Even when we play 433 or 343 we don’t spend the whole game playing that way. It appears that Pochettino favours a 343 in attack and 4231 when we are defending. When playing that like that having a DM who can step back into a CB role and a wide player who can step back into midfield is vital. Eriksen gives us the second of those, I personally can’t see that changing. Eriksen’s best position is anyone who gets him into the match and that will vary based on opposition

I believe I read that a couple of the all time great Danish footballers played at Barca which might explain their obsession with Eriksen going there. I admittedly know nothing about Danish football greats so....

Then you MUST see this.

Good as Eriksen is, he's no M. Laudrup.

I wonder, if Eriksen will begin to have second thoughts about renewing with Spurs :nailbiting:

Highly doubt Eriksen leaves this summer. Maybe next summer depending on how things play out. I bet there is little more here than Madrid and Barca having a mini spat through their papers over a player they both might fancy in a year. Barca with him being "plan B" and this just says he's "on the list".

The first response says all that needs to be said...

Madrid wants to: -Eriksen: 100M -Kane: 150M -Neymar: 300M -Geia: 100M -Odriozola: 40M -Hazard: 130M -Lewandowski: 120M Total: "Only" 940 million. Small change.

Stupid fucking Marca

Lets hope he has a shite World Cup and Denmark get eliminated at group stages with no points or goals and maybe the focus will come off him. God knows what the speculation will be if he drags Denmark through to later stages

Apparently Madrid are now talking about CE. Havent read or seen the story myself…..

From the Bale thread...

Hoping this is just a reference to the Marca shortlist article (which doesn't mean too much IMHO), and nothing more.

I personally think the new deal for Eriksen is our most important piece of business this summer. He is integral to us.

With the Bale and Ronaldo situation I think RM have bigger fish to fry, naimly Neymar, but next summer I can see them going in hard for Eriksen as their long term Modric replacement. Unless we start winning things I wouldn’t be that suprised to see him leave.

I know it means nothing but am sure he is a Barca Fan and has always dreamed of playing there in his career at some point? But there is one reason they could be doing that and it's to unsettle us. Maybe we have contacted Bale and maybe changed his thoughts on staying so now they have retaliated but I see no reason why out of nowhere they would publish that.

Right lads, I am here now. Someone send word that I want a straightener with Florentino Perez if he even dares firing Levy's number in to his fax machine I will be on the next boat over the drink (can't afford the plane).

Let him know that I am double hard and I won the u14's knuckles in the borough of Barnet county championships.

Spurs star Christian Eriksen delivers strong response when asked about Real Madrid speculation
The Dane was asked about those latest links with La Liga

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen was asked about the latest round of speculation linking him with a switch to Spain and it did not go down well.

The 26-year-old Denmark international has come to the end of another impressive season under Mauricio Pochettino and once again has been linked with a move to La Liga.

Earlier in the week Eriksen was mooted with a move to Barcelona with a front page story in Dairio Del Mundial, saying the Catalan giants will go for him as a 'Plan B' if they fail to sign Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.

Then Marca splashed him across their front page on Wednesday morning, claiming he is the long-term target to replace former Spurs man Luka Modric at the Bernabeu.

However, the Dane is believed to be in the final stages of sealing a bumper new Tottenham deal which could be announced before the World Cup begins. Eriksen is enjoying working with Pochettino and the pair shared a meal in Copenhagen last week.

With that new deal set to be announced soon, Eriksen, who has previously spoken about Spanish interest, shot down the questions this time around.

"I do not want to talk about rumors and the future," he is quoted as saying in BT as Denmark prepare for the tournament in Russia.

When the follow up question came about that Marca front page, Eriksen just replied emphatically "No!"
