I don't think he is fully fit, it's the only thing that makes sense to me. However, he isn't helped by anyone else - we have zero creative players at the moment and so it stands out even more how off the pace he is.

Obviously he's very, very good but he really should have pushed on and established himself as a truly world class player by now. At this stage in their careers, Modric and Bale had really begun to take most games by the scruff of the neck and dominate on a consistant basis.

I think listening too much to his Agent & not Poch.

Mind you, someone should tell him that if he continues to play as is doing it will be Brighton or Huddersfield that will want him & not the likes of RM, Barca or PSG even.

I think we get the best out of him when he, Kane, Dele & Son are all available and playing together. The understanding and reading of movement between them is very good. When another player replaces any of them, that understanding is affected slightly.

Is he really good enough for Madrid ? When on form definitely but he goes missing for so many matches and the Madrid fans won’t put up with that.

No way. He is not the level of Modric and Bale and they have even had times when they struggled at RM. He would get eaten alive. He is way too often pulling out his Harry Potter cloak in games.

Never mind Madrid fans, why do we put up with it?

I agree. Teams just cope with trying to double team them... Or contain their movements

Today was his 250th start since August 2014 (I’m not sure if Denmark’s games has been counted) and in at least half of these games he’s probably been running the most. Since we have no back up for him he’s starting every game playing every minute even in many cup games & he played in the World Cup + he’s now a father as well. The guy is probably TIRED

And he’s been our only creator for years now, Son is more of a winger/second striker, Kane striker, Alli and Lamela are the only one I can think of who also creates a lot of chances but Lamela isn’t a starter and Alli plays much higher up

And because of our midfield situation he’s played deeper this season and still done a job. This season he’s played 36 games, 7 goals 12 Assist. 2 goals against Inter in 2 games, Assist vs Dortmund, Assist vs Man United away, Assist vs Liverpool at home, 2 Assist vs Chelsea at home, 1 Assist vs Arsenal away. And let’s not forgot what he’s done in the past, scoring so many late goals, so many assists, so many goals from outside the box

Yes he hasn’t been as good as previously this season but he’s still been good and yes currently he’s not playing that well but every player has bad forms. He’s good enough to start for every club in the world, yes every club in the world only De Bruyne and maybe James Rodriguez are on his level as a attacking midfielder

Is it because he might leave he gets so much criticism and abuse? Even if he does leave I will still love him and respect him, he’s been one of our best players in the PL era. The truth is he should move to Real or Barca because that’s his level, unfortunately we’re not there yet

I think the reason Eriksen doesn’t look as good or as consistent this season is we have lost Dembele. He would be the one who picked the back of the back 4 and drove forward and would find Eriksen in dangerous positions. Now we have Winks and Sissoko, who have both had decent seasons, but are no Dembele replacements.

For the first few seasons with us he was a notoriously slow starter and grew into the season and has often ended up being a direct link to our best periods of form usually between November to February and finishing strongly. Last season he hit the ground running and was fantastic. This season something is up. The Danish manager alluded to a serious injury he was carrying. I can only assume it’s that or his head has been turned because he knows he’ll be leaving in the summer. I think his talent is sublime and that’s the heartbreak for me as far as Eriksen is concerned.

I think he's missing Dele. He's struggling to find time and space, and he's one who needs it. Dele wanders, and makes runs in behind defenders, and creates space. Teams are suffocating him at the moment.
Still can't excuse his lack of effort in the challenge though, weak as piss really.

I was thinking about Dele today and how I actually think he is the most important player in our team. Be actually leads the press, he gets stuck in and he attacks the opponent's area with intent with and without the ball. But more importantly, he actually gives options to defence and attack to move the ball around, which actually benefits our CMs too.

If RM offered a straight swap, Bale for Eriksen right now, would you take it? Based on current performance, length of contract left etc?
(Yes, I know they are different positions)

Maybe. Bale was greedy but you could give him the ball and trust him. The only issue will be whether he has the RM ego or if he is still a team player. His recent antics in their last game for me is a bad example for our younger players and I can see a clash with Poch.

he can pretty much do whatever he wants. probably be a good keeper, too. but yeah, in practice he takes a lot of pressure off Kane and Sonny and gets them space.

Rewatching the game right now almost done with the first half. No idea where all this abuse is coming from today. He was pretty dangerous every time he got on the ball. Maybe things were different in the second half, I'll see.

edit: second half was non existent. He looks absolutely exhausted for what its worth. Probably time for a rest if we can give it to him first half vs Dortmund and see if we need him.
