The trouble is, like all the ticket pricing debates, it all comes down to the age-old argument of fans still turning up anyway. He knows that even though Wembley attendances might be down, there'll still be enough people who do turn up anyway so there's very little incentive for him to offer cut price tickets. I obviously don't have exact figures but for it to be worth Levy's while the number of people who would buy a ticket for a cut price who wouldn't have turned up otherwise would have to be high enough for it to make more money than the stadium being half full of people paying full price. Obviously they've done the maths and decided enough people will still buy tickets at full price for that to be the best option financially. So asking him to offer discounted tickets is a bit of a turkey voting for Christmas scenario.

The only way it makes sense for Levy/the club to do that would be if the amount of "good will" they received as a result would outweigh the cost. However, even with cheap tickets at Wembley I think we all know everyone would still be complaining about the stadium not being ready, so any good will would be fairly short lived anyway. At the end of the day while it would be a nice gesture, it wouldn't really solve any of the problems so just isn't worth it for the club.

I know this is a cynical way to look at it, but that's just how football is nowadays.

as I said, it's obvious what conclusion Levy has drawn. I rarely agree with his fan policy, including on this occasion. He's mugged us off for years and it is a shame many real fans of my generation have had enough- and in many cases replaced by fckwits. With gate receipts a diminishing proportion of revenue, he'll struggle to fill that ground after the first season there unless he displays more foresight on pricing. I can hear the bubble readying to burst, you? The fans creating the atmosphere and the occasion for the prawn sandwich brigade cannot be taken for granted. I'm not sure if you're advocating for Levy here, or just agreeing with me what he is, but either way let's just adjourn this for a couple of seasons then see what's developed...

I'm not saying I agree with Levy or disagree with you, just saying how it is from Levy's perspective.

I really dont get this Levy bashing at all.
Other than being taken over Man City/Chelsea style I fail to see how anybody could have done a better job.
We've had regular cl football.
We have state of the art training ground.
We are about to open the best stadium in the uk.
We're currently in top 4 again.
Seriously wtf is it exactly that you want?
Look at where other biggish clubs of a similar standing to us 10 years ago are.
I started writing a list of teams who would love to be in our shoes but as theres only 4 maybe 5 teams in the whole fkin country who wouldn't gladly swap with us it'll be quicker naming them. Man City, Man U (give it time), Chelsea (could go tits up at any given moment), Liverpool (for first time in a while) and maybe, just maybe Arsenal. Everyone else would love to be in our position.
Not good enough is it lol.

Just no pleasing some people I guess.

I suppose not winning a trophy for a decade while paying one of the most expensive ticket prices is annoying some

there's a grand total of one line in your post that coincides with the topic of this thread. And on that topic I've posted what I'd like Levy to do in the circumstances. No, I don't think his approach to Wembley ticket pricing is good enough. Some disagree, good for you, but you're only worth listening to in my book if you're actually still paying those prices. Top man, if you are...

These are all valid points and in truth we've really made strides that are there for all to see.

But perhaps it's the lingering feeling that we may have "missed" out on our best chance at winning the league in years and had hoped perhaps for him to throw his full financial weight behind Pochettino to give us a real chance. The Leicester year was agonising but having been so close, maybe some (including me) felt that the season after was the year where we could/should have reinforced more.

Now, with Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all strengthening again and with Man Utd's financial might, it seems we are following the Wenger-Arsenal model of aiming for top 4 with a minimum spend while we finance the stadium.

Slightly pie-in-the-sky thinking, I know, but I don't support Spurs for the financial sense and stability of the club - my desires are for great football, winning and dare I say it... glory!

Anybody that supports spurs with their main aim winning cups are in this day and age supporting the wrong club they need to switch to an oil rich club like city or Chelsea or perhaps some club unknown who are about to come in Arab owned bounty. You never know some uber rich arab might take over Leyton Orient and the pot hunters can go and support them. The southern based pot hunters who in the past could not find a club in London to support because there is only about ten or so in the capitol the choose from .They used to support Man United or Liverpool normally with the claim "my mum or dad was born in Liverpool or Manchester" and the fact they were winners all the time was not a factor in there support of the clubs from up north.
I am not a rich person and its hard to find the cash to follow spurs and realise that Levy is doing everything that is realistic to try to make us winners unfortunately we live in times when oil rich clubs have decided to put their money into football and will spend spend and spend more until they get success and we are powerless to stop this trend . But I am forever the optimist and believe with this current manager we can win a cup or two.

I bet you never moaned when the club froze them though, and going from my search they froze them the last 2 seasons, and the season before increased them by £25.

your obviously 1 of the bigger hit on the increase from the old to new

well until they bring in a rule, or really look into the finances of City and Chelsea then Glory for 3 trophies shared between 19 other PL clubs with 5 teams that have been in a better financial position over us for over 25 years

Guys let’s keep this thread for stadium updates / news and not a Levy bashing or Levy defending thread. There’s plenty of those elsewhere on this forum. I stopped replying yesterday as it was getting out of control despite the temptation.

@cliff jones instead of just posting neg ratings put a solid argument

funny how you've not been able to discus the last 2 times I've quoted you

I've given a solid opinion.

When Levy freezes prices, or buys players, you won't find me moaning. Why would I?

But when he does things i don't like, I believe in calling him out. Saying he did something right a couple of years ago has nothing to do with this Wembley desertion problem, does it?

I don't sit here waiting for your posts to "discuss". Life's quite busy for some, you know...

Might be wishful thinking but imo there will be some gesture once the stadium is complete and we have moved in and appreciate it for what it is, and actually thank the club for what they have done.
Small gestures as an example could be a voucher for free drink at match or money off meal inside stadium.
Larger gesture would be to reward ST holders who still went to Wembley by giving them £2 off next season's ticket price for every league match attended.

You’re obviously either a tight arse or skint.
Won’t hold either against you. But maybe you should support Lleyton Orient or somefink. It’ll help you relax dude.

The vouchers for money off for food and drinks makes the most sense. So obvious/easy but they won’t do it.

How many season ticket holders are there, 40,000? A fiver off per person is £200k.

No deal for me I never buy anything inside the stadium, a discount on my season ticket would be good but can’t see it happening.

They've already refunded people for the games not played at the new Stadium. They wont give any more on top of that. They may do a 10% discount event day for the new shop on the opening game. So any members and ST get 10% off in store. I can't see any more than that. As far as the club are concerned they've treated us all to one of the greatest stadiums in the world. We should be grateful and not moan so much about a (in the grand scheme of things) short delay.

I think there is a huge exageration over Wembley. It's only the other side of London, 30mins on tube from Liverpool street. A&C spends more time than that on the shitter. Only Spurs fans can moan about having to loan a 90k capacity state of the art stadium in London while they get a new even more state of the art one built. Maybe our rise under Pochettino has gone to some heads. We're similar in size to Everton for example and look where we are compared to them. From the training facilities to the new stadium and Champions League football it's a great time to follow this club. January, March, whenever the stadium opens we're onmly months away now.
