Could all be posturing by Madrid, a stand off over the fee.

Would love him to sign a new contract though.
Could be. But that isn't really their style. Their style is to absolutely charm them and make their pursuit as obvious as possible.

The Pogba stuff has Madrid written all over it. The same things being said about Pogba, were said about Modric and Bale. With his agent and his issues, I think this will be the story of the summer.

I think its a matter of time before Pogba acts up. He'll have made a statement saying he wants to leave United before the end of June I reckon.

Might all kick off now France international duty is done. Hopefully the same with Ndombele and us

I still think Madrid won't stump up the necessary cash to sign Pogba.

IF Eriksen stays though, he'll have to sign a new contract. We can't afford to lose him on a free next year.

I was thinking about this... The thing is you can't force him out to any team. So what then?

He doesn't seem the type of person to run down his contract but cash is king...

In truth, he can be both. Aside from the lazy comment and the “not played well since2017” bit. There’s plenty of valid criticisms about his form this year, but it’s also undeniable that he’s a key player for us. When he plays well, we play well, and when he doesn’t play well the team suffers.

The criticism is fair. But it has been way to much this season, compared to some english-men in our team. Eriksen has really not been to bad considering he has played all season without any rest, and we have lost 20 games is it? You have to look at the team in genereal, you would really only look at Sissoko and Son and said they've had a good season. For the rest of the players you really can't.

Let's be frank here, Madrid look for players that are big game players, those that are going to win the CL for them. I don't doubt that they've been watching Eriksen and others for months, he would have been aware of that and any player would have his head turned. But in both games against Ajax and the final (not to mention he almost cost us against City) he went missing.

I'm happy for him to stay but I'd be loathe to give him a big contract without guarantees that he's 100% committed and not just coasting.

They have already signed hazard and pogba seems dead set on going. I'm strangely optimistic. Real can't sign every one.

This. We've scored a lot less goal this season. That's not on one player. Our whole front line hasn't really clicked except for the odd games here and there. Son and Moura have had individual spells where they have been great. But as a collective DESK + Moura haven't reached the heights from previous seasons. I've said this many times but to me it's obvious that Eriksen is made the culprit for no good reason, while in reality the discussion should be aimed all our attacking players. It's often said on here that "When Eriksen plays well, Spurs play well". That's true to a certain extent but you can't just exclude Alli,Kane, Son from that equation. Just as they have a shared responsiblity when things are going well - they have a shared responsibility when things aren't going well.

Maybe it's the WC hang over, or the injuries, or the lack of competition, most likely all of the aforementioned. But it's certainly not down to one specific player wether we play well or not.

Well said. Kane & especially Alli is not getting anywhere near amount of critism Eriksen is getting - every match thread it really is laughable. I almost wish he would leave this window just so these people you see how we would play (even though that is silly to wish for ). I actually can't remember a game in the 6 years he has been here, where we have looked good when he was not on the pitch.

And don't get me started on Sissoko, Winks, Rose who is praised to the roof this season. For losing 20 games and being piss poor going forward? And i'm not even talking about Llorente, Wanyama, Dier, Trippier, Lamela etc. But in football I guess your best players get the most hate, when you're not playing well as a team and I feel that's a bit harsh. Especially considering what he has done for us in 6 years and what an humble down to earth human being he is. We're so lucky to have him and if he signs for another 4 years, that would be amazing. But he needs to have his heart in it!

I love how everyone was saying how much playing our home games away from the lane and the uncertainty over the return date would effect our players, but then when a player actually shows a dip in form it's because he's not committed.

Didn’t they only start 8 matches together this season or some stupendously low figure like that. That’s the reason we had less goals in the team. Plus we don’t have a central midfield goal scorer and our set pieces are dogshit so unlikely to produce an abundance of goals.

I do wonder what on earth people are watching at times. Bar Kane, we don't have a player who contributes more in big games than Eriksen. It is literally statistically false to claim he doesn't contribute in big games. Sure, maybe he doesn't completely dominate play in big games all the time, such as against City, but it's a bit fucking hard when he has to do it by himself whereas City have about 4 creative players. Even then, there are still many big games where he's contributed a goal or assist and played very well generally.

Agreed. He is the creator in chief. I do believe he has limitations though. More & more we involve in deeper, his influence in attacking third wanes. He works as hard as anyone. But IMO, he needs a proper CM partnership alongside, so it helps him focus in attacking play. With our CM injured most games last season, he has had to play deep - thats certainly havent helped him.

NDombele transfer & Winks being fit will help Eriksen get back his mojo back.
