Messi doesn't tackle.

Hazard doesn't tackle.

Ozil doesn't tackle.

Ousmane Dembele doesn't tackle; neither does Isco; Asensio not really; Bale; Ronaldo; Lo Celso... (etc etc etc)

Eriksen is, and always has been, a vital part of our forward press EVEN THOUGH he doesn't go hard in the tackle. BECAUSE HIS WORK RATE MATTERS!

This "take" that Eriksen needs to be defined by Kante like tackling is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen and could only be made by jilted lovers so enraged they make themselves look like fucking idiots.

Just stop now. Please. It's embarrassing.

He's been a great servant for our club and has helped us to heights undreamed of before. He will be a great loss BUT we will both go on.

Just celebrate that ffs

I didn't say he hasn't been a great servant to the club. I said the opposite.

I didn't say he wouldn't be a loss to the club.

I didn't say anyone with a differing opinion is stupid, or looks like a fucking idiot.

I didn't tell anyone with a differing opinion to just stop now, because it's embarrassing.

So, with the greatest of respect. Fuck you & your totally unnecessary aggressive response.

If you have a gripe with Eriksen that he doesn't get stuck in enough you're a moron.

This shit needs to stop on this site.

People being abused, called morons, clueless or thick ****s just because they have a different opinion.

People are individuals, they each have their own thought processes & translations of things. If it's different to somebody else's, it's because it's different, not because they're a fucking moron.

It's becoming more and more visible on here and it's a bloody shame.

I totally agree with the sentiment in your post - he goes with my best wishes, he's been great

Just picking up on the point of tackling though - in reality, Eriksen has been playing in a three man central midfield (rightly or wrongly) for most of the season. You'd expect him to be tackling a lot more than any of the names you mentioned.

Doesn't change your conclusion on appreciating a fantastic player mind you

I've not seen anybody complaining he doesn't get stuck in. The (fair) complaint is that he actively jumps out of the way of anything remotely resembling a 50-50. Even in the most important game of his career he was diving out of the way of any tackle coming his way.

I love him and would love him to stay, but I don't see how it's beyond the realms of comprehension that people think he's a bit of a pussy.

I think comparisons with Hazard in terms of price are interesting. Hazard was the player of the tournament in the World Cup and has won countless big games for Chelsea seemingly on his own. I think Eriksen is a good player but I've been lucky enough to see real world class players at Spurs ie Hoddle, Gascoigne and Bale, Eriksen doesn't come near them. Hazard does.

In terms of what clubs are prepared to pay for him we'll all find out soon enough, until then its just opinions of his value.

Yeah the "he covers the most distance" argument is rather tiresome to be honest.

The guy is a cracking player, that can not be denied. Anyone who does deny it is just a dick.

But he needs to have the added bonus of things like tackling & tenacity to make all that running worthwhile.

Mo Farah could sign for us & cover the most distance.

Isn't Mo a gooner? We don't want him at Spurs.;)

I think people under-rate us and Eriksen a bit in here. The Hazard fee should absolutely be the bench mark. Along with Hazard, Eriksen has been one of the most prolific goalscorers and assist makers from AM in the hardest league in Europe. He also had a good showing at the world cup in a much weaker team.

Levy will push for parity but realistically I can see him dropping to around 65. He'll also have in the back of his mind that he could still get the player to stay. The quotes are hardly fully committed on leaving when you see the proper translations.

The is issue is he will be a lot cheaper than Pogba regardless and Madrid must be running out of budget soon!

Apparently Eriksen only touched the ball twice in the final 12 minutes - both from set-pieces and when we had 65% possession and when we needed him most.

He went with a whimper. Shame he couldn't end on a high note.

You only need to look at match day threads - sometimes you will literally get something along the lines of: "Eriksen is having a great game today" followed by someone else saying: "Eriksen is pants today - sub him off Poch" so it really is a game of opinions.

Ozil doesn't tackle = true and I rate Eriksen ahead of Ozil
Messi doesn't tackle = maybe, but he's not afraid of the physical risks when driving past opponents with the ball and I'd do a swap for CE any day

I for one am not saying Eriksen is rubbish, he has great talent, but in this day and age you need the courage to face the physical challenges of the game that will then allow you to use that talent better. In other words he needs to be brave when it comes to the physical side of football, that is different from saying he needs to tackle like Kante.
Give Eriksen time and space and he can hurt any team. Impose yourself on him physically and he tends to hide. That has been my observation of him over the years.

I've started to think that if we buy Lo Celso and Ndombele he will get his second life here. First, he will have better midfielders around him, second, our game won't be so dependent on him, third, he will feel that he is not so important any more and that he can be dropped. So we should buy those two and keep him. Which is probably impossible :D

Opinions will always be different. It still doesn't make someone a moron or a thick **** if theirs is opposite to someone else's.

The Guardian reporting that Chelsea and Real have agreed a fee of £88.5 million for Hazard. That’s just shy of 200 million already this window that they’ve spent. I’d be surprised if they came in for Eriksen given Levy will demand a hefty fee. And I’d be surprised if Utd demanded anything less than 85 million for Pogba.

Can’t see them buying both Eriksen and Pogba, nor can I see them holding on to Bale with these kind of financials. How much a week will Hazard be on now? How much will Pogba demand?

Tune into next week's batman to find out!
