Assists aren't a great indicator of influence on matches, chances created are far better.

I just don't understand the fascination with stats. People disagreed with me earlier, but Bale was way more of an influence on games than Eriksen as was Modric regarless of chances created and assist stats, i could see their influence by watching the games, i can safely say Eriksen won't ever be as good as either of them that's not based on stats that's based on most peoples opinions if you asked them to rate the 3 players in order. We haven't regressed since losing them, we have only pushed on.

Have we won things with Eriksen in this team? No and who's to say as a team we wouldn't be better without him and bringing someone else in? Who knows, recent history seems to say we do just fine when losing quality players.

Obviously, i'd prefer him to stay and hope he would find more consistency. I don't enjoy losing quality players, but if he goes it's really not as bad as people are making out. Poch is the most important part of our team by far.

How much longer might we expect a player to stay at a club for than 6 seasons? That's more than half an elite career. I've never stayed in a job that long, and I don't see why a footballer should be any different in wanting a change. Not necessarily a change to chase something better, but just wanting a change.

We've gotten amazing value out of Eriksen. He cost nothing, relatively speaking. His application, attitude and professionalism have generally been exceptional. At 27, he only has time for one more big move in his prime, and if I were advising him, I'd tell him that another experience elsewhere might enrich his career and he should go for it.

From our end, we have to move on from him at some point, so why not now rather than next season or the season after? There'll never be a good time. I'll be sorry to see him go, but I'm at peace with getting a big fee in for him, wishing him luck, and moving on.

But people threw a hissyfit when we didn't just pay the £50m-£60m for Kovacic in the summer. The same with Malcom etc. Over £100m worth of players there people demanded who haven't exactly set the world alight

That's cos they are not in our team!

If he goes this summer, how much do we realistically think we can get for him? I've seen our reported asking price of 200m in the papers. 80m?

Price will depend on who is interested and how interested they are.

If several wealthy clubs really want him then we hold some cards and could likely get £60m+ for him.

But if only one club are interested and don’t see him as a priority signing and are potentially will to wait for him to be free we are in trouble.

Depends it there's any competition. If it's only Madrid in for him I don't see much more than 50, given they know if he's committed to them he can wait 12 months and move for nothing. If Barca are in for him as well then more.

Hi its the "I don't rate Eriksen as highly as most " bloke and I would just like to add to the fun I did not rate Ginola very highly either.
You have to wait in line before you tell me I am an idiot who knows nothing about football.
I am loving the banter .

We all have players we rate more than others.

Some like players with extreme skill and ingenuity, Ginola certainly had that.

Others like players with fantastic work rates, consistency and team players.

I feel Eriksen gets slightly hard done by as he gets a lot of assists but through good vision and technique rather than doing it with a wow factor.

Each to their own but you don’t need to post with such a defensive manner. Just debate with people who debate in the manner you enjoy and ignore the others.

Reported that Juve are in for him too. Still can't see us getting more than 75/80m for him.

Didn’t pull up any trees at Real and looks bang average at the Chavs. Cant get into the international team. What does he do?
You know that Sarri hasnt given him a run of games at all, right? He starts mostly every other game then is subbed off for Barkley(or RLC lately) at 55-60. Then Barkley starts the others then is subbed off around the same time for Kovacic(or RLC lately). Never going to really look good with that kind of rotation.

Sarri has horribly mismanaged the midfield in his effort to shoehorn the best DM in football into a more forward player to have Jorginho deep. He keeps swapping the 3rd CM to try different thinks to help Kante in the more forward role.

But this doesnt have anything to do with Eriksen unless we’re looking at an Eriksen for Kovacic and money swap deal.

We may have continued to compete for a top 4 spot, despite them leaving, but perhaps we would have done better (and added to the trophy cabinet) had they stayed. Being "fine" and making the next big step to winning a major trophy are two very different things.

Europe's elite clubs don't haul in trophies by selling a star player and replacing them with several inferior players. Look at how selling Ronaldo without splashing out on a replacement is panning out for Real Madrid. 3rd in La Liga and last 16 of the Champions League is "fine", but they're trailing Barcelona by 12 points and never looked like challenging to retain the CL title. You could cite the absence of Zidane, but to me it's clear that they are missing the 44 goals Ronaldo scored last season (and that was a mediocre tally for him). They've scored 1.75 goals per game in La Liga this season, compared to 2.5 per game last season, following the sale of their top scorer...pretty clear correlation.

Eriksen is our most creative player. If anyone wants to dispute his contribution to the team, his creativity has been backed up by his 'chances created' and 'assist' stats every season since he arrived. Although we have other good players in the squad, I can't see any of them stepping up to fill the void. I also can't see anyone of the same level being available for less than £100m, so we can probably all agree that we wouldn't even consider signing a like-for-like replacement.

We've improved considerably since they've left. I don't ever recall us amassing over 80 points in a season even when we had Bale and Modric in the side.

We have improved since. We also got worse position wise for a 3 year period in between, managed by AVB and then Sherwood. Not a massive fall and I am aware there are other changes (Man city emergence), but after they departed in 2012 and 2013, we failed to secure top 4 for three seasons, having achieved this 2 of last 3 years.

I don't think anyone is saying we will be shit forever if Eriksen leaves. Well, I hope not as massive overreaction. But, the bounce back after losing a key players usually takes a couple of seasons.

Luckily we are no where near as reliant on one player as we have been in the past. We have a lot of quality, particularly in attacking areas now.
