If the choice was between Eriksen signing a new deal or getting Lo Celso it’s a no brainer for me. Eriksen all day.
We need to be showing net improvements to the squad though. Ndombele is but short term you can argue RS for Rose isn't. We still need a couple of players.

The key now will be recouping money for the dross which is going to be very tricky.

Now AliZ's or Dragon's ITK (I think?) makes sense about us needing to shift Janssen and GKN to get Lo Celso.

I do agree that he needs competition, but to spend £60-70 million on a player that wouldn’t start (in my opinion) is hefty old price when we are looking to improve other areas. I struggle to see with Eriksen, Son, Alli, N’Dombele, Winks, Sissoko and Lucas where he fits.

I'm guessing he'll be battling for both winks and eriksens spots. Either of them go out we will struggle with creativity.

If he does sign a new contract I hope there are some accompanying comments in the announcement along the lines of being committed to the club and our new challenge

I dont know how much one should read into official posting from the club in social medias.
But, i was glad to se the video where Poch and CE where kicking the ball to each other, ending with a laugh and a hug.
I think ive seen earlier that players that are on their way out are not featured in (at all often) in the different updates in social media from the club.

Nothing would make me happier than CE signing a new deal. This guy is probably one of the best players for spurs in the last couple of decades.

Fully agree they need cover/competition, just can’t see us paying that fee, wouldn’t complain however!

An Eriksen new contract is same as a new signing. So instrumental to everything we do, both good and bad, over last few seasons.

To potentially have him and Ndombele can only make us stronger, and if we manage to get a GLC or similar to supplement this then even better

I get what you’re saying but if we are going to act like a big club, like what Poch is telling us to do, we need to have the balls to bench big money players in games, like City do. Having a player like GLC, who can play in midfield and further forward, would allow us to rest players like Dele and Winks. We’ve not been able to do that throughout the years because the quality of our bench completely pales in comparison to our starting XI

I’d rather it was both

That would be nice though there is a part of me that thinks it’s a bit overkill (unless we sold Lamela or Moura or something)

Assuming we play 4-2-3-1 and keep Eriksen (and sign Lo Celso) we’d have the following going for 3 spots.

Eriksen
Alli
Son
Lamela
Moura
Lo Celso

If all those players are fit it means 2, at most, are on the bench and 1 doesn’t even make the match day squad.

If we play 4-3-3 that some people seem to be in favour of to get a MF of Winks, Sissoko, NDombele then you’d be talking about 4 of those players missing out.

We’re not City, we can’t have players like Alli, Son or Lo Celso (if he’s half as good as people biggin him up to be) on the bench for any extended period of time as they’re to good to be on the bench.

I actually think it’s one of the pluses for Lamela in that I think he’s happy to play a squad role (could be wrong) I couldn’t say the same for the rest of our attacking MF

Having said all that we seem to pick up about 100 injuries a season so maybe we probably won’t be in a situation where we have to bench a couple and/or leave a Moura/Lamela/Lo Celso out of the match day squad.

(Going by CL registration as that’s stricter re Foyth and Davies) At this point, with the players who’ve been released and the knowledge that Janssen and Nkoudou have no part to play, we have 16 non HGs who would be registered. If Eriksen is in fact staying, and it looks like Toby is too, then that leaves space for one more. Suddenly the itk that stated ‘Lo Celso, Ndombele and the Sessegnons in regardless, then it’s a case of one in, on out’ looks spot on.

Foyth took Dembele's spot, Ndombele takes Vorm's so presumably LoCelso would mean curtains for Llorente . We still need a 3rd goalkeeper as well unless we rely on Whitman.

I hear what youre saying but more depth the better I say.

What happens when Eriksen needs a breather or he's injured? Lamela steps in? But his injury record is awful.

Poch can keep the squad healthy and motivated. Plus he'll be able to start with two playmaker style players.

Eriksen AND Lo Celso would be amazing

I feel we will end up getting back Llorente and possibly Wanyama & Dier on the wayout if we sign Lo Celso & as well keep Eriksen

It’s about keeping top players happy though and as great a motivator as Poch is he ain’t going to be keeping Moura or whoever happy if they’re not even making the bench. I doubt any of them will be happy with extended periods on the bench either.

The reason why city can keep them happy is coz they pay them a shit load.

It gives fantastic options off the bench as well which means players not constantly putting in 90 mins+ every week. Keeping them all fresh is crucial, especially towards the end of the season.

Eriksen and Lo Celso can play in a 3 man midfield

Son and Moura would likely also be rotation strikers

Lamela has so far been a good squad player that hasn't kicked up a fuss when not playing.

He's talking to Fiorentina so i imagine we have told him we will be covered, by son/moura and possibly Parrott. Wanyama can't pass a medical so money back on him is difficult to gauge.
