Exactly. I love his honesty but sometimes there’s no need to say certain things. If he was asked if he’ll be with us next season, all he has to say is ‘I don’t know’. The age thing is a bit of a naff excuse, it’s almost like he actually wants out sometimes.

If he goes I’ll be extremely thankful for what he’s done for us and very gutted that he’s leaving. We’ll survive of course, especially if we get Sessegnon, but fuck sake Danny, just say ‘I’ll have a chat with the manager’ or something.

Getting really annoyed with his need to comment everytime he talks to the media.

Probably all tied up with whether we get Sessegnon and what our plans are if we do. I'm not at all convinced Sessegnon is ready to be a LB for us yet though.

He isn't, and possibly never will be. And even if we do plan on signing Sessegnon and developing him into an attacking full back, I'd expect Rose to be considered an integral part of that development. Nobody at the club knows better than him what it takes to develop the defensive attributes to succeed in that position in this team. His experience and perspective would be invaluable.

Every club should look at players at 28 and evaluate their future. Although Rose has improved since his injury, he hasn’t got back to pre injury levels. If he stayed I’d have no issues. However if we could get £25m for him bring in a young LB of the same level or better it would just be good business. It’s something Arsenal didn’t do and why they are in the mess they are in.

I don’t disagree with your last sentence but the bit in bold: we’d struggle to find a left back better or same level as Rose on the cheap. We have bigger concerns this summer (RB, CM etc.)

I know Rose isn't everyone's cup of tea, but we'd be mad to 'move him on'. He's been with us since he was 16 (I think), and in that time through sheer grit and determination has remodelled himself into one of the top Lb's in the country. He's an example of what can be achieved, leaves nothing on the field when be plays and he deserves some respect In that sense. Maybe his outspokenness is a bit of a defence mechanism, he just wants to feel wanted.
Plus I have major respect for him for talking about Mental health. I think that shows a strength of character that is an asset to any team.

I think Rose just wants a new deal tbf. Defensively, it'd be a horrendous downgrade if we swapped him for Digne. The guy is a worse defender than Trippier, but better going forward.

Except Digne completed more tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks per game than Rose in the league last season.

I know that stats do help a lot with arguments but watching games you can see that Rose is solid defensively and has a steely determined mentality. Players like him who understand how lucky they are to be footballers give it their all on the pitch and never hides. You will never ever see the guy jogging back. He’s an absolute warrior and competitor, if anything we need more of him.

Sure, but I still think that a lot of people are sentimental when it comes to Danny Rose and see him as a better player than he actually is.

I don’t really wanna have a dig at Rose because he’s done ok this season. But the fact he can’t play 3 games in a week is detrimental especially when you get to the business end of the season. Look at Robertson he played 90% of Liverpool games. Which completely debunks any myth that you have to constantly rotate your full backs. If they are young enough and fit enough there shouldn’t be an issue. I know there’s a lot of sentimentality around Rose. But if we could get £25m for him then£35m we should be able to get a younger fitter quality replacement.

None of our full backs are expected to play 3 games a week which is why we have at least two of each.

Rose needs to stay we don't need to lose the fighting spirit he brings. More pressing positions to upgrade.

It's almost like Everton are on the backfoot more than we are? Teams that have to do more defending in "having players that have to do more defending" shocker. Rose is a vastly superior defender to Digne. I can use my eyes and the fact I've actually watched them both to deduce that, in place of reading stats out of context to form an opinion. Digne also got more red cards, committed 50% more fouls and scored more own goals than Danny (1). Easy to do what you did, isn't it?

Fans will always look for a reason to bash Rose

People saying well they are numerous example of that not being true but we do tend to sell players when they get a certain age, obviously that's not true all the time as there are exception in relation to vertonghen, he is irreplaceable as there are few CBs of his quality

The fact is we only have 2 players over the age of 30 does suggest he is right(not including GK's). The fact that they are both CB's is not a coincidence as this is a position that tends to favour experience over athleticism.

Rose just says what everyone is thinking so I don't see the need to have a go at him, seems like people only like straight talkers when it benefits them for example when he stuck it to Ruud Gullit why didn't people speak out against that?

Rose is a bit of a straight talker obviously but he’s a character and he sets the tone.

I know who’d I’d rather have in the side against Arsenal or Chelsea she it comes to Digne or Rose.

We’d be stupid to ‘move him on’. He’s still got a few years left. Nice summer resting up now and getting fully fit for next season.

I’d say he, Kane, Winks and Jan get it. Could do with a few more like Danny imo.

Rose is one of the first names on the teamsheet in my opinion, but given his age and the fact he gets injured practically once or twice a season for a relatively long period, I don’t blame the club for evaluating his situation. If he stays, good, let’s try and give him the best tools to stay fit and consistently perform well, if we decide to move hom on, I hope we are able to identify an adequate replacement. We cannot afford any more mistakes when recruiting.
