Does seem to be noise coming out of Spain that Zidane doesn't want Eriksen. I imagine in which case Levy will push hard for a new deal, maybe with a £100m+ clause for Real/Barca if that's what it takes to seal a deal.

I'd be delighted to keep him, especially if we could still add Ndombele. Lo Celso might get tricky if he does stay though.

I saw this the other day, but I think it got lost in CL final chat. There was quite a big exclusive in Marca, which usually gets it spot on (or at least plays Madrids games). I did wonder if they were just calming things down before the final to sweeten us up.

I just think that Madrid wrongly thought Eriksen would be an easy deal, with the contract and his desire to leave. To me, it feels like they may have seen him as an opportunistic signing based on this, with Pogba being their 'dream target'.

I think they thought they'd get Eriksen and Hazard much cheaper than is being offered. Hazard is probably top target and an easy deal and that's still dragging.

They probably also need to bolster other areas more. They have Kroos, Modric, Isco who can play in Eriksen's role, plus Ceballos and James. They no doubt thought they'd get decent money for Bale but his insane wages have killed that.

Zidane probably wants players in early too so they can't leverage the contract situation as much as they'd like.

Will be interesting to see how it develops.

I think AliZ mentioned in his ITK post that we have every chance of negotiating a new deal should his move to Madrid fall through. Either way, a resolution to his contract situation should be a priority and if he really wants to go, I think Levy should cave in before we lose any value from a possible deal.
Madrid and Eriksen hold all the cards in this, they could stick a bid of 40m with 3 days left of 5he window. Then what? We are getting shafted either way. He could of signed a deal with a clause that if real or Barca bid over a certain figure he could leave, he hasn’t. Apparently sold his house, just hope we sign the right players now and not wait for them to shaft us.

Jovic - €60mil
Militao- €50mil
Rodrygo- €45mil

They have already spent €155 million euros plus likely another 100 million on Hazard, want Pogba as well. Are Real likely to spend the money on Eriksen?

On the face of it it looks like FFP might have something to say about it? Who are they trying to get out the door the other way, Bale aside?

I think it's a Pogba or Eriksen debate, not both. Still they have to have some sales lined up more than a few quid for Ceballos. Bale clears a lot off their wage bill but I don't see anyone paying them a big transfer fee for him.

Bale - Should make a decent saving on his wages but won't get a decent fee for him.
James - Similar to Bale, probably end up with a loan to cover his wages at best.
Navas - One year left, might get a little bit for him.
Isco - If Zidane doesn't want him, this is probably their only hope of getting £50m+ for a player.

Kovacic and Ceballos are probably the main other sources of income, but I doubt either will make a massive dent in that.

Maybe we should just swap Eriksen for Isco and Bale (2 year loan) then?

Didn’t somebody say one of his mates was friendly with Eriksen so would check out truth on house sale. Did he ever confirm?

Plus they are expected to sign Mendy from Lyon for 50 mil as well, that is a lot of expenditure

Yeah pretty mad really. Looking at around £300m before even getting Eriksen or Pogba. You would think it'd be either or out of those two for sure.

Any interest in Ndombele or Lo Celso from them is probably 4th-5th backup option at best.

Let's not kid ourselves, they find the money whenever they want to spend it. If they want Eriksen, they'll get him.

I do think it's a case of either/or with Pogba (Zidane) and Eriksen (Perez) too be honest, even seems to be implied by the rags in Spain.

I do agree that'll they'll do what they can to buy what they need, even though they should be in a real mess. They let their wage bill spiral out of control and their squad age terribly. The price of those 3 consecutive CLs.

They'll be lucky to clear 30% of Bale's wages off their balance sheet which will most likely restrict who they can bring in and on what wages.

I think Real are in the midst of clearing the decks. They’ve had a hugely disappointing season and need to make a bigger impact on the gap between them and Barca.

FFP is something that RM treat with contempt, they make up the rules as they go along because they think they have a divine right to make up the rules, and I think that they are arrogant enough to believe that UEFA are way too scared to dish out a substantial penalty on them that prevents them entering the transfer market for a defined period.
