I'm sure there was some ITK on Eriksen that he wanted RM or to stay at spurs and nothing else. So wouldn't be interested in Barcelona. And that he isn't motivated financially, which is why he ended up at spurs in the first place.

And if Madrid get Hazard it would be seem like they wouldn't want to pay what we wanted for Eriksen.

Would that be the ITK a couple of pages back that we’re all discussing?

If Spurs were to offer the going rate respective of certain players they probably wouldn't delay signing - but they don't and won't so who can blame them for leaving if a better offer comes along? Right now they're at the best club for their careers but they should be paid their worth.

I completely understand him wanting to go to Real. My wishful Spurs colored view would be I hope he would see the sort of careers #10's have had at Real recently... Ozil, Di Maria, James, Isco. All in and out of the team, under appreciated and eventually moved out. It ain't always greener on the other side. Although most have a CL winners medal so maybe all the scrutiny and starting spot insecurity is worth it for that reason.

From the man himself in Nov

Pushed by Danish publication BT for an update on deal discussions and whether he could be frozen out by Mauricio Pochettino, Eriksen said: “You must ask the coach about that. I do not know about that.
“I have my agent to take care of everything so I can focus on playing. We will see where it all ends.
“There have been talks with Tottenham many times. I cannot say if they are over. You must ask them.”

Sounds like he is frustrated to me with the talks with Spurs many times line

Once again no coincidence Eriksen on the top of his game and the team looks incredible. Fantastic performance today.

We really can't afford to lose him imo.

Pay the man whatever he wants if at all possible - no point moving into the stadium then taking 3 steps back.

Please read the ITK. Nothing to do with salary. If Madrid offer something we can accept he goes, otherwise he will sign new contract.

Can't we just offer him a new contract with a £150m buyout clause? Everyone will then have their cards on the table and we no longer face the possibility of him leaving on a free.

That would risk his move to Madrid so he wouldn't agree.

He has 18 months left on his contract. Levy will probably demand that from them.
Madrid are smarter than that though, they aren't ManU. They know to wait til the summer where there will only be a year left and the price would drop significantly.
