There was always a school of thought too that they wouldn't want us opening with a midweek which makes sense. We've got 42k ST holders. The normal process will assume they know exactly where they're going and can find there way in the ground and to their seat very easily. That obviously won't be the case for the first game. People will turn up having forgotten what number their block is, nobody will know the best way to get to it once inside, whether to go up or down, left or right etc without checking. That faff times 42 thousand people is going to equal quite a substantial slow-down, so it's imperative plenty of people arrive early. Which they would for a weekend opener - but a midweek game is much trickier. All you need is some transport issue out of our control, and you have tens of thousands turning up late, with little idea where to go, and slowly gawking around to boot. That would probably mean a delayed kick-off on safety grounds as if the match starts you'll have people rushing in and around, just going to the nearest part they can see space rather than their designated seat, etc. I could entirely understand, albeit I'd be very dissappointed, if it's a can of worms UEFA reckons they could do without.

What a patronising post. ST holders will all have cards which will tell them their block, row and seat number and the stadium is sign posted to the nth degree.

The notice document makes you right, but you don't need to close the High Rd for 10k fans.
The 60k event has to be a weekend, really, so if you are right, the earliest it could now be scheduled would be 23/24th.
It is all getting a bit tight.
When are we ever going to have anywhere near 10 thousand fans? Every single game we ever play will exceed that so I don't see why a 60k event has to be at a weekend, we will obviously have midweek games of that magnitude so I really don't see the problem.

What a patronising post. ST holders will all have cards which will tell them their block, row and seat number and the stadium is sign posted to the 10th degree.
I agree, I know where the ground is, I know which end is the south stand and I can read.

You underestimate how stupid people are capable of being in unfamiliar situations, especially in a group of equally stupid people.

It's times like this I miss Harry. You know he'd wind his window down and say "yeah mate the yoof have a game up there next weekend so the roads will be chock a block". Although the idea of Poch saying that sentence rather amuses me.

It’s gonna be ‘triffic

I was due to be out of the country with my wife between 11 and 18 April. Today, the name on my ticket has been changed to my brother in laws name, as I wasn’t willing to risk missing both the first match and a champions league quarter final.

After that, Brighton has better fucking beat Millwall.

Also I am sure that at least a third of the crowd will be able to turn up early or as is more likely will want to turn up early to have a good look inside the stadium as everything is brand new and myself would like to familiarise myself with plenty of time to spare.
Many like my sons have already said they are taking that day whenever it is off of work I am sure they are two among many with the same idea I really do not believe it will be a problem . I am speaking with experience of 60.000 crowds in the sixties and having to walk from Manor House station as the seven sisters station was not open until 1968 and the special bus service from Manor House was not easy to get on when big crowds were expected. My point is you make allowances. regarding the match situation and the service re bus tube and rail is 100% better than in those days but we still managed. I am as exited as I was as when I went as a 7 year old in 1951 and can't wait and just hope that the authorities be it the FA the premier league or EUFA or indeed the police or the council do not try to stop us opening when the stadium is ready but being as its Spurs I don't expect to get too much help with this sadly.

Isn’t that pretty much what happens at every single World Cup / European championship game?

90% of the fans have no idea where they are going, have never been to the stadium before etc etc etc

How is this any different?

Nobody's going straight from work to a World Cup game. They've traveled out to wherever its being hosted and probably turn up hours beforehand.

I'm not sure it will make much difference if we play a weekend game before the CL game. The midweek game is still going to be different to a weekend one regardless. Travel during the week is totally different to the weekend and more people will be working during the week. Going to a weekend game isn't going to change that or even prepare for the congestion of a midweek game. I'm sure everyone will allow plenty of time whether it's a 12:30am Saturday or 8pm midweek game. The first midweek game is still going to be a test in its own right. The only real way to prepare for it is to host a game during the week.

We want the 60k test event to be uneventful as possible. Also we have to show that a good proportion of fans will have a drink and maybe food after the game to take the strain off the transport system.
I'm very risk averse, so if it were me, I'd hold it on a weekend. Just an opinion.
(I know you wanted to move in once most of the rakers had been installed...)

The new stadium is all automated. Levy doesn’t even need to get out of bed.
Wouldn't it be funny if deep under NWHL they'd built a secret mega meth lab a la Breaking Bad's laundry underground cook bunker?

Levy 'Fring' in bed watching 10 screens of the whole operation.

Hold on...they gonna be selling chicken? :cautious:

Stadium inside looks amazing.
Outside that cladding bugs me. Admittedly I think I have OCD but the randomness of the changes in colour between silver/grey and brown looks like someone has just chucked them up as quick as possible with no thought. Navy cockerel would have been nice as well. Anyone know the reason it's been done that way?

Style.

If we're talking about the pale grey cockerel on the veil by the West entrance that lights up, then I personally think a navy cockerel would have looked awful there. It's all just opinions.

Most people will be able to find something that they don't like on any building like this, but more often than not the designers know what they are doing when it comes to delivering something that can be iconic but also stand the test of time somewhat.

I like it, the veil is one of my favourite things about the exterior and I personally think it would look worse if it wasn't random.

Still a case of waiting to see the veil in full game mode I hope. I don’t like the light leakage on the photos but hope it will look better in reality. My tuppence worth on the cockerel is that I would have preferred it white, but I don’t ‘own’ the stadium, so it is not my decision. There will always be aspects that people don’t like. I have quite a number but am hopeful the pros will far outweigh the cons.

I’m back and forth on the veil. On a grey London day it can look a bit bleak. But it comes to life more on a sunny day. In retrospect I’d probably ditch some of the darker panels just to uplift it a tad.I haven’t been down for a while so I’ve not seen it complete in the flesh. Still maintain I would have liked to see the name of the club over the entrance (puts on tin hat). The cool thing about the veil is in 10-15 years time if you wanted to give the stadium a facelift you could completely change it over a summer with a new design. As long as the outside is passable which it more than is, ultimately the most important is actually the inside and the atmosphere.
