But again, Madrid could easily be saying, we’d like you to see your contract out and we’ll pick you up next Summer.
Rather than paying Spurs £40m we will put £20m in your account instead if you do this.

CE loses £6/7m this season, hugely compensated next summer.

Very very unlikely a new contract is signed with one year left imo.
Would you trust them to keep their word? I wouldn't.

The ITK said Eriksen was pissed off because RM made him think they were in for him and then blanked him. Under those circumstances, I wouldn't trust them an inch, and hanging around hoping they do the right thing is really a bit humiliating I'd have thought. It remains to be seen how it pans out but RM really do treat players like commodities rather than people.

Everyone was angling this transfer window apart from the early buys

Sid Lowe on football weekly is convinced that zidane only wants pogba.

Havre is convinced Zidane will not get Pogba - at least not this summer.

So what to do?

Hopefully no news is good news on this one.

One of the better Spurs podcasts said he's sold his house in London and the red tops have already reported (via a Danish newspaper) that his family have been seen house hunting in Madrid.

I'd be surprised if he's still here beyond this European TW (i.e. on 2 Sept) but if he stays, I'd be even more astonished if he signs a new deal at Spurs.

Didnt the same media outlets also say that Trippiers family were seen house hunting and school searching in Naples weeks before he moves to Madrid?

Aye sure Dybala was in London too. This whole "how family were seen house hunting" how the fuck to you see a family house hunting? Are they carrying spears and bows shooting arrows at houses with for sale signs outside? Its just more media BS around the TW.

No one looks remotely interested in signing him tbh.

Why would they he sign for a club now for £200-£250K max when is free in less than 12 months, Eriksen is doing the same as Toby IMO, will be on a massive £350K+ a week for the next 4 years.

I guess that is the old story from weeks back?

I haven't seen anything new in Danish media on Eriksen lately. Only that Independent article spreading. Small sign of positive news if you ask me - that Danish media haven't gotten any "local" information that contradicts Delaney/Independent.

Yes - it isn't new

I heard the "sold London house" rumour (I guess you'd call it) on the "The Spurs Show" podcast from last week.

Its best he leaves now as he’ll run down his contract otherwise, IMO.

Cannot see any reason from Eriksens pov as to why he would sign a contract with Spurs atm.
He is still getting paid good money.
Will get a massive contract come next year.
A complete choice of clubs/countries to go to.
Will not be dropped by us as he is too important.
CE holds all the cards.
Yes he made that comment re. signing if his dream move did not come off but why tie himself to Spurs?
Even next Summer he could demand a massive signing on fee from us and a wage comparable to Kane, or move.

He could have done that back when he came from Ajax but didn’t (was in he’s last year of the contract).

I have followed Eriksen Career from youth talent all the way both club and national team

It has never been about the money. This guy is as grounded, sensible and humble as you can get.

But no doubt that he has alway had a career plan. A plan that probably involved Barca or RM as the end goal. Spurs was a got move between Ajax and the Spanish giants.

The question is. Does he believe enough in our team to think he can achieve he’s ambitiouns here. Things have changed dramatically over the last five years. If not. No money in the world can keep him here or make him go elsewhere for that matter if it doesn’t fit with hes career goal.
That’s my opinion anyway

Because his preference is to move this summer, something he's made abundantly clear.

So why no bids?
Because if they wait they can get him on a free. He's a £100m+ player they can get for a signing on fee. It's not outside the realms of possibility that it's already been agreed. I think Madrid would love to take Eriksen on a free with the added bonus that it will piss Levy off at the same time.

And his contract situation is down to who? If Eriksen wants Real and Real only he is going to be dissappointed, Zidane wants Pogba and will get him, probably not now but definitely next summer, Barca want Neymar, Juve don't need him but would probaly pick him up on a free as this seems to be their MO right now.
