This season: goal in each game against Inter, assist vs Dortmund, assist vs ManU, assist vs Liverpool, 2 assists vs Chelsea,

Last season: assist vs Dortmund, goal vs Real Madrid, goal vs Juventus, assist vs Chelsea, 2 goals vs Man City, goal vs ManU, goal vs Chelsea, assist vs ManU in the cup Semi.

No fucking idea where the idiotic narratives start.

It's absolutely mind boggling, you can even go further back in seasons as well even pre Poch.

People here denigrating Eriksen just to soften the blow of his departure, should it transpire, like "I never fancied her anyway, that was you". Somewhere there is a parallel SC where everyone is thoughtful and objective.

They did the same when Walker was linked to go.....

When Eriksen plays well we play well, when he plays poorly we play poorly. That alone should be enough evidence to his importance to us

He is not in the top twenty of players for minutes played
He is not in the top twenty of players for passes made
He is not in the top twenty of players for goals scored
he is in the top twenty of players for chances created he is in second place behind the one and only Ryan Fraser
This players ability is vastly overstated
And because I don't agree with you that he is the bees knees I suppose that makes me an idiot who knows nothing about football.
Well so be it but the odd occasional great goal or great pass could be attached to many players such as Andros Townsend it does not make him a great player.
The greats do it week in and week out they do not go missing for the biggest part of the season.
If I am the only one that does not get this love in for a player that does it now and then I concede I am an idiot.
You don't need to say yes I am an idiot as I have said that for you.

As for when Eriksen plays poorly we play poorly is evidence in itself that the man is overated as we have been poor in comparison to the last three years for a long time this season and why did not this great player turn up to make us play?

To be fair, you just used minutes played as a measure of success for a player that had an injury AND then compared the player to Andros Townsend, so maybe they have a point.

All the arguments against Eriksen have been brilliant thus far...

Real Madrid made their first offer of 82mil for Hazard, Chelsea want 115... Where does that leave our Christians possible fee?

I did not compare Eriksen to Townsend per say but as an example that there are a lot of players that score the odd great goal or also the odd great assist it is the fact that they do not do it consistently that defines the great players from the Townsends of this world and there are plenty of examples that do the odd great play but not often enough to make them a great player .
I hope I have explained myself clearer this time .I am also sure that many can name players that come up with great play but not consistent enough to be considered a great player.

The reason for minutes played is that it has not been time on injury list for long enough to impair the rest of the list.

Can't believe you think Real Madrid a big team! Next you be calling Juve a big team..... Oh wait you did.

Totally agree with the sentiment though :)

Eriksen doesn't disappear against big teams. He has a patch of 6-8 games where he disappears full stop. He does the running and still creates but it's the ticking the ball over and make the half-hearted challenge a lil more hearty that drops in commitment.

We will miss him, but if we can improve the full backs and get Alli playing the Eriksen role then maybe we could get around it, and get Isco then it could be a good move for both parties.

Nothing about this football club feels me with confidence when it comes to replacing outgoing players

Understating his important to our squad and the way we play is just another way to deal with the fact that he is probably leaving our club.

I will wish him all the best and hope he goes on to become a proper worldie just like Modric has. There’ll always be a special place in our hearts for the Great Dane.

I just hope he hits a patch of form for us in the last few weeks of the season. This is absolutely paramount to our top 4 ambitions as well as potentially progressing past City. Fit and firing Fab 4 and we may just pull off CL qualification.

I'm not convinced he is on his way out. If its Barca or Real then looking at the two of them i can't see a space for him in the teams.

Barca always play the 4-3-3 with one DM anchor in Busquets. They already have quite a few creative number 10 types in Coutinho, Rakitic, Arthur, Carles Alena, De Jong will be signing, and Suarez will be coming back from loan). 2 spots 6 players with no obvious sales.

Real on the other hand, under Zidane, also play a 4-3-3 with Casimiro or Valverde playing the anchor and either side they have Kroos, Modric Lucas Vasquez, Youth options playing back up in Brahim Diaz, Llorente, Ceballos, Kovacic will probably be sold but James Rodriguez is back from loan. They will probably keep Bale and even if he is sold still go for Hazard. 2 spots 7 players with one probably leaving.

I don't see him playing in the forward line for either club as he doesn't get the goals or have the dynamism that the options like Hazard, Mbappe or Neymar offer as potential options

To be honest, I think he's been let down a bit by the club. Poch went to see him in Copenhagen before the WC, obviously to try and convince him to sign a new contract, see below link.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/8175570/christian-eriksen-not-pressured-spurs-deal-poch/

Poch probably sold him the ENIC "dream" of challenging for titles etc but didn't mention this could only happen through long term sustainability or once the oil sheiks etc had stopped spending money . In other words, in another lifetime!!

He waited to see who we'd sign and his agent was probably sounding out Madrid at the same time. Many ITK thought he would sign but didn't. He's 27 years old and won nothing at our club when we've been close. Our owners would prefer to invest off the pitch rather than on it.

Unfortunately, his time with us has come and gone and can you honestly blame him? We all know his faults but I think some people are doing him a great disservice.

Also, do you really trust the club to adequately replace our most creative player? I for one think they will try and do this on the cheap with someone like Grealish who's not in the same class. This position requires great scouting and/or significant investment. Neither of which the club have been renowned for in recent time.
