To be specific about the tune, which is indeed the basis for "Champions League, you're having a laugh" and also "Arsenal fan, on a string": it is Tom Hark, most famously popularised by a bunch of dodgy ska punks from Brighton called The Piranhas.

Observations:

Why is he miming when the verses are pretty much spoken rather than sung!? And he mimes like he's had a stroke. Maybe he has genuinely had a stroke and that's why he can't sing live. I've answered my own question. Thanks.

I always wondered how Christian Bale prepared for his role in American Psycho. He did it by playing drums for the Piranhas.

As for the chant, yeah it's been around for a couple of seasons now. As has been mentioned, I love it cos it focuses on us. No mention of Campbell or Ozil etc and it's a pwopa perfect choon for a footie chant where the beer spills over everyone's heads during the chorus (Or the Diet Coke in my case).

Great coverage from the BBC. While Spurs fans were singing at the top of their voices the BBC cameraman was watching 2 Fulham fans playing up to the cameras while everyone around them sat in silence.

The commentator even said that the signing was the Spurs fans, on the commentary.

EDIT: And it was very loud! (y)

New chant? it's been about for ages. Certainly my favourite as it's not stolen from elsewhere or taking the piss out of another club.

Agree. It's about time we had a really good song of our own.

This point needs to keep being rammed home until people stop doing it. It's great singing that in the last 10 minutes against our rivals in the top 6, or even against teams like West Ham or Leeds that we've got historical rivalries with. But against Fulham? Or the teams scrapping around at the bottom of the Premier League? Completely classless. If you saw Chelsea or Man Utd fans singing that against lower league opposition you'd be up in arms so let's get our own house in order. So embarassing.
No I wouldn't, stop being so righteous and telling people what they should or shouldn't be doing.
If it bothers you that much, get yourself some tickets to some away matches, and tell the people who are actually singing it that you have a problem with it.

Virtue signalling on a message board holds fuck all weight with me fella.

I swear there was one point during the match when the volume of the singing seemed to be raised or modulated
or adjusted by the broadcasters.

Just saying.

They do this all the time if swearing can be heard, especially daytime matches, I think ofcom fine the tv company if they make no effort to suppress it.

Thanks, I kinda figured that but when it happened I think it was fairly innocuous but maybe it had been lowered just prior and it didn't realise. Cheers. (LOL)

He did this more than once. One can only assume given the (laughable) SC accusations of an anti-Spurs bias/agenda on the BBC that the commentator was, after the match, bent over and given a thoroughly good spanking using a very large wooden paddle and enlightened as to their policy about saying anything positive about Spurs :D

I bet the paddle was found on Putney Beach.
