I'll be very surprised if Real buy Eriksen.
God help him if they do as Real fans won't tolerate the performances he's put in this season.
I kind of agree. If he drifts in and out of games like he's done this season, the crowd will eat him for breakfast.

Can't see how we hold more cards? With only 1 year on Eriksen's contract they will be getting a relative bargain.

I mean we are a bigger club in terms of value, finance and status (compared too previous time dealing with Real ) and less desperate team now, then they have set the precedent with the Hazard deal in terms if value and him only having a Yr left too

This .... although if CE wants too pull his finger out he really can do a proper job, but he cant or doesnt do consistently and for us over the last 2 yrs for sure its been dropping off

My problem with Eriksen is this. If the quotes that he believes that he has to go somewhere else to win something is correct, then that is a bit rich in my opinion. There is no bigger club trophy than the Champions League where we as a club played in its final on Saturday. Our Defense and defensive midfield all played very well, and was only let down by our front four which included Eriksen. If Eriksen had played to his capabilities and taken the game by the scruff of the neck, like he had done in past big games in previous seasons, and we still lost then I could say at least he tried so he has a point. My point is he had his chance to win a trophy with us and didnt show up. So to come out and make a statement borders on delusion and arrogance in my book. Does he honestly think he can play like that at Real or Barca and get away with it? For those of you who continually defend him and think he has had a good season, then continue to stick your collective heads in the sand. I am not questioning his talent or ability which we know is among the best, I am questioning his effort for us this season wearing a Spurs shirt.

I think if he signed for Real Madrid, we’d likely see some pretty ridiculous performances.

I think it’s quite easy to see players that aren’t playing to their fullest potential.

We know what he’s capable of. He hasn’t hit those levels this season.

It’s not like he’s become shite overnight. I’m sure if he wanted to hit those levels of awesomeness, he could do. Being jaded and demotivated will make you probably what, 50%? the person you can be?

We all know what that feels like. I can’t imagine being a Premier League footballer is any different.

Plus, he’s clearly a decently educated person. He’ll be well aware of the scrutiny he’ll be under should he move to Madrid, so I’m sure he’ll up his game accordingly.

Let’s not pretend that footballers give 100% in every single match.

He hasn’t said he wants to leave to win trophies though?

He wants a change....that could be anything; experience footballl in Spain, experience another culture...or just experience more money....

Anyway I do think he’s jumped the gun...I’m not sure Madrid will go for him if they’ve secured Hazard?? And I’ve not seen links to Barca...could be that Christian trying to instigate a move rather than the other wAy round

I know that footballers don't give 100% all the time. But if after resting for three weeks and then to play probably one of the football games in his professional life he cannot be bothered, then why is he playing for us?
He hasn’t said he wants to leave to win trophies though?
I did read this, but in my defence I did put a disclaimer by saying "If...……...to go somewhere else to win something is correct..."

At no point has Eriksen said he wants to leave to win trophies and no report has said that either, so your whole post is based on a premise that has never existed.

I also love when people compare him to Hazard and say something like: Hazard never takes games off let alone a whole season, he's so consistent.

Completely forgetting 2015/16 where Hazard took the entire season off and scored 6 goals in 43 games because he wanted Mourinho fired.

It's important to remember that he hasn't made this decision this year he has probably thought about it for a couple of years and don't forget that we didn't improve the squad last summer nor last winter which is a pretty big signal to a player contemplating his future that his ambitions may be better served elsewhere, he wouldn't have banked on getting to the CL final either none of us did so why would he, It is entirely possible that the prospect of remaining is more attractive to him now should his move not happen but if Real Madrid come in for him he'll still go but his decision will not be based on our current standing.

There are multiple reports that it is Perez (RM President) that wants CE but Zidane doesn't. If I were Eriksen, I would be thinking very carefully about how that could play out, particularly after how Zidane treated Bale. Maybe he will go, but I wouldn't say it is a certainty

as a club we’ve taken huge steps the last few years. we’re among the best i europe and have the ‘infrastructure’ to grow further. the future looks very bright.

however, imo it’s naive to think we’re as attractive as the historical giants of european football. we’re not established at the very top yet. the best players, with egos and ambitions, will always be drawn towards these clubs if there’s a possibility to go there. even after their worst season in years i’m pretty sure Utd and Real will attract top quality players this summer.

eriksen will think playing for real is a step up and a possibility to win things and progress further as a player. you can’t really blame him for that

It might not just be about Real now though. One very telling line in that interview was where he said “if I leave, hopefully it is a step up”. Kind of suggests the whole situation is a bit more than just Real or stay.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but thie big difference is the resources of the clubs. We relied on him because we have a lack of options, so if he doesn't perform then we are fucked. If he played like that for Real or Barca, they would sub him off, still win the trophy, and he gets his medal. Maybe he just can't hack teh pressure of being relied on?
