Vio has his work cut out. But for the love of god someone needs to get the courage to stop Kane wasting so many free kicks. Two massively deflected goals in his entire career from free kicks.
It’s gone beyond annoying now it’s just actually quite strange. He’s genuinely shite at free kicks, so surely to goodness conte , Vio etc know we are missing out on a lot of opportunities to score by keeping Kane on them.

Son is better, Dier is probably better, Perisic should have the technique, wouldn’t even mind seeing Kulu have a go. Bissouma can also take them.

Just anyone but bloody Kane !

Seeing Perisic hit two shots yesterday. The second was a great strike. He’d be my choice. Top player, been there and done it.

You are falling into a dangerous trap. Kane is probably our best striker of a ball / shooter from distance. The problem is he's crap at taking free kicks (getting the ball up and down over a wall). Just because Perisic his a sweet shot yesterday does not mean he is any good at free kicks (although he is almost certainly better than Kane).

Blimey. Only an opinion.

To be honest I have heard a lot of hot air about who is our best signing (or typically Spurs our worst), but in all honesty Mr Vio I believe could be our most influential. IF he can improve our free kicks, throw ins and Capt Calamity distribution then we will win the league (joke) or at the very least showing teams that they can no longer professionally foul in dangerous areas confident that row z will be busy!

We have no idea wether or not he insists on doing it. He might well do, but people are bound to suggest it because it's
True, but whether he insists it or not he should have this job of free kicks taken off him right away, even if he flatters to deceive in training. What is more puzzling is that Conte is not known for his patience or unwillingness to make tough calls when they need to be made, because he's never afraid to say it how it is, and I'm sure he would have no problem taking him into the office one on one and saying "look Harry you're a great player and keep doing what you're good at but, I'm taking this job off you for the greater good....."

I couldn't find the thread for our new set piece guru ... ?

It is interesting we have scored 2 goals from corners in our first 3 games. The Athletic wrote an article back in Nov 2021 when Conte first took over, that focused just how bad we had become with corners ...

Among Tottenham’s many issues this season has been their inability to score from corners. In the Premier League, they are one of only two teams yet to score from one, boasting a measly record of zero out of 62. Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham United — the teams sitting first, third and fourth in the Premier League — top this particular metric this season with five goals each. Chelsea and West Ham have both scored against Spurs from corners.

Thankfully, in Antonio Conte, they appear to have the perfect head coach to restore them to this kind of level, or possibly far exceed it. The facts are pretty stark — in his two seasons at Inter Milan, his team scored 21 goals in Serie A from corners, averaging out at 10.5 per campaign. To put that into context, Liverpool have topped the Premier League for goals scored from corners in each of the last two seasons with 11. Can he do the same with Spurs?

Early evidence seems to suggest quite simply that he can / will / has. Against Wolves we were clearly a much bigger side and were very dangerous from set pieces. Swap Doherty (for Emerson), and Richarlison (for Son) and we have another two 6-footers who are very dangerous aerially.

Full article from last year (that goes on to analyse all of Inter's goals from corners under Conte) can be found here:

Emerson was used as the last man on all the corners

I wondered if he was still around as out set pieces haven't been particularly inventive for a while. Perhaps more due to the overall situation - we shall see.
