Surely Jack Grealish, would be Erisken's replacement?
He will never be a 40mil player. We'd be best off developing Shashoua if we want a player like that. Grealish is a good dribbler but he's not exactly standing out in the championship is he?

Doesn't matter though since we are getting Isco to do the dribbling and standing out. Grealish had his chance, it's Isco's time to replace Eriksen.

What do you guys think about Havertz of Leverkusen? Should we take a look before big boys like Bayern, PSG, City, Juventus, etc. prepare to make a big offer for him?

The big boys are well aware of him I guess... to late for an under the radar lowball offer

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool and Man Utd are interested in £45m-rated Christian Eriksen.

Yes, that’s right. £45m-rated.

If anyone ever tells me that your typical sports journalist has something useful to add to society, I’ll show them this piece of vomit and then decapitate them with a pencil sharpener and a totally clear conscience.

With only one year left on his contract this summer then I would suggest that is probably a generous figure.

Generous?

This is 2019.

One and a half seasons of one of the best, most effective, game-changing attacking midfielders on the planet, proven at every level, under contract to a club that doesn’t want to sell and can’t just snap their fingers and hoover up an equivalent replacement - a player who is central to Tottenham’s style of play - a player whose true value can only be determined by mutual agreement between buyer (rich clubs who have a record of breaking transfer records, even for unproven players, and who are direct competitors) and seller (Levy) - in a market where moderate-at-best middle-of-the road players like Callum Wilson are rated at £50m and you call £45m generous? Not just fair but generous?

Where’s my pencil sharpener?

I doubt Eriksen is looking to go anywhere else in England.

I think this is simply down to the fact he is 27 - and this will be the last long-term deal he signs. If his dream was to play for RM or Barça, then this is his last best opportunity to make that happen. I think that is what he is deciding now - I don't think this is really about money, so I can't see Eriksen headed to any other English squad.

I was referring to £45m being a generous price in the summer.

Last year, we all agreed we wouldn't sell Kane for £250m minimum, well Eriksen is as important/top draw in his position as Kane is in his. One of the richest clubs on the panet want to buy a player we don't want to sell, then it will have to blow the world record out of the water.

Anyway, personally, I think he'll sign a new contract.

That's taken from the same exact article that was discussed a few pages early. The only difference is this clown spins the takes to get positive hits from Spurs fans that believe everything they read on twitter. I think it could go either way but I don't think he "dismissed speculation" based on that article.

I'm not sure if it was posted here, but there an an article in the Mail I think, which said we are considering letting Eriksen go on a free in 2020 if he doesn't sign a new deal, rather than selling him in the summer. The reasoning is, he is basically irreplaceable, and to attempt to replace him would cost at least 50 million, plus wages and signing on fee's which would probably total another 10 million over 5 years. Set against that would be the low balling offer which Madrid will propose, seeing as Eriksen will have just 12 months left on his contract.

If the 20% sell on clause is true, that makes it even less appealing to sell him in the summer, as the money we will get will be negligible, say it costs us 70 million to replace Eriksen in total, we may only pocket around that from Madrid, so there is no incentive. When you consider the value to having Eriksen in the side for another 12 months, the fact that we signed him for such little money originally, and all the other variables, and the fact any new signing we make could equal chance be a flop or a success, it makes little sense to cash in (in the loosest possible term) in the summer.

I could very well see us letting him go on a free if he doesn't extend his contract. I would be interested to know the financial incentives if Levy did cash in on him, because form the outside looking in, I don't see any advantages whatsoever.

In essence, there are huge sporting advantages in letting Eriksen wind down his contract, and there are zero financial incentives to selling him in the summer. The only possible reason to sell would be if we had indentified a ready made younger replacement for Eriksen who would slot straight in and be brilliant, but I find that hugely unlikely, especially with our recent track record of failing to secure our primary targets.

What do the rest of you think?

After the 12 months and Eriksen is gone - we would still have to replace him. In other words - and using your numbers: we can break even, or lose 50 million.

Agreed. We should try to take advantage of Leverkusen's position though, before they become good again. Several interesting players there.

Maybe Eriksen wants to leave because Pochettino keeps throwing sticks and shouting ‘fetch’ at him, and forces him to shit outside.

Speaking about Leverkusen, Leon Bailey was pretty hot last season. I found that he hasn't played that much regularly this year. What happened to him?
