash to sign a 29 year old PL fullback on pretty big wages? Levy will want at least £20 million (probably £25-30 from another PL team) and Danny doesn't have the cultured right foot of Trippier that so aroused Europe's big boys.

The kinds of clubs he'll want to play for either won't want to pay the fee or won't want him, whereas the clubs that do want him will be a huge step down and might not have the cash. Bit of a catch 22.

I have really liked Danny Rose and still do i guess. He been a good player for us.
I know he had his problems but still im a little disappointed about his behavior.

He wants to go north, he wants to leave, hes not paid enough, not being a professional and joining the pre season (hes till under contract and playing for spurs is his job).
I think its time for Danny to try another club now. Let him go and then maybe he will be happy. Then he will see if he can get all the things he clearly cant at spurs.

The good thing for us is the versatility of some of these defenders with a few of them (Foyth, Davies and Vertonghen) able to play both centre back and full back positions. That will help our rotation options.

What are you on about? The club left him behind and he literally just gave an interview to say he's happy at spurs and would sign a contract. The club are selling him, he's not agitating for a move. Poch literally just said he will be reintegrated if he doesn't find a club.

Also i'm pretty sure all this 'he wants to be up north' stuff is years old

He's been more than just a 'good' player for us.

Best LB we've had in my time watching.
