it's a nice touch but the cynic in me doesn't want the away fans to feel at home. I don't want to inspire them to sing louder I want them to feel intimidated and scared.

Yeah, sudden losses of lighting, nerve-jangling screams, ominous bass rumbling through and shit being pumped through the vents...

The first test event will likely have a capacity of 20,000-30,000 and could be an open training session on March 16, while the second event a week later would need to be at close to the ground’s full capacity of 62,062.

Spurs’s initial plan for the second test event last summer was to stage a legends match against Bayern Munich but they may decide on a more low-key academy fixture this time, after faults with the critical safety systems delayed the £1billion project since September. In December, Spurs held an orientation day for 6,000 season-ticket holders in the South Stand and at the start of this month they tested the ticketing systems when nearly 1,000 fans were invited to watch the Super Bowl in the East Stand.
Seems counter-intuitive. Could we attract upwards of 40k fans to watch an academy game? I would imagine we need to throw in something extra to draw those kind of numbers. Sport Relief is March so maybe some sort of general celebrity/legends game might work if it can be organised that quickly.

The second public event in our brand new stadium that everyone has been desperate to get into? I'd imagine we'd be able to sell it out two or three times over even if it was to watch DL counting his copper jar in the center circle.

I, and many others will be going even if we don't get tickets!

I'll gladly drive from Devon to attend a 60 minute presentation match. I always liked the idea of a Ryan Mason testimonial for the larger test event.

I’m abroad between 11 April - 18 April, so I’m desperately praying that a) Millwall beat Brighton and b) that assuming we beat Dortmund, we are drawn to play the first leg at home. Otherwise I’m going to have to explain to my wife why I made cancelling our holiday.

The CL quarter-final draw is the Friday of the FA Cup quarter-final weekend so, assuming we progress, the picture will be much clearer by 18th March.
We'll know whether the Brighton game is still 6th April.
We'll know whether we're home or away first leg (9/10 April)

Ideal scenario - Brighton lose to Millwall, ground opens against them.
Worst scenario - Brighton win, we're drawn at home first and police don't sanction opening game midweek.

It is wild to me that they won't allow a midweek start. If our 2nd test event is going to be a near-capacity event then they should have some idea about how things are going to work.

What if we'd have said in January that we are ready and Crystal Palace is going to be the first match at NWHL? Everything is OK'd by the police, FA, etc...and then these fixtures get moved. Surely they wouldn't go back to us and say "oh, sorry, we know you're ready and announced the matches but you can't move in for another month and a half because we don't want you to open mid-week", right? So what's the difference?

It could serve to pacify them and more easily separate them from their money

What is crazy is how many home games we could end up with in a short space of time. I would certainly see us push really hard to play them at the new stadium. Imagine Wembley games midweek and at the weekend in quick succession back to back weeks. I dont think anyone wants that. The capacity for those midweek league games would be at an all time low (no disrespect but going to see Brighton or Palace isn't going to draw a big crowd). Do those games at NWHL however and you fill the stadium in every game because everyone is going to want to get to that stadium regardless of opponent.

You could even say it's the ideal scenario because having a handful of games to choose from will give more fans (outside of the ST holders) a chance to go sooner rather than later. Not to mention how it could affect our final run in at the end of the season. Talk about closing the season in style (at the new stadium) with plenty more home games than away. Imagine we won the title having played twice as many home games as away games in the final 2 months. I think the complaints from opposing fans would make it all the sweeter.
Brighton and Palace. If as suggested we play these mid week at Wembley would also surely depend on scenarios/possibilities. If we are still battling for the league then I would expect full houses.

They'll probably get 60k fans for an academy kick-off, but then fans will take their selfies, check out the food/drink and drift away in relative comfort well before the final whistle.
It sounds like a good day out, but will hardly be a test of how 60k fans will disperse under match conditions or see if 20k will decide to hang back for up to an hour as promised.

Fans are easily pleased - most will stay to the end if there are a few celebs/squad players/old faves on the pitch. But these guys will need a good few weeks notice so they don't embarrass/injure themselves. A testimoial type game needs to be announced now really.
