No, absolutely nothing to do with Domino. I'm talking about the late 19c and the early 20c. This was a reasonably well-evidenced theory that I read about a matter of decades ago - before anything like bloody Domino! Before take-away!

But it may have been re-superseded, if you know what I mean. I'll do some checking...

EDIT: the world seems to have abandoned my favourite eccentric theory and reverted to the Napoli history. So ignore. Napoli it
is.

The americans are always claiming to have invented stuff. Like the crisp. It was in british cookbooks 50 years before it appeared in america.

I'm in block 530, I can't remember if it was that Tap Inn though or one further in.
She was a white girl, looked mid 30's, blondy brown hair. Just had a totally confused look on her face.
I asked for a coffee and a sausage roll, she looked confused, double checked, then took my payment before telling me they'd run out of coffee.
She did get it, so it's not like her service was particularly bad. She just seemed shocked and surprised by everything.

I think I know who you mean. We've tried every outlet in the upper and the service is really poor save the odd person with two brain cells. There's little or no difference in the 1882 bar...poor sods.

I think pizza as-we-know-it was invented by Italian immigrants in America and then re-imported to Italy.

But you're right about the disparity in cheese.
As a half Italian this absolutely not true. Italy has never and never will be importing that American garbage. It was invented in Naples in the late 1800s and remained a staple since.

Americans tend to have a completely different conception of what pizza is (for them it's more about toppings and putting way to much cheese on ot, for Italians it's more about the dough itself, even in new York thin based pizzas).

The pizza in England is often a combination of both. But generally fast food pizza is more American influenced while sit down restaurant pizza more Italian influenced.

What grade tipo would you recommend for an authentic Neapolitan base?

Hotdog - real meat. Tastes nice and hits the spot. Very seasoned. I could taste it for hours, as could any one in my vicinity.

.

Strange thing about the hotdogs is the one I had on Saturday was totally different to midweek. They called it the “breakfast hotdog”, whereas I could have sworn it was just called club hotdog or something different on the Tuesday.

Anyway, the one in the week was much nicer. Almost a bit herby and thicker, better quality meat to me. Smelled and tasted really good. The one on Saturday was just bog standard and a result a bit of a let down, although still better than the crap on offer at Wembley.

Bloke next to me asked if they had any chocolate like a Mars Bar and the guy looked genuinely confused. Like he’d just landed on planet earth that morning and had no idea what a mars bar was .

The sausage roll I had on Saturday was delicious. And with a pint for a fiver made it a bargain.

Obviously landed here from some planet other than Mars then

Napoli is apparently the true origin, but the USA theory had nothing to do with modern cheesy pizza. It was about the movement of immigrants back and forth at the turn of the 1800s/1900s.
Either way it they came to the UK by way of the USA.
I'm pleased to see a concensus growing on the quality of the sausage rolls, they are in my humble opinion the dog's bollocks.

Hope they’re not made from them....

Where are they selling hot dogs in the south stand -any level - ?

I’ve been trying to find a site which shows exactly where all the food outlets are in each level of the stadium and what is on their individual menus . Haven’t been able to find this basic information anywhere on the club web site .

On the level you walk in on at the south stand, head round to the east stand and there is an eatery beyond the beaver town bar that sells them. It’s near the next bar you come to, maybe before it off the top of my head.

I’ve been quite impressed with the quality and price of the food on offer in the new stadium.

So far i’ve tried the sausage rolls, the minced beef and onion pie, the chicken burger, a pulled pork hot dog and chips. All very tasty. The breakfast pie my sister had on Saturday also looked good.

The only thing I have tried that I was’nt impressed with was the Malaysian curry from the Naan and Noodle, very meh and not very good value for money.
