I've noticed some people saying if Eriksen goes to RM we should ask for Kovacic. Can I just ask what people see in this guy? Has looked bang average at Chelsea, was pretty much on the bench for Croatia in the World Cup if i remember correctly and can't make it in the first 11 at RM. I remember in the summer transfer window, there was a thread and people were creaming themselves over him. Why? I must be missing something.

He wouldnt replace Eriksen, certainly not like for like hes a deep lying midfielder whos main attribute is his dribbling ability, if he joined then he would replace Dembele. Not sure why Chelsea got him with how they set up he doesnt suit their midfield whatsoever.

I've said on here before and I stand by my stance that you don't replace Eriksen like for like. The market for quality 8/10 hybrids is comparitively small to the market for quality wide attackers and progressive midfielders. Buy more of those and reshape the attack around Kane/Dele/Son being quality 9/10 hyrbrids and strengthen the squad around them.

Kovacic in the Dembele spot and someone like Lozano or Chiesa off the right wing and we can make that work. But we absolutely have to improve fullbacks as well.

Literally said the same thing in the last hour on the wishlist thread haha. My main choice for replacing Eriksen would be Havertz and switch to a 4-3-3 whilst still having the personnel for the 4-2-3-1 because he can play 6/8/10 but mostly 8/10 and get another wide player as you mentioned. We don't replace Eriksen because in my opinion there's only a handful like him and the only person remotely similar to him in the prem is KDB.

Agreed, I mean we're talking about the same midfield and system that has freaking Ngolo Kante in the wrong spot. That midfield is a mess. Kovacic in a 4-2-3-1 would give us the dribbling ability of Dembele with much more ability in the final third. He's no slack defensively either. Chelsea are trying to make him be the creative outlet in that midfield and he's better as the guy coming from deep to connect defense and attack, which is where they have Jorginho line up.

See I can use stats to back my argument up too, now do it for every season they've been at the club. Now look at the assist history for Trippier, Kane, Dele and Son. Now try and grasp that some players sacrifice being the creative outlet in our current play-style because they are excellent at finishing chances, doesn't diminish their ability as creative outlets. I see once again you're turning to insults because you're failing at yet another conversation where you put your obsession into the middle of a debate.

Yeah I mean, they're players who I would prefer over Kovacic but I still think he's a fantastic player and I wouldn't dismiss him on this Chelsea season. I think his best years were at Inter though.

That certainly fair. But I could also feel free to get a little crazy and take Bale & Kovacic back for Eriksen...

Eriksen is a fantastic footballer. Good luck to him in Spain, he's given us great service and we'll get a huge amount of money for him

Lets just hope he can give his all for the last 10 or so games this season and we can give him a great send off at home to Everton

Yeah don't see how anybody can dislike Eriksen for this, was incredible we got him in the first place such was his standing as a future star. He gave us 6 years and he's in his prime and he deserves his move to the very top. Wish him all the best but want him to step up his form for the remainder of the season.

Good effort on using statistics, try factoring in how often they've played too before you jump to the wrong conclusion.

Let's sell our two most creative players and our two best right footed deliveries from set pieces. Makes perfect sense. (y)

Why are people losing their shit over what JJ said? He also inferred, in response to somebody asking what happens if Madrid weren't interested, Eriksen would stay if no offer was made.

Nothing JJ has said is new. He told us this ages ago lol.

There was a rumour a while back that James Rodriguez would be offered as part of a deal. That would obviously depend on whether he wanted to come here, but if he did I'd be fairly happy with that. There are obviuosly other players like Bale, Isco, Kovacic that we might be interested in. I think Real know that Levy will be extra tough to deal with if they want to push this through and a player exchange might work for both sides.

Probably not. Jorge Mendes is his agent, Levy won't deal with him. Can see Kovacic being part of a swap deal instead.

No malice towards the guy whatsoever, he's served us well & been a very good player.

That said, if he doesn't want to be here, I don't want him here.
