If i were him i'd wait. If we are wanting £70m for him, he'd probably get £50m signing on fee next summer from a big club plus a nice wage.

I don't think he's in it for money at all. I think he'd much rather go to Madrid this season than wait a year. Seems like a decent guy all things considered which is why I took him at his word about signing a new deal. I do wonder if a deal with a RM/Barca clause ends up being the solution.

All depends on RM who have 3 options:-

1. Buckle and sign him now - unlikely until Pogba moves
2. Back out due to Zidane's lack of interest
3. Tell CE to sit back and come in 6-12 months if a deal can't be struck beforehand

Number 3 is probably the worst and most likely scenario.

CE has been super for us for years and if his performances weren't up to usual level at the end of the season then he's just one of a good few. We went from title challengers to damn lucky to qualify for CL in a couple of months. He outran most of the team every game, chipped in with vital, vital goals (hello Brighton) and had to adjust his normal game because we had no other midfielders at times.

He has been super honest in his interview. We, as fans, know exactly where he stands. He'd like to play for the biggest club in the world, this is probably his only chance and if it doesn't work out he'd be more than happy to stay here. I am fine with all that although I'd like us to get a big juicy fee to reinvest rather than him going for free next year. Even if that happens, so be it...going for free is better for him, getting a fee is better for us. The two don't align.

This sucks more than just Eriksen leaving. Madrid is putting the press on through their mouth pieces and could very well cost them Zidane as he doesnt want Eriksen. But Perez probably doesn't care as Poch has recently expressed his desire to manage RM. So we better hope this is just a game to get United to come off it a bit and sell them Pogba.

I doubt very strongly that Zidane is the type of character to leave his job because Perez could only land him a quality player like Eriksen ontop of Hazard and Jovic.

The one thing that sticks in my mind about Eriksen is that he signed a contract at Ajax to make sure they got something worthwhile from his sale. I'd be pretty disappointed if he ran his contract out with us in that case and, I'd expect him to sign something even if it has a release clause for him to go to RM at some future point.

Madrid know they have Eriksen wrapped round their finger, they probably know that Spurs are in a position where they have to deal, their season starts later than ours also so I imagine they're willing to wait closer to the English deadline to see if they can get Pogba and once United don't budge (which they won't) they'll move onto Eriksen.

Glad we wrapped up Tanguy early to stop that option.

I agree we should try and get as much for him as we can. He'll want to look after his interests, we want to look after ours. But there is no point in some of our fans getting angry and acting like jilted lovers.

Can’t understand why a point as simple and clear as this isn’t understood.

He has been open and honest with club and fans throughout. He gave fair notice with plenty of time in his contract for us to get our money. If we can’t make that happen he’s under no obligation to sign a new contract just so we can “Zaha” him out of the market.

Hope he stays but if he goes best of luck. Been an absolute joy to watch.

Younger Eriksen knew time was on his side at that age. Now hes potentially seeing his real big chance at his dream fade away. I guess that's the difference.

cant blame him, one last big contract
but to be honest, he doesn't impose himself on games like a worldclass player should.

Like many players in our squad, hes overhypped. Credits goes to Mr Magic Pochettino for always brining out 130% from his players

He would fit in more with Everton than RM. As we can see, no big clubs wants Eriksen.

It’s not just “one last big contract though is it” he’s going to one of the best teams in the world to win multiple trophies

He has been a very good player for us and if he wants to leave so be it.But he is certainly not irreplaceable and like I say to any player who wants to leave our great club “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”

I kinda suspect they are preparing a package for him, i think they might be interested in Progba, but might not want to play hardball with man utd, plus eriksen at the moment presents pretty good value.

i will always have a soft spot for him and will be sad to see him go. but its his chance to a huge paycheck.

[AS] Real Madrid have dropped all interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen despite Spurs closing in on the transfer of Dani Ceballos. In between negotiations for Dani Ceballos between the two clubs Eriksen’s name was never raised as part of a deal.

No idea how we do Eriksen, Lo Celso and Ceballos.
