While Eriksen was key to how we play, yes, we needed a suitable alternative. If he leaves, given that his type of player is at a premium, i think it’s more likely that Pochettino will have to devise a system in which Eriksen is not key.

I think you're right. As he will have left ?

If we lose Eriksen, I actually think a more direct, Redknapp-esque approach is the way forward. The most exciting football we’ve played in the modern era was 11/12, Adebayor leading the line, Van der Vaart gloating begind, Lennon and Bale flanking, Modric and Parker at the base. If we could sign a direct, skillful, powerful wide player to replace Eriksen, a leader to partner Winks in midfield, we could have the makings of something beautiful.
I've long thought this was possible A different kind of winger to them perhaps, still getting width from full backs. Having seen how Liverpool replaced Coutinho, a Lozano for example, may be the way to go.

Interesting to note, we attempted to play a similar shape in the summer, but with Eriksen/Alli and the lack of centre mids/wingers, this appeared to get modified slightly. Possible we return to it.

Just need to sign a CM as good as Modric and we're all set
Or keep developing Winks, who maybe won’t hit Modric heights but is well on course to being one of the top players of his type around (streets ahead of £60m Jorginho based on this season), and as I said, bring in a real midfield general, a winner, to play with him, like we did with Scott Parker.

But yes, keep being facetious a condescending for the purpose of convincing yourself that the apocalypse is nigh.

My point is that a CM (Modric) was the most integral player to the way we used to play under Harry, so we shouldn't expect to be able to completely change our style of play by signing "a direct, skillful, powerful wide player". We'd actually be better off sticking with Son and Moura and investing the money on a new CM.
IF Eriksen leaves (I'm not convinced he will), I personally hope that we continue with Poch's philosophy, rather than shifting to a direct style of play that doesn't work against teams that park the bus. Note that we have managed to sit back and hit teams on the break, against some of the top clubs (Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City etc.), under Poch.
Hopefully we will replace Wanyama with a "real midfield general", if he's not showing signs of being back to full fitness by July.

Maybe we can keep Christian after all... This guy is tier 1 for Real Madrid (Jose Luiz Sanchez).

Still don't know why Real aren't going after a striker.

Gerard Romero (Barcelona Tier 1) saying Luka Jovic & Miralem Pjanic's agent was in Madrid but Barcelona knew it was for Pjanic rather than Jovic. So maybe the fees have actually scared them off Eriksen? I saw a report today that we were asking 130 mil.

I've said for weeks now that Eriksen wants Madrid but they don't want him hence his drop in form. Every day they are linked with players, the latest is Pogba. If he stays there's a big rebuild job ahead from both the staff and the player, he's got to get his head right.

Eriksen for me isn’t good enough or consistent enough for Madrid or Barca. I think he’s a very good player but was very disappointed in how poor he was in Kane and deles absent. Big players step up and he didn’t.

For us I think cog in the machine and would be happy if he stayed but wouldn’t be too disappointed if he went.

I kind of agree with your first sentence, certainly the consistency bit. I definitely think Barca is a much better fit for him. I think at Madrid his dips in form and lack of aggression and passiveness might see him struggle a bit. VDV virtually said as much in an interview the other day.

Don’t agree with the other bit of your post. As I’ve said many times, if we had another creative playmaker really pushing him already and ready to step in it might be different. Fact is we don’t and Eriksen leaving will leave a huge hole in the team that we will not fill going by the way we do transfer business.

I think they are going to want to go for bigger targets, we will want too much for him and they’d rather put the money towards them

Yeah wouldn’t surprise me at all if Madrid cool any interest they had. Issue is, has it now got to the stage where he just wants to leave regardless? Because there were rumours about Juve a while ago, and I’m sure there will be a lot of other big clubs interested.

i don't think Eriksen is a Zidane type player. He's far more likely to go for a more physically competitive player like Pogba, especially if Kroos leaves. They don't have that dynamism in midfield and thats what he wants

Number tens have never been renowned for consistency though.

If/when he goes, trying to directly replace him would be folly imo. Better to change the way we play to suit both the squad we have left and signings we could realistically make.

Only way we can try to replace is sign another son type player for the right in a 4-3-3

Another terrible game. Same shit, cant pass or find a man, over hitting passes and chips, dwelling on the ball too long.

whatever the reason he’s been stinking for months now. Sick of his shit form.
