Player watch: Christian Eriksen

JJ saying: "He wants to leave so we have no choice."

Someone asked can we blame him?

"For fulfilling his lifelong football dream? No"

Totally agree. Eriksen had this La-Liga dream since he was a kid, so when he has the chance why not go for it. It's not like we suddenly will win the PL or CHL anytime soon.

Will be very sad to see him go, has served us well this far.

All the best - just hope we get a reasonable price, and I have no doubt that he will give his best for the rest of the season.

JJ also posting some positive stuff in the: The Spurs Transfer Wishlist & Scouting Thread for anyone interested.

I have loved watching Eriksen and will be very sad to see him go, ditto Toby, but it’s definitely time for a squad shake-up this summer and we can’t do that without some incoming money.

It’s just a shame we won’t get top whack for either, but we got them both for peanuts and got sterling service out of them so it’s only a bit bitter sweet.

As good as Eriksen can be, he is not consistently good enough for RM. He'll be a very rich man though. Good luck to him.

He’ll be there for 1 season max on current form. If he plays this poorly there, his problem won’t be the fans whinging on social media, it will be the ones breaking the wing mirrors off his Bentley.

I have to say I am very much less bothered about Eriksen leaving than I was. He's been really poor for months now bar the odd fancy goal or assist. I honestly cannot see him being a success at Madrid. If as a Spurs fan I sit there during games exasperated at how poor he is, god knows what Madrid fans will think. His lack of consistency will get shown up massively. He will just be a bit part player there

Get as much as we can and reinvest.

He also said after: "Ha turned down good money from us on contracts so has effectively lost money for the last 2 years"

Also, if he’s definitely off, he should be dropped. He’s been shite. Worth playing Lamela at number 10, might actually be a chance for him to actually play in his rightful position, and save his career here.

Eriksen is a very good player, and overall has served us well, no doubt.

Personally I don't think he's ever been consistent enough to be in that elite group of players but at his best he's a joy to watch, and certainly made us play at a much higher level as a team.

I've always felt there is more to come from him if he wanted to really hit those heights.

Good luck to him, but I think we need a fresh attacking impetus though.

Don't be silly.

And for those people who think he won't last at Real need a reality check, it's only this season his form has dropped and has shown inconsistency but I put that down to the fact his heads been turned and his shelf life at Spurs has come to an end, he's been with us for 6 years, he was bound to go stale - it happens.

We will miss him big time and it won't be long until people are clamouring for him and rue the fact that he's no longer in the team.

He is excellent, and I'll be gutted to see him go, but we only have to look at Liverpool to see how a club can improve the first xi by selling a not quite elite playmaker to Spain.

The only issue for us, and it's quite a big one, is that we could well be in the Europe League when we come to reinvest the money we get for Eriksen.

Ahhhhhh stop being boring and making sense.

Hating him is the only way I can cope with losing him.

But in all seriousness, if his head has been turned I still think he should be dropped. If he’s not playing for the shirt, and not playing well, give it to somebody who wants to be here next season.

Yeah, but Liverpool got £140m for Coutinho, who had only signed a new contract a few months earlier. And Liverpool spend huge money on wages, meaning they're able to attract a higher calibre of replacement than we will be able to do.

I don’t think this is as cut and dry as people think. Real Madrid and Barcelona give him very limited options. There’s a lot of good players out there I’m not sure on this season form eriksen would be top of my shopping list. It could very easily not happen with those 2 clubs if Levy digs his heels in a bit. This is nowhere near a Bale where he was clearly a unique world class option. I’d suggest Eriksen May be one of many options they have.

judging by the certainty from JJ, looks like they're very far down the road in my opinion. We don't have a choice, we can't risk not getting as much value as possible for him.

Also, at Real he’ll usually be one of many playmakers and teams won’t look to shut him down like they have been doing to him this year. It’s become pretty obvious to opposition managers that if they condense the middle of the park and deny him space, we don’t have the quality out wide to hurt teams this year.

There was a rumour a while back that James Rodriguez would be offered as part of a deal. That would obviously depend on whether he wanted to come here, but if he did I'd be fairly happy with that. There are obviuosly other players like Bale, Isco, Kovacic that we might be interested in. I think Real know that Levy will be extra tough to deal with if they want to push this through and a player exchange might work for both sides.

Levy is only good at negotiating when he has a strong hand to play with. Having just 12 months left on his contract then all the power is with Madrid and Eriksen.
