AS reporting the same according to various sources - Real going in big for Pogba, and Eriksen considering Spurs’ contract offer.

What seems weird to me is they report our offer as €24m over 4 years, or just over £100k a week. I doubt our offer would be that low considering what Kane and Alli are on.
Spain is also reporting that Real are considering NDombele as a Pogba alternative. It may all well be media games in an attempt to lower our evaluation of Eriksen (seeing as we have targeted NDombele).

If he stays he needs to up his shit next season! Been poor this year! No where near the player he is capable of being
Just like the majority of our front line. Son has had spells where he's been fantastic and Moura as well. But Kane and Alli similarly to Eriksen has had better seasons.

It's ironic that so many of our best player have had "poor" seasons yet we once again secured top four and on top of that reached the CL final. However it's tedious how some keep singling out Eriksen as some sort of culprit here.

Does anyone else think the Eriksen Madrid thing feels just like the time that Moussa Sissoko linked himself with Real Madrid when he was still at Newcastle?

I'm confused - is this Christian Eriksen the hard-working creative genius who is the absolute beating heart of our team from midfield to attack

Or is it the other Christian Eriksen the lazy, over-rated, head-turned **** who can't put a ball in past the first man and hasn't played well since 2017?

In truth, he can be both. Aside from the lazy comment and the “not played well since2017” bit. There’s plenty of valid criticisms about his form this year, but it’s also undeniable that he’s a key player for us. When he plays well, we play well, and when he doesn’t play well the team suffers.

Depends, if we try to get a player to do the same role, then yes we could be fucked. If we get players that allow us to change our style so that it is less reliant on a single creator, then maybe we will be able to re-build
I think we have a lot of players who lack footballing intelligence. Having someone on the same level as him such and n’Dombele and lo Celso who can spot a quick one two will show how good he is at taking games by the scruff of the neck. We have too many players in our front third who want to score and are always looking to make runs, barely any with the skill set of playing a pass and go game.

Don't disagree but the others aren't saying they want to move to Madrid

This is 100% spot on.

Part of the reason for that is because the players that usually play around him have missed many games through injury and some of those players had returned not fully fit.

If they are properly rested in the summer, and our CM/DM is upgraded, we will see the top quality Eriksen of old again (if he stays 🤞)

I'm not desputing reasons for it and I don't think there's just 1 reason I think it's a few things that have affected him, playing the way he has 2nd half of the season to turn around and say he wants to move got my back up. What has he done last 6months to deserve a move

I agree that his head might have been turned a bit with rumours of RM’s interest in him in the past few months. I think it would have had the same effect on most top players when a big name like RM shows interest. And I think that he should have acted professionally (like Hazard) but I still believe that we’d get back the old Eriksen if we got back the players around him and strengthen the DM/CM (Dembele was already injury prone before he left and Wanyama will unlikely to get back to his best again).

Eriksen has stated that he would be open to signing a new contract with us this summer if he doesn’t leave.
In the recent past, Poch & Vertonghen have publicly voiced that they’d like CE to sign an extension.
Latest reports from Spain (though not new), state that RM will go strongly for Pogba instead of CE.

I hope the above will start to sway him to sign a new contract with us and put all the suspense behind.

Trying to be as positive as I can on the CE issue.

I'm not exaggerating, I checked this morning and they spent literally half an hour spamming all my old posts and I'll be honest it was pretty satisfying to know that I pissed somebody off on the internet that much they took half hour of their time to do that.
He'll probably need to spend another half hour taking them off because he'll get a ban if A&C sees this.

F*ck me...we've sold Dembele. My point is his replacement would be Ndombele. That would be unaffected by this. As would other positions

Is this really such a hard concept? My point is:
- we are looking at Lo Celso because (a) he's an excellent player, but (b) because we think we're about to lose Eriksen.
- we are much less likely to spend c. £60m on Lo Celso if Eriksen (a different player, yes, but one who's been playing notionally in midfield for us, as we imagine Lo Celso would - and thus, in direct competition) were to stay

We are therefore less likely to pull the trigger on Lo Celso until there's a bit more certainty on Eriksen and that could take some time...if the rumours are true

Jesus christ
So why did we put a bid in? :cautious:

I think we’ve been pretty rash wanting to cash in on Eriksen considering everything. After doing a quick search on amount of appearances for Tottenham as per Transfermarkt, see below.

Eriksen has played 241 games in the last 5 seasons
Kane played 227 in last 5 seasons
Alli played 228 games last 5 seasons (First of which was for MK Dons).

When Kane has a bad period he’s either “knackered”, has been overplayed or it’s down to his injuries and rushing back - which I think is down to a combination of all.

Alli has played a hell of a lot of games for his age already.

Eriksen however, puts in a hell of a shift most games and consistently covers a lot of km each game. He’s also very rarely missed games due to injury since arriving.
Not to forget he also plays almost every game for Denmark and just after a World Cup (As did Kane and Alli).

I’m not defending Eriksen for maybe letting his mind wander and think about a move to Madrid but we have to consider everything that could be at play that may have affected his form come the end of this season.

What I’m trying to get at or elude to is that rather than just cutting our losses on Eriksen, I would be delighted for him to sign a new contract and we add the likes of NDombele/Lo Celso to compliment him.

We’ve been bleeding Kane, Alli and Eriksen dry and get so much out of them. They’re bound to be bloody knackered and it showed this season - thankfully we had Son & Moura to pitch in.

This summer we should be signing players to improve the squad and add to our already talented squad. I’m all for keeping Eriksen and maybe we can rotate him and keep him fresh for the big games.

I obviously have no idea what is in the contract (and it may be a moot point if nobody actually is in for him) but we should offer him 3 extra years (=4 in total) with a release clause of, say, £100m.

Vs losing him now for probably max 70 we have nothing to lose. He might be inclined to sign that knowing that he has a realistic get out next summer if things don't go as he'd like or if somebody like RM came in. If that is the case then we'll get 100m for a 28.5 yo and will hopefully have bedded in 1 or 2 more midfielders and Winks would be 1 year more experienced
