I think the atmosphere was rather good. People will become more familiar and with the run we have been on it always adds can become a tad anxious. I LOVED standing all game and i dont think we will ever have to sit (forcefully) on wall end as the stewards cant get anywhere close to people to tell them.
I do agree on those who have meantioned perhaps getting together a core group of fans dedicated to singing/chanting to really become the driving force from that end.

P.s how gutted would a west spam fan feel looking at nwhl. They had
In fighting and riots for their first few games.

Not sure what you were watching but there was plenty of noise, the Palace fans made themselves heard, they always do but only in patches when we were quiet. The general mood once we got going was that we needed to win, basically the football took over and the party stopped for a while as it should. I was in the south stand lower and there was plenty of noise not that you'd say the place was rocking.

It was a stream from American coverage, which for some reason had that **** Dixon on. He was making little comments about the crowd at various points.

It was probably just dampened by the broadcaster, or maybe I expected too much. I was hoping for the sort of noise that couldn't be ignored. I don't think that Eastern European fanaticism would be possible in England

It'll take time for the crowd to settle in. It helps singing when you know all the people who sit around you. When it comes down to it, the Spurs home crowd has never been one who sings all over the ground. Too many grumpy old gits particularly those who always sat in the posh seats in the East and West stands.

When the crowd did get going the sound was incredible though.

Unless you live in some parallel universe, yesterday was stunning.

There was always going to be snagging and teething probs - I’m not sure the stadium is even finished.

Amazing home for us.

Wasn't having a pop at you (or the person who initially posted it) but as a starting point I'd be very surprised if work begins before the end of next season. I think if we were further forward than that then there'd have been more of a grand announcement by now.

I think somewhere in this thread I jokingly said it wouldn't be done until 2020. I'm actually now not so sure that'll be so far off the actual completion date.

Well I wasn't too far off with my completion date prediction back in 2013....

Also the nature of the game definitely had a negative effect on the atmosphere - very tense given the importance of getting 3 points, not many chances created in the 1st half, Palace sitting very deep and playing with almost zero attacking intent. It was exactly the sort of match that would have had a subdued atmosphere at the old WHL.

There is no doubt that a more entertaining match will lead to a better atmosphere - it will be rocking on Tuesday night.

Dixen always does co-coms for NBC PL coverage. To be fair he was mostly complimentary about the stadium and the fans last night. He did have a slight dig saying that while the acoustic design makes the cheers louder, it also makes the moans and groans louder when something goes wrong. But to be fair that same comment was made in the Guardian's write-up of it this morning.

I resent that, I sang and I'm the grumpiest old git you'll ever meet!

On the subject of the long queues for beer, I have a couple of very good tips for avoiding the worst of them... I'm not sharing them with you lot though.

See that danielneeds, I told you I was grumpy.;)

How was it getting into the ground last night? On saturday they had us scanning our tickets twice for some reason, once by a guy with a handheld scanner and secondly the turnstiles!

I was turned away as my season ticket wasn't working, they told me to go to the ticket office. Not ideal. I knew this would happen as I'd been sent a replacement access card only a few days before as I'd lost my wallet a few weeks back and the ticket office sent me an e-ticket in case my replacement card didn't arrive in time.

Very helpful lady at the ticket office said I should have used the e-ticket instead of my access card! So she printed it off for me. Queue was about 50 people deep so I wasn't the only one. I just predicted some faffing about and it turned out that way exactly. Just glad I arrived two hours before KO.

One guy that went, he said the noise was deafening, he could hardly hear the bloke next to him let alone the Palace fans. He said the atmosphere was incredible for pretty much of the night. TV's often turn the crowd noise down, or you simply cannot get the intensity on TV that you would when you're there.

Not all complaints from me at all - sorry if it came over that way. Observations.

@Tiffers - surprised you could give an honest assessment a neg. There are and certainly will be fixables amongst that, but there are also some fundamentals that will require some harder work. Maybe the club has been surprised by the initial take up?

Shame you were blinded by the light last night. Was all good for yourself then? Instead of neg repping me then post a counter positive view where you tell us about all the things that were positive and great. I am sure people would find that insightful.

After waiting for so long to get back into this Amazing stadium I wasn’t disappointed. I was able to get quickly to the stadium by overland train from Liverpool Street , was able to get in to the stadium very quickly and quicker than it took to get into Wembley. I managed to get my Beavertown beer and chicken tikka pie without Kong queues and even managed to sit down. I had a great view of the pitch from the south stand row 57 and all the people around me were buzzing with excitement. The opening ceremony was a bit less than I had expected but then I hadn’t expected to see the players on the pitch during the ceremony so understand why it was short. The go compare singer was awesome as he sang glory glory. The game wasn’t brilliant but we all went mad when Sonny scored and god hiw he deserved to be the first goal scorer after the season he’s had for us.

I’m a senior fan so usually get upset when people stand up but last night I was just as happy to stand up, leaning back against my chair, and couldn’t give a fuck about it. We got the win we got the three points so it was the perfect end to a perfect day . What was there to complain about?

Well, yes I’m pissed off with London transport only running trains at 15 minute intervals on this match night of all nights. On a separate note I don’t understand why fans are happy to queue for more than 30 odd minutes to get on a train and then all heave off at seven sisters when they could get to seven sisters in the same time on foot. So, yes I think the public transport arrangements are going to need drastically improving but that’s not spurs problem.

Cheers Hoopspur just hope to get to enjoy your visits to the new stadium as much as I did.

I loved the opening ceremony. It was - like the WHL closing ceremony - shear class. Not over-done. The Glory Glory Hallelujah is was made it for me.

I was there last night, it was loud when the crowd was in full roar. There were lulls, and an understandable nervousness around the ground, given our current form going into it.

Unbelievable stadium, you really can't grasp the shear size and majesty of the stadium until you're actually there, pictures, although stunning really don't do justice. The only gripe I have is the width of seat, I felt like I was sitting on the laps of the people next to me.

My lack of voice this morning is testament to this! Was in block 420.
Great news, I've got tickets in block 420 for Tuesday's CL game! I'm looking forward to seeing the stadium from a different aspect in the North Stand, compared to last night high up in the South.

Echoing many on here, the stadium is magnificent. Excellent atmosphere from my position in the south stand and we were stood all game - fine for me but perhaps not to everyone's liking to not be able to sit down and see.

Totally space age look from the outside but then feels like home when get inside. It sure feels cramped around the concourses, clearly a lot of people were wandering around to get a feel for the place so there was a big traffic of people all around. Probably my only criticism would be the odd entry layout of the Tap In bars... why didn't they just put the bars running parallel to the goal-line, just like downstairs Goal-Line bar in the market place? Instead you have a chaos of a queuing system where if you end up on one side once you get drinks you can't get back out again as you're completely hemmed in by the queues behind. 100% I'll give the benefit of doubt to the staff and stadium for teething problems, but the entry/queuing system for the bars seems a big design flaw right now

Noise will improve as people get used to their seats, their place in the stadium, become more familiar with those around them etc. I'm pretty sure movement around the ground and the logistics issues/lack of space will improve over time as well since there will be far fewer people going for an explore to see the new ground and everyone will settle into their routine of where they eat/drink and go to their seats etc. The concourses are always going to be tight because our stand rake is so steep.

One thing I wish they would've gone for though is quite a lot of slim eating "touch down" bars - literally just a 10 inch wide, long flat panel bar with an equally thin seating bar alongside it, either against a wall or just in the middle of the concourse - takes up almost zero room and means lots of people can just perch to sit and eat. I take my sister to games now and again and owing to illness she can't stand for more than a few minutes, my wife is the same as she has arthritis, so a bit more consideration for those people who literally just need to be able to take the weight off their feet would've been great. It's possible of course that if this message is relayed these improvements could be made in the future as they're very minor.

Also, this was only Palace, and they basically just sat back the whole game - not exactly the kind of thing that drives the fans to frenzy.

If we put up a good fight against City and the game is pretty toe-to-toe, it'll be fucking deafening, especially if/when we score. I remember the 2-1 against Everton years ago when Soldado scored the winner - it was a pretty even game and Everton gave us a good battle, and due to the cut-and-thrust of it all, and the obvious major efforts being put in by the players, the whole stadium was literally rocking for the whole game - just has to be the right type of game/occasion for the best noise to come out.

Send an email to the club. If enough people do they might do something.
