Countdown to JJetset coming in and telling us that Eriksen's already got his kid enrolled in the Madrid Danish school, has started taking paella making classes and has been asked to be best man at Sergio Ramos's wedding.

Who needs JJ tell us that now you've done so.

He’s a great player, who has no one in the squad to lighten the load for him.

Any criticism has to be made with that in mind in my opinion, I dearly hope he stays but if he doesn’t he has worked his nuts off for Spurs for 6 years. I love him for that.

Or push/challenge him for his place in the team. His 'cover' should be exactly that, same with every other player & position.

It's what big boys do.

Id like to see eriksen drop back to a defensive playmaker role in all honesty. He has not got the passing range of pirlo but with wanyama and dele around him he would do very well in a 433 in that role.

Are you mental? Dropping the guy with the most assists back deep?

No chance.

You want Eriksen, a CAM, to play at DM, and a DM to play at CM?

Is that you Sarri?

Towards the end of the end of the game yesterday Eriksen was still running hard, despite the heat, for my money harder than Son and Moura at that point. Doesn't effort matter? I'm sure much worse players became cult heroes purely for effort.

Eriksen is regularly in the top 3 for distance covered every game. How many creative AMs do that? Ozil certainly doesn't.

I'm guessing it's a case of holding him to higher standards due to his ability, sprinkled in with the transfer speculation and early coping. I agree he's had a difficult season but it's been a hugely disrupted one (tough to be the maestro when the orchestra keeps changing and the instruments are worn down).

He still leads the league in assists and that pass to Son on Saturday was world class, and I believe it was with his weaker left foot too. I'd be absolutely delighted if he stayed. Class player.

Yeah but sometimes his passes get intercepted by the other team, and his dead balls are poo, so clearly his heads in Spain innit.

I agree. Also, it's something that I for some reason overlooked and I know he can annoyingly half-heartedly tackle and seemingly pull out of tackles and such but he is virtually never injured. If that's a result of him doing those mentioned things and maybe having a more what could appear 'laid back' style of play I wouldn't want him to change one bit, there's no more value than just being able to put such a player out on the pitch for us week in week out.

He's one of if not our most important player in the side and you just know he's going to be available for selection every week.

Love the player. I think our issue is a lack of any other player with his skill set; this has led to an over-reliance on him and therefore, when he isn’t quite at-it, he shoulders more responsibility than others may. I believe he is a phenomenal talent along the lines of which we’d be extremely hard-pressed to discover elsewhere. Pay him a good wage and get him to stay I say - with added creativity around him, his game could go up another notch!

Like Walker he really isnt appreciated enough by our fanbase. People mistake him doing his defensive duties as him going missing or having a quiet game even though it's so important.

We'll miss him so much if he ever goes.

I actually think eriksens best trait on the pitch is with 'key passes'. Through balls and balls into channels ect. Eriksen currently plays as 1 of the 3 forwards typically. The problem with making the most of this as it stands is that when kane is fit he plays through the middle with son out wider. Eriksen is not going to find kane with through balls very often as kane lacks that pace. Son is further out wide so he will likely recieve the ball down the channel or most likely to feet.

If you were to drop eriksen deeper and play ball winners ahead of him to control the centre of the park he can then dictate play and hit the 3! forwards (because he will have been removed from the 3 and replaced with somebody who can make the MOST of what eriksen can do). You need a lot of pace either side of kane in the 3 and alli following in from the cm with wanyama or sissoko ball winning. Our rb and lb can move into attacking positions with confidence as they know eriksen can find them znd because we would be solid in the cm area to cover.
Its been a proven method of play for years at various clubs around the world.

Next season id like something similar to this. It would likely be a little too far fetched but the idea remains the same in terms of player types.

------------Toby------Jan-----------
Bissaka------Eriksen------Rose
--------Sissoko------Alli------------
--------Son----Kane----Sane-----

Of course sane is optimistic but i think attainable if we went big. Otherwise somebody similar like sancho otherwise a player like brooks would be brilliant.

Just look at the amount of goalscorers that eriksen could provide 'key passes' too, 4. That is his best trait imo and we should make the most of it. Somebody posted a video on here of him v city and that just shows what he does. Now just imagine that again but with 4 goalscoring players ahead of him.

I can't think of anything worse than Eriksen playing as a deep CM especially since he's an actual goal threat.

You can drop Eriksen deeper without him playing as a DM. He drops deeper anyway. You're finding a problem when there isn't any.
