We've lived on after King, Modric, Bale, VDV.

Eriksen isn't as good as any of those so i don't know why many people are concerned by this. Yes on his day he is great, his day is usually 1 in 5 unfortunately. He is a very good player, but he isn't Messi / Ronaldo level. We will live on and if the recent past is anything to go on, we will improve with it.

He's served us well and i'd prefer him to stay, but if not, it's not a big deal like some people think it is.

So many of these comments. Wow. I swear I was reading the same misinformed, deluded nonsense when Modric was on his way out. And he went on to be crowned the best player in the world.

If you don’t rate Eriksen. I really can’t have a conversation with you about football.

And Carrick before him.

EDIT: @Shadydan got there first, I see (y)

Lmao. Eriksen has a bad patch and people think we can easily replace him. Maybe Eriksen being in bad form directly correlates to our poor performances, which suggests he's pretty integral. Are people expecting us to replace him with someone who's never going to have a bad patch in their career? In fact, does anyone seriously think we'll adequately replace him at all?

Anyone who thinks Eriksen leaving isn't hugely damaging is in for a pretty big shock IMO.

Yep, all you need to do is watch the games he doesn't play to see how bad it can be..

To be fair, about half the time we don't need Eriksen not to be on the field to see what it is to not have him around.

I love Eriksen, without him we wouldn't have made it out of the group stages of the CL this season, but he can be so inconsistent that it definitely makes him a somewhat easy to replace player (and it's the same with Lamela, who is actually one of my favorite Spurs players of all times).

Our list of irreplaceable players is so short, only Kane, Jan, Toby and Lloris belong there IMO (and if Son and Sissoko prove they are not just some mid season wonders, they too will end up joining them soon enough).

For me the irreplaceable players are Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Dele, Son & Kane. Pretty telling that none of our full backs or central midfielders make that list.

Hugo has been great but over a long period but I wouldn't say he's irreplaceable any longer.

He is a top class player and he's on par with those players at least.

His day is far from 1 in 5 generally, he's going through a rough patch, but 1 in 5 is simply not true over the whole period.

He isn't that, no, no one apart from them is, still a huge miss though.

It is a big deal, a huge player departing. As was Walker, Bale, Modric, Van der Vaart, Carrick, Berbatov. In every case, numerous people tried to convince everyone it was fine. Walker was worse than trippier, VDV and Berba..lazy, Carrick and Modric...not enough goals, blah blah blah, absolute tosh.

But, there is one point where I will agree with you, we will move on and eventually (not immediately) we have progressed after the loss of those players. Liverpool with Coutinho is a good comparative of how I hope we manage (money may be an issue in this case due to Eriksen contract).

I see his teammates passing less to him, I see no production from him, I see him being in the center of the park & the defense ignoring him & playing passes over his head to people farther forward - where, yes, the ball is often lost to us, but apparently his teammates feel no other choice!
Are we talking about the player who single handedly had 9% possession vs Southampton? No, you are right. He sees lees of the ball.

Opinion of Eriksen as a player ("worse than VdV" :ROFLMAO:) aside, concerns regarding departures will have much to do with how we replace a player. The current recruitment setup has a lot of convincing to do before anyone should feel like we'll be able to take this in our stride.

I don't want him to leave and we would obviously be worse off if he did but there are also people being dramatic on the other side. The club isn't going to fall apart if he does decide to move on

We survived losing Bale when we were massively reliant on him and pretty much a 1 man team. We can do the same when Eriksen leaves but we need to do a lot better with incomings than we did with the Bale money (Eriksen aside). We still have a huge amount of quality in our squad.

No, the team will just be worse, and on top of the major surgery the team needs - new full backs, new central midfield, we will have to replace our most creative player.

He is a very talented player, no doubt about that, but I think there are some valid comments in this thread about his inconsistency. His habit of hiding in big games. As to losing him I think we’ll manage somehow.

He hasn’t been a Hazard or de Bruyne for us so I am kind of meh about him going. As a so called player who changes games he has flattered to deceive . I am disappointed too that this season has been disrupted by the rumours of him leaving. It’s obviously had a negative effect on the team and it’s unprofessional.

Pretty sure you'd fine he's made goal/assist contributions in plenty of big games.

This season: goal in each game against Inter, assist vs Dortmund, assist vs ManU, assist vs Liverpool, 2 assists vs Chelsea,

Last season: assist vs Dortmund, goal vs Real Madrid, goal vs Juventus, assist vs Chelsea, 2 goals vs Man City, goal vs ManU, goal vs Chelsea, assist vs ManU in the cup Semi.

No fucking idea where the idiotic narratives start.
