If we actually loaned out Rose (club-trained), and bought Kurzawa (non-HG) before any other outgoings all that good housekeeping bollocks goes out of the window. We'd have net spent to reduce our CL squad size and it might not even be an upgrade.

Anything is an upgrade on 17/18 rose tbf, he was dreadful

On your other point, if this actually happens then you're correct. This whole HG nonsense will be exactly that; nonsense fed from the club.

It's not nonsense in the slightest. Any club can only register 17 over 21 "foreign" players.

I think you misunderstood my post

I know about the homegrown rules. What I meant was that this whole "we need to make room before we buy" stuff was nonsense fed from the club to the media if we replace Rose(HG) with Kurzawa(NHG)

I did, sorry. Maybe the bullet's being bitten now.

ROSE LATEST

We understand that along with Schalke, Danny Rose has been given permission to talk to other unnamed clubs over a season long loan move.

There have been reports in France that Spurs could sign PSG's Layvin Kurzawa should Rose leave the club this window.

from Sky Sports.

Does anyone think that we might be doing this as a sweetener to get one of their players? I'm not too familiar with them, but I've had a look at the squad list; the only one I'm aware of that I would like is Embolo. Anyone know of any decent players that play for them?

They don't have a single player that would get in our first 11.

Maybe the young american midfielder Weston Mckennie.

Not only that, Rose is club trained. You can't even buy a replacement for him in the CL squad.

Sky now saying we are talking to multiple clubs about loan deals.

At this rate us ending this window with a weaker squad (on paper) seems an inevitability with our desire to ship Rose and Toby out.

I don't disagree. But he may have burned his bridge or Poch may feel he desperately needs a fresh start. In his interview about depression he talked about the bad things that happen at football clubs that he won't talk about. Who knows. Just speculating.
Doubt moving to Germany will help his depression..

No, the best player we could get from them would be Amine Harit. We would be very happy with him. He has got pace, technique, creativity, the lot. I have mentioned him before in the BuLi thread (as Schalke is the team I follow in the Buli). He's only been there a year but I find it hard to believe they would let him leave as he is central to their attack (as it is).

I'm so baffled by our transfer "strategy". Nothing makes sense.

(1) Why would we loan out an HG left-back and replace with a non-HG player when our problem is we don't have enough HG players?
(2) Why have we failed to sell top level Premier League players when we wanted to sell them?
(3) Why did we wait all summer to bid the money Aston Villa were asking for Grealish, only to be told when we finally did bid that he was not for sale?
(4) Why is a Championship club facing a FFP penalty calling all the shots on the sale/non-sale to a team in the Champions League?
(5) Why did we vote to bring the Transfer window deadline forward only to complain that the transfer window was too short?

I'm tired of the excuses. Spurs have done a great job overall going from utter rubbish in the early 2000s to where we are now with a high quality squad in the Champions League with a new stadium. It's a phenomenal achievement and Levy deserves huge credit.

But the club has to admit it's got its transfer strategy all wrong. Heads shouldn't role. People shouldn't be blamed. Not everything happens as you want. But until the club admits that the current way of doings things isn't working, we're always going to slightly hold ourselves back every season. We should start learning from our mistakes.

If this window goes as it's looking it will, fine. But it should be the catalyst for a change of transfer "strategy".
