My problem with Eriksen is this. If the quotes that he believes that he has to go somewhere else to win something is correct, then that is a bit rich in my opinion. There is no bigger club trophy than the Champions League where we as a club played in its final on Saturday. Our Defense and defensive midfield all played very well, and was only let down by our front four which included Eriksen. If Eriksen had played to his capabilities and taken the game by the scruff of the neck, like he had done in past big games in previous seasons, and we still lost then I could say at least he tried so he has a point. My point is he had his chance to win a trophy with us and didnt show up. So to come out and make a statement borders on delusion and arrogance in my book. Does he honestly think he can play like that at Real or Barca and get away with it? For those of you who continually defend him and think he has had a good season, then continue to stick your collective heads in the sand. I am not questioning his talent or ability which we know is among the best, I am questioning his effort for us this season wearing a Spurs shirt.
Burnley, Brighton and Inter Milan at home?

The Mail is reporting that Raiola's ban has been suspended pending appeal to the CAS.

If that's true I'm optimistic that Pogba will push for a move. I'm sure he wants it to begin with given the state United are in, the biggest club in the world want to build their midfield around him, and his superagent now has a massive incentive to push it through (if Raiola's ban is upheld upon appeal, his next chance to create a payday for brokering a Pogba move would be in 2021).

Will be very interesting to see what transpires with Pogba now, and what effect that will have on Eriksen. I could see this dragging on for a while.

Lots of papers this morning going with a pogba/bale swap. I wonder if that’s been released by raiola after this ban (I didn’t know about that) having been suspended. Seems a convenient time for 3/4 papers to come out with the same story, almost like they’ve been briefed by someone.

I will never understand how anybody could rate Pogba over Eriksen in my fucking life.

There’s a reason Fergie let him leave on a free, clearly has a billy big bollocks attitude. He has one hell of an agent though, who has managed to convince the world he’s a top player. Like others have said he’s got all the attributes, but the wrong mentality. United were insane to spend what they did on him, and if they’ve any sense left they will sell him while there is interest.

Pogba is like the ultimate luxury player in that he only works best when everyone around him is playing well. However he’s definitely a top player with the wrong mentality but his talent is undeniable. People who don’t rate him read the media too much who seem to have a vested interest in making sure you guys all hate Pogba and they’ve succeeded tbf

Can a player with the wrong mentality ever really be a “top player?”

The history of football is littered with talented players with the wrong mentality who never truly realised their potential.

I really want him to stay but I am not optimistic. I think Real will flirt with him this summer, prioritise other, flashier signings and tell him to sit out the final year of his contract. That is the worst case scenario for us.

If he stays I would like him to actually want to stay and sign a new contract and be the player he was before last season, which by his own high standards I think was a disappointing one although it had typical CE highlights- some key goal and that lovely finish v Everton away, brilliant technique.

Even if he does stay and signs a new deal for us to kick on we need to add another creative midfielder to share the load with him desperately.

I wonder if he'd be willing to sign a deal with a "generous" release clause in it. In interviews he's suggested that if Real didn't come in for him he'd consider signing a new deal and I also get the hint he wouldn't want to screw over the club by leaving on a free. Perhaps a deal with increased terms and a £60-70 million release clause that triggers next summer would be a viable compromise. We're guaranteed another year and don't risk losing him for free while he gets a pay rise and has an option to leave if Barca or Real come in down the line. Win win.

I thought we had itk that it is only one club he has ambition to leave for which presumably means that if that club is Real Madrid then Barcelona isn't an issue. Unless things have changed it was Madrid or new contract.

Not really, his performances speak for themselves, he has struggled to grab games by the scruff of the neck for United despite his obvious talents, You can count on one hand the amount of games where Pogba has actually taken the game and dictated it and frankly it's bullshit saying people that don't rate him read the media too much, he's a 90 million pound player and he has failed to live up to that price tag by any measure. He is not close to what Eriksen has done for Spurs.

I would have thought it would be Barca tbh, both in terms of playing style and in terms of attitude it seems to be a much better fit of a club. I think he'd be wasted at the Bernabeu.

Pogba on the other hand would probably benefit greatly from playing under Zidane, someone who can command his respect from the off and keep him on his toes is exactly what he needs in a manager.

But Fergie didn’t “let him leave on a free”. He was desperate to keep him at United and was distraught that his agent brokered the Juve switch - it’s well publicised as he mentioned it in his autobiography.

he also brought scholes out of retirement rather than play him.

And your point is? I was disputing the fact he was happy to let him leave on a free as it simply wasn’t the case. He was very upset about it.

It's likely BS, but with all the rumors about Real Madrid looking at a 400m spend this summer, they'd reportedly need to sell 300m worth of players to be within FFP.

If that's the case, I'm wondering if we could pull off an Eriksen and Isco swap of sorts. If Lo Celso is not the Eriksen replacement, and IF we still sign him, perhaps Isco could be the makeweight we'd need to see Eriksen go to Real Madrid.

Because, player swaps, y'all!
