Player of the season should be all about consistency over the course of the season on that basis it has to be Sissoko
Consistency is just one parameter, it's not the be all and end all to what defines a player. One can be consistently mundane, consistently erratic or consistently forgettable. Consistency does not equal excellence. A player of the seasons needs not only to be heavily improved, but also produce several moments of individual magic.

I’m waiting until the 1st of June before I vote. Whoever scores our winner, gets it. Have a funny feeling it might be Toby to redeem himself after the og in the league.
Trippier goal from a back pass to Lloris?

Sorry I forgot to spell it out that Sissoko has been consistently excellent, I thought that would have been self evident, silly me. Sissoko has improved massively but that's not why he gets my vote, I think that overall he has been our best player over the course of the whole season.

Son contributed directly to 29 goals this season. And that's with 2 international tournaments disrupting his season. And I think he also had a few game winners.

Sissoko most improved by a mile but Sonny made the biggest difference where it counts the most.

Voted for Sissoko. His improvement this season has been phenomenal and he’s become one of our most important and consistent players.

That said, it’s hard to begrudge Son the POS award. He’s steppped up with some very important goals, especially during Kane’s lengthy absences.

Personally I think player of the season should be about performing at a high level consistently.

You look at what their role is in the team and evaluate from that perspective.

When Kante had that unbelievable season for Leicester it wasn't because he was providing moments of magic or contributing with stunning goals, or lots and lots of assists. It was because he performed his role superbly and Leicester were a far stronger side because of it. That protected the defense and allowed the attacking players infront of him to flourish.

Don't get me wrong, Son has still had a bloody good season overall, and his goals in the CL have been pivotal to our progression.

But Sissoko has performed from the get go, right through the season, and has shown the most consistency in terms of performing at a high level within his role to the team.

IMHO I think he deserved it most and would of meant so much to him.

Heart says Sissoko, the result says Son, but for me Vertonghen has been majestic. There, I said it.

Funny that I wouldn’t say Vertonghen or Alderweireld have had particularly good seasons , very ropey imo .

But Sissoko is not not being judged on goals.

If that's your mindset, might as well rule out all the defenders as well for player of the season.

Son and Sissoko are completely different footballers, providing different roles.

Ok, i will phrase it to say i preferred Sons performances and contribution over the season to others.

To be fair though none of our defenders deserves our player of the season.

Sissoko.

In reality it's not even that close.

Still a wonderful season from Son but Sissoko has been our best player this season.

Shame.

Son has clearly been the difference maker for us this season. His goals have been crucial to us getting anywhere. Sissoko is loved as an underdog who has come from being useless to being a decent player in his limited but important role. Poch has done a great job in converting him to the role and with no Dembele, Dier or Wanyama his has risen to the challenge well. But it is just sentiment to consider him the player of the season

Those are my onions anyway

Absolute rubbish.

My onions.

He's been our most consistent player. That cannot be questioned.

Fair enough mate, it's all about opinions.

To clarify, I loved some of Son's performances, particularly Chelsea at home, Everton away, Dortmund home, City in the CL at home, and most definitely City away in the CL.

But I went for Sissoko for his high level of performance right through out the season, even though they don't have the same wow factor, I just think his effort and performance levels deserved it most.

But totally understand your opinion ?

.
A very good comparison since Kanté was not voted player of the year by the fans either.
