Danny Rose says it is no longer an honour to play at Wembley, as he laid bare the frustration that he and his Tottenham teammates feel about the club’s delayed new stadium build and their unsatisfactory stop-gap accommodation...

Definitely different than here in America where you just have tons of bars & restaurants surrounding the stadiums.
I mean, we are alcoholics here so it makes sense. I was just in London and pubs close at like midnight. I was floored. They're open till like 4 or 5 am here.

It would appear that the daily fail has failed to do its research, In a roundabout way it is blaming Spurs for building so close to the local residents, I haven't looked at the plans for some time, however I was under the impression that all that housing in front of the West Stand was due for re-development. There was to be an avenue like Wembley Way.

The pictures on there show from behind the garages behind the shops over the High road which are coming down then from White Hart lane found level showing the terrace containing Percy house none of which I believe are now houses and we weren't allowed to knock down. The only other houses are the ones at the end of Worcester avenue beside Lillywhite house which has been up for a few years plus the picture is taken again from ground level in Northumberland park, a pretty dumb article really.

What's disturbing is that you've actually spent your time visualising this scenario.
Are u ok?
The topic is fire alarms. Fires are very nasty.
I tend to agree that in a modern stadium, what are the life threatening events that would need such a fancy system. Surely at worst people would walk down the aisles and shuffle onto the pitch?

I'm sorry that my example disturbed you. Here's a picture of some flowers.

2 am here in Texas. Visited Chicago a couple of years ago, asked the Uber driver when the bars closed (this was on a Friday) and he said: I don't know, on Monday I guess.

Few loft conversions here and there should even it up a bit.

The stadium does look tremendously out of place at the moment, to be fair.

That's because Tottenham is a shit hole, wait a few years when they really start to build up the surrounding infra.

It's a stadium for the future, of course its gonna look out of place.

I suppose the Daily Mail expected us to build a stadium which blended in with the area. Or should we have moved out altogether, that would improve things?

And then open back up at 6am to accommodate the Prem fans drinking needs!

I would have thought the incentive was to support the team , WHU have an appalling stadium, a terrible home record yet still turn up in numbers ( I know they charge less), fans who have not turned up at Wembley should go and look in a mirror to see who is responsible.

Hope those that have deserted Wembley and the team don't claim their cup final ticket if we manage to get to one.

Night games are a nightmare for many. Journey takes me approx 2 hours , which means getting off work early , freshen up , scooby snack, and 3 trains, £24 fare.... no probs for Barca etc as the incentive is massive..... but you have to forgive the fans a little for a crap team like Saints? Getting home at midnight-ish , with a 5.30 alarm isn't ideal either. I'm sure there are plenty with longer journeys and higher fares.
When we move back home most people will be within 30 mins of the ground? Most Pikey fans live in East London or Essex and with Stratford having 15-16 different rail or tube lines it is THE best ground in the country for public transport. Tickets are heavily subsidised too.
I've been attending most home matches since 1973 and been a season ticket holder since 1987. I've shelled out £1,900 on my season ticket for NWHL, and £200 approx on Club Wembley tix for Barca and PSV. So when I look in the mirror I don't have any problems.
And if we get to a cup final I'll certainly be buying my cup final ticket.
WE all just need to be a tolerant of other fans in what has been a frustrating season, ground wise, for all of us.

But you never know - one day the optimists on this thread are going to be right.

And one day perhaps the pessimists will be equally right. I imagine the optimists will have lived a more pleasant life in the in between.

At the end of the day, all we have are our opinions, none of which are going to have any bearing on either the opening date of the stadium or the completion date for it. May as well look on the sunny side I reckon. Certainly no need to worry about passenger jets crashing into the South stand on match day. (y)

I’ve missed two consecutive home games for the first time in 20 years. There’s no point in pretending there isn’t an issue. Fans are fed up.

I’m still going to games. I can’t not go. Yeah Wembley isn’t fun but it’s better than watching us under Sherwood. I still went then and hated the laughing stock he made our club. I’m not going to suddenly stop now.

They just need to add more quality places like Chick King along the high road and it will be great

It's nice to stir things up isn't it :).
Have my tickets for Burnley , Bournemouth and Wolves so let's see if we can improve on 33012.

In the good old days, there was nothing to burn - just concrete and steel.
Only the very old wooden stands could go up.
But this new ground is posh and will have office furnishing and tons of wiring.
Restaurants and kitchens and cheese rooms and plant rooms. It is combustible.

Not to come over all Danny Rose on this, but the worst thing that could happen to my mind is a plane being flown into the thing. 20,000 dead instantly, 40,000 injured most suffering from smoke inhalation too.
The stadium will be pitch black and full of thick diesel smoke. All the minimum wage marshals will have legged it - they did not sign up for this.
What happens next determines whether another 20,000 die. You

True, the more likely disaster by far is a plant room catching fire in the night, and undetected it takes out a stand.

I guess it comes down to whether insurance companies will take on the risk and at what price.
What the fuck not sure what you need in place for this scenario no stadium in the world can have a contingency for that surely.
You could have as many fire alarms as you like it ain’t making any difference I’d imagine

Exactly. If I was willing to attend every match George Graham managed then money permitting I’ll go to these matches at Wembley. I left London years ago and now live closer to Southampton but I’m not going to abandon my club in its hour of need, even when it means getting home from a drab midweek game at gone 1am.
